Yes you can use custom properties and other Node and Interfaces Variables in the map hover over tooltips. You can experiment with using the variables other places and application also. I don't think every application can us them in all interfaces yet though. To add them goto your main summary page and hit the edit button…

@ge.com huh... I used to work for GE too... you could just do DPI with the new NPM probes if all of your servers are on the same VLAN pretty easily. This is essentially what we do but right now with something besides NPM. This maybe changing soon for me though since we are upgrading to NPM 11.0.1 thursday. More often than…

I had thought that this was the last step I needed to get this working but since now Crystal Reports Runtimev11 won't install at all now I'm totally hanging here... I've never even gotten it working before as I'm new to this LEM.

Correction he spent a few but not many... Eric could have spent enough...

Have you checked out jtimes Outdage Duration Last month custom SQL report in Content Exchange? It's pretty popular and you can modify it to satify your need.

You could create a rule that checks all three and alerts on it I think pretty easily. Once the data is normalized it's fairly easy to setup a condition that's checked and either filter or alert on it. So you basically would filter on login success AND group change AND password change together. Just make sure to select the…

Has it always been this way? How long has system been setup? It sometimes takes a little while to populate at first but this shouldn't be happening. If it's been like this all along and for a while I would open a support case I think because that's some of the most important information that's basic to every node details…

If you go to Manage Nodes from the web and select your unix server then list resources don't you see the volumes listed? If they are there you need to select which ones you want to monitor and submit and they should then have stats collected and displayed in NPM.
-
I add vcenter first then the ESX hosts... Also you'll have to add any VM's you really want to manage as well if you want to be able to click on a vm and see the machines stats. You will see a lot of information though right after adding the vcenter... since orion speaks the vmware api it can get most everything this way!

It depends on what license you have: model manages: SL100 Up to 100 elements SL250 Up to 250 elements SL500 Up to 500 elements SL2000 Up to 2000 elements SLX Unlimited elements Elements = Nodes + Interfaces + Volumes So the more interfaces on a node will eat up more elements. Volumes are logical drives on a server.

Or just use nmap/zenmap to find out.

Geesh! I think people cheated and cleaned up before their pictures o.O! Also I have way way more junk all around on the walls and on my desk. I wish I could show you but any kind of recording device especially cameras are strictly prohibited where I work. I actually may be able to post a picture of the outside though. I…

Is your database also in the VM? People have had many issues with trying to run their database from a VM.

Could you change the logic to where snmpTrapEnterrpise is equal to COMPAQ-ID-REC-MIB:compaq and snmpTrapOID is not equal to cpqSeUSBSorageDeviceAttached and snmpTrapOID is not equal to cpqSeUSBStorageDeviceRemoved you come up with some good one's byron :}

Another thing I've noticed and still haven't figured out why is... After I edit my background in visio and then save as either .jpg or .gif then use as the background and layout all of leds, circuit lines, etc. Later if I re-edit the original .vsd and do the same save as .jpg or .gif without changing any page size or…

You could create UnDP to poll the Checkpoint MIB. There's a bunch of OID's for finding information. It may depend on what version of CP f/w or appliance you are using. Here's a link to the main CP MIB: www.oidview.com/.../CHECKPOINT-MIB.html Also someone already created one you might try to start: And here's another thread…

NTA module with NPM will give you all of your QOS info you are talking about.
-
If it's a node in NPM goto manage nodes from webpage and select the node... click list resources and when you see the loopback interface uncheck it and sumit the change to not monitor that interface any longer.

Someone has to have seen this b4 :^} This is a see the forest for the trees kinda problem... or however that saying goes.

I have use the report writer logic to make weekday business hours reports: I filter the results like this: Select Records where all of the following apply: Records where time of the day (24 hour format) is greater than or equal to 05:00 Records where time of the day (24 hour format) is less than or equal to 16:59 Records…

You want to look at the net-app mib here: http://www.oidview.com/mibs/789/NETWORK-APPLIANCE-MIB.html It's big but if you look through you may find the information you're trying to get at...

Note it's working now that you can click on and view any ASA config that's working fine. I want to create a report that will list all the ASA configs in our environment. I could really use some brief guidance on this. I'll try to see if I can figure it out today but I've had to two other guys doing most of the NCM stuff.

We successfully updated the second Orion server to NPM12.2 and associated modules. One thing I forgot from the first time and had happen again is when you change the server name for your primary poller... support has a script that you run which goes through the entire database and basically updates any references to old…

We're in the middle of this upgrade on a couple systems right now. We've gotten hung up on the upgrade of NPM and it's complaining about not being able to communicate with the NTA database. This morning it was working fine on the old versions so no changes to the host machines or anything happened but it won't work now.…

We're upgrading two Orion systems from NPM 11.5.3 all the way up to 12.2 and moving off Windows 2008R2 and SQL 2008 today which means... upgrade in place to 12.1 then move the database over to brand new VM's already running 12.1 then upgrade it to 12.2 with the new installer! Wish me luck friends!!! All of your help and…
-
I'm glad the new installer was back ported from 12.2 to 12.1 as I'm still doing upgrades on some systems from back as far as 11.5. Kinda wild thinking about how far things have come from 10.x now.

I'll have to watch this thread...

I wanted to let everyone know that RC2 fixed both my Dell Blade Center Problems and the Network Objects are now clickable in the alerts browser again! One thing I have noticed now is that some of my newer reports that run in the report writer are now showing no data when I try and run them from the website (they worked on…

This might be a good place to start: www.cpug.org/.../11776-snmp-traps-r70-1-following-manual-but-no-go.html CPUG is the best checkpoint related forum... I'm back in a Cisco ASA world again now but back in my CP days this was the place to go for help. :}
