This link might help a little with the icons changing color versus the colored circle or square or background changing color: Also as far as layering is concerned I think you mean nested maps maybe? Checked out nested maps in the admin guide:…

I have on and off problems with a few of these services... I'll check some more. I'll see event log messages like one has been restarted like 50 times.
-
I too have noticed this behavior and you're correct... without node information these alerts don't mean much. I like the hardware monitoring a lot but I've noticed some of my Cisco devices including a couple nexus switches with TON'S of sensors seem to have the habit of showing the green hardware sensor up messages for…

Hehe I think we almost all forgot about it!!!

with the massive netapp storage I have I'm getting literally thousands of these Volume Index Changed messages all day long... this really causes information overflow in the events list masking other information you might want to see... trying to decide how to deal with this: 1/10/2013 10:20 AM servername-/vobstore/****-…

You could also the name the range of IP's so it always shows with a label too!

Besides the default global refresh setting you could try: http://yrefresher.software.informer.com/ With this in IE at least you can custom set the refresh for individual clients. As a work around this might speed up your refresh cycle for ops people to monitor a special display.

I too am able to use $DNS in multiple locations even map hover overs. One thing I've noticed is if there is no data for the variable I just get the variable name back ie. ${variablename} Another example I find is with system MIB variables... if they aren't set I get back instead of the Location and Contact info the…

It's best to disable smbv1 in group policy: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2696547/how-to-enable-and-disable-smbv1,-smbv2,-and-smbv3-in-windows-vista,-win…

Note I can run network atlas from a client machine and save maps but when I go and place the map resource on my NPM homepage I get this instead of the map: Unexpected error: An error occurred while generating map 19fc7673-32f3-4681-886d-95a06a1154f5.OrionMap The thing that really makes this bad is that of my Three NPM…

Even the CISSP only costs me 85$/year to maintain my certification.

Maybe I'm missing something... has the SCP exam always cost money before? It looks like it's 200$ a year now with the new system?

Possibly use a cloud icon from Visio in the background image... then drag a Led into the cloud... draw a line between your internet edge device to the led in the cloud. Then open up your internet edge router on the left hand side. right click and get properties on the link to the cloud... then drag over the interface on…

Like this makes no sense...

I know the points and rank is wrong now. Thanks for your help :^} I figured it was just some fluke!

Sounds like Cara must work in some banking industry also. With Cara's method you could monitor processes on wintel boxes... If there's a MIB for the ATM/POS devices and they support snmp you could in addition to getting server information... get information with an Advanced Poller and work from there.

I wish I would know one way or another jonchill and stuartwhyte... I was contacted by people at SW working on the new EOC and interface that explained the complete recoding it based on NPM... I wonder if that got stuck somewhere???
-
I'm looking forward to the new EOC based upon the NPM codebase instead of in its current state! Why they weren't similar was a historical thing but I think with time basing them on same base underlying code is going to make it much easier to also upgrade EOC along with NPM. Right now I have two large NPM's reporting up to…
-
I have also noticed this now that I have EOC and a larger SW implementation. As more and more people try and scale Orion out to larger size internets I think EOC's importance is growing and also more light is shining showing how it hasn't been developed and advanced at all like NPM and SAM have. If Orion is going to really…

Also if it's popular enough on Tell us your unknown devices thread: Then it will be added to NPM giant mib database so it's supported out of the box.

I have also ran into a similar issue at times from the web under manage nodes sometimes when I select a node and unmanage it with unamanage until a year in the future. When I hit ok it often doesn't take for some reason. After doing it over and over a few times it finally takes and the node goes unmanaged. I assumed maybe…

In the customer portal when you goto my downloads you can use pulldown to select which product you want to download... after that right next to the product is another pulldown where you can select any of the versions if you are under maintenance. https://customerportal.solarwinds.com/Downloads

What do you know I just figured it out! To get it to work for short periods of time I had to: Bring up the report in Report Writer on the General Tab there is checkbox for Group Historical Data by Days. Uncheck this box and save the report. Now the shorter than a day reports run fine from the web.
-
kevin- You can use the variable ${MAC} which is the mac address for an interface. You can you this in reports and map custom tooltips.

I'm getting these same events on an account that I know isn't being locked out... what gives? Anyone figured this out? I know the password can't be wrong because the account would lock if it tried this many times... so what gives? Is it possible the account doesn't have some rights for something it's trying to do? I've got…

I'd try restarting IIS and see if that fixes it... this is just a first guess at what I'd try.
-
I think you are right that only monitored interfaces are in the database. It would seem the only way I can think of you to do you've already firgured out in theory. You'll have to MIB walk the Interfaces MIB to find all the present interfaces. All of these interaces have an index which can be confusing because, from my…

Will there be a new SDK now that NPM10.6 and SAM6.0 are being released?
