This article on Understanding Advanced Alerts is a pretty good explaination on how to correlate some events and supress alerts on devices from for example a wan circuit. I think you can apply some of this same logic if needed.

https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11455436/snmp-trap-port-security-violation-shutdown-problem-stumper Cisco Port-Security Alerts / Events It's mostly doable.

I'm getting a bunch too as well. If you really have a problem and don't want to waste db space on the events if they are taking over can update the EventTypes table in the database and uncheck the record field. You can do this with the Database Manager. I have to do this with Volume Remapped, Volume Disappeared, and Volume…

I bet some free dinner at some good restaurant was involved???

What kind of device/hardware are the POTS interfaces on? Are you looking for utilization on the min/max/avg utlization on the interfaces or looking for how many of the interfaces are being used?
-
Btw my comment before about EOC was a crack on EOC :^} The other EOC users know what I'm talking about o.O!
-
Ugh! please keep us posted on the progress with this... it's very important to the rest of us as I'm sure you can imagine! o.O

Here's some more for ya... SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: Configuring Mac OS X for SNMP Monitoring with Orion http://gumptiontech.co.uk/2014/11/22/enable-snmp-in-mac-os-x-for-solarwinds-orion/ Or if you're going all out with snmpv3: http://www.macworld.com/article/1136874/snmpv3_osx.html

Can't you just create two reports one for each of the interfaces and then put them next to each other in a view? I could be wrong I'm just thinking how I would do it. :^} I do something like that below... NOTE: These weren't web based but you can do the same thing with them in views. For you I would create one for each…

I'm getting ready to install LEM1000 and I've never used LEM before so this is going to be fun.

Before going to any drastic measures I'd at least just rerun the config tool and reconfigure again without changing anything include the web site. If I'm not mistaken I had to do this after HF6 as well to get everything kosher again. This will recheck everything and rebuild the website again. If something is out of sorts…

Here are some possible causes and resolutions for high memory utilization on PIX and ASA's: * Event logging: Event logging can consume large amounts of memory. In order to resolve this issue, install and log all events to an external server, such as a syslog server. such as NPM * Memory Leakage: A known issue in the…

I think this is a cisco related problem... a bunch of platforms have this problem and if you search the TAC for %SNMP-3-INPUT_QFULL_ERR there are workarounds using snmp views to exclude polling the MIB's that cause the problem. I'd try updating to a newer IOS version and see if that fixes it if possible... if not the…

Yes they work great I use them on the hover overs on my maps for custom properties like City, Lab name, contact, etc.
-
No but you can run the permissions checker from inside the Orion directory and it can check and even fix permission problems.
-
I see what you mean. Once the device has been discovered by snmp the check box you normally get when adding a new node "ICMP Only" is gone. That's a good question.
-
I have decided not to monitor either but there was a time when due to interfaces changing etc. the one interface you would always be able to reach on a device would be the loopback since it doesn't change and can be a subnet selected just for management.

It's been working ok for me so far: some tips can be found: basically: The steps I did before upgrade were as follows: truncated events, traps, and syslog then compacted the database backed up the web configuration backed up OrionNetPerfMon and the upgrade went smooth for me.

I like to have the CNAME reverse lookup in DNS so it's automatically picked up by Orion. Like aLTeReGo says renaming the node caption would also work. Another thing I like to do is actually name devices with a naming standard that makes it easier to automatically select nodes for groups. It's nice to have your groups…

Do you see any interface under NTA Netflow Sources on that node that you can click on and get information? Usually when it says never something may be not configured correctly on the device for netflow or a firewall or something is blocking netflow on port 2055 from reaching NPM/NTA.

This may or may not help as I've been trying to improve in this area. Have you looked at http://www.solarwinds.com/support/Orion/docs/UnderstandingOrionAdvancedAlerts.pdf from page 11 on has helped me quite a bit.

1) That's pretty much our job right? And why we get paid I'd think. 2)Piles of papers, notebooks, printouts with highlighter and scribbles on them... little hand drawn pictures... some times the whiteboards around the office too especially when more than one of us are trying to figure something out. Honestly the Remedy…

I have this problem as well...everytime I remove one little thing from the visio I use a background image and save the same way as a .gif or .jpg and reload as background image in Atlas... all my overlaid LEDs and circuits lines are offset from the background image by some distance. I then have to select all and move…

That info will help... also did you just patch .NET 4.6.1 SP1? Orion Website issues after dotnet patching could be related maybe...

I made a visio stencil with all the new SW Product icons: New SolarWinds Product Logo Visio Stencils I love visio!

I think this is what ur looking for in version 10: * Syslog and Traps – * Ability to reference Trap variable binding names and value pairs as variables in alert messages (e.g. ${vbName1}, ${vbData1}) * Ability to configure Trap alerts based on pattern matching on Trap Details * Ability to reference Orion node variables in…

You could create an alert report in report writer and filter on vendor cisco then add the report to your homepage.
