If you go to Manage Nodes from the web and select your unix server then list resources don't you see the volumes listed? If they are there you need to select which ones you want to monitor and submit and they should then have stats collected and displayed in NPM.

I add vcenter first then the ESX hosts... Also you'll have to add any VM's you really want to manage as well if you want to be able to click on a vm and see the machines stats. You will see a lot of information though right after adding the vcenter... since orion speaks the vmware api it can get most everything this way!
