How's VMworld this year? I have some friends from work that are there now. It sounds like similar to Cisco Live there's a LOT about devops going on?

I lived in Loveland and Montgomery Ohio for years then went to school in Columbus at OSU and Franklin University. Kinda miss the leaves colors in Fall but don't miss the winters! Bill

I'm a CISSP and I've gotten approved training this year to goto CEHv9 training and to take the test. I agree with your comments. Security applies to everything we do. White hats unite! At first my manager couldn't understand why you'd want to learn to be a penetration tester... after some explanation he bought into it.…

We us a tool called bomgar remote: Secure Remote Access Software for Privileged Users | BOMGAR Other companies that use it are Blue Cross Blue Shield, Honeywell, Starbucks, PayPal, ADP, Rolex, and many state and federal agencies to give you an idea what kind of tool it is. From what I know it's pretty robust... much more…

This was a different mission this month! One area where I see some confusion with all the products. Which are cloud hosted and which are locally onsite installed infrastructure. Just the name HCO kinda threw me from the beginning. I did a UX meeting yesterday about the solarwinds.com website. Even for me knowing the…

I've got auditors in today... IDK how you all find the time for some of this sometimes. I try to make time for a few minutes a day but it's hard sometimes.

This is good as it compliments the already existing info for Dell and HP Servers.

Ironically we had moved a bunch of servers to a hosting provider datacenter... it's all moving back to our own DC again now!

For me being a Computer Scientist... I decided to become full on voltnut and timenut. I only pretend to be an Electrical Engineer. In search of the perfect DC reference and 5/10MHz oscillator! At the heart of the best DC voltage reference is something called a buried zener the LTZ1000. At the heart of the best oscillators…

DR/BC isn't easy it's pretty hard and testing it is even harder. When it comes down to it's how much are you willing to invest to have HA.

Dashboards and emails for me! I'm not connected to the outside world so no pages or outside emails.

Dang the website is really weird lately... links for success center all messed up and now moderation is coming back again.

Rapid acceleration to the singularity! The Singularity Is Near - Wikipedia Also between the movie "Her" and "Ex Machina" we really aren't that far off... it's pretty believable.

It would be fun to come to one of these live some time. I'm so busy with work I don't often travel as often but I do want to attend at some point. Also props to tdanner aka Tim Danner for all his hard work on the SolarWinds Orion API and SDK.

This is ridiculous so kiwi won't run on Windows2012R2 at all then it sounds like. I installed the free version of What's Up Gold and it's syslog server runs fine. I'm using that for now because I have mulitple DISA STIGs that requires a syslog server to be compliant. This network is basically one client machine, the…

This sounds reasonable.

That's the great thing about NCM... it not only helps with configuration management but also compliance. We replaced two other tools by using NCM.
-
One things for sure... it's nice to know there's a problem with something before a user calls to say it's not working! There is such a thing as over monitoring too most likely...

And considering how much I hate twitter how is this not a surprise?
