Wow crzyr3d... that worked! I changed the alert trigger from the APM: Hardware Sensor Status to Hardware Sensor Status and it fixed all of the links in node alerts to reach the correct node now! Great workaround brother. :^} My alerts immediately retriggered with the correct links.

I'm only using the standard version and from I can tell SolarWinds doesn't require any of the extra features you get with the enterprise version.

Very interesting topic to bring up... Cisco: ip flow-cache timeout active 1 Here’s a brief list of other usual suspects: NetFlow (routers): ip flow-cache timeout active 1 NetFlow (Catalyst switches): mls aging long 64 sFlow: polling interval 60 Netstream: ip netstream timeout active 1 J-Flow: ip flow-cache timeout active 1…

Apparently version 10 is going to have a standalone utility that may allow this soon: Per Brandon: All, As a standalone component with 10.0 we will also put out a stand alone tool to schedule unmanaging nodes or interfaces. What you can do with the Schedule Unmanage Utility: * Create a task to unmanage Orion nodes and…

This must be version specific then... I'm on: Orion Platform 2015.1.2, NCM 7.3.2, WPM 2.2.0, NPM 11.5.2, IVIM 2.1.0, QoE 2.0, SAM 6.1.1, NTA 4.1.0 and I don't see any blank groups.

That's some really nice things to say zennifer!

I think sedmo is correct. When a syslog message comes in NPM will try to resolve the source IP Address using the methods available (Hosts file, DNS query, LMHosts, NetBios query), if it does not succeed for any of them, it will keep showing the IP Address for the Hostname. Make sure your DNS has setup PTR records so it can…

It looks similar to SRM but from some other company.

Like you need some points Eric... I'm kiddin'

It's old no points any longer... nice cat goggles though!

Also didn't know if you knew there is a duplex mismatch report you can run and it works it's found them for me before: CRC Errors, duplex and speed mismatches - SQL

You can do what viol8tor suggested and add those extra HSRP IP's as ICMP only nodes so you at least monitor the up/down status of them.
-
I also add the following: snmp-server community xxxx RO 98 snmp-server community xxxx RW 98 snmp-server ifindex persist snmp-server location xxxxx snmp-server contact xxxxx snmp-server enable traps snmp authentication linkdown linkup coldstart warmstart snmp-server enable traps tty snmp-server enable traps bgp snmp-server…

Awe I thought it was kinda cute!

Chris- You got it! It seems like you already have the primitives to create something like this in the software... although maybe if I think through the logic involved it's not as trivial as it seems. But if you think back... even back in the old suitcase sized network general sniffer days you could basically do this. I…

I've been puzzled for a while now over this.... how could you NOT include the IP address of an interface on the details page! Is there ne real technical reason why this is??? I end up having to log into routers get the IP's when I need them quickly because NPM interface details doesn't show it... geeze.

Sam components are kinda like elements in NPM. Each application template is made up of a number of them. There a Orion Polling Engine Status in the content exchange that will break this out for you: https://thwack.solarwinds.com/docs/DOC-168997

Btrotter- Excellent so glad to hear you got the problem resolved and that it didn't require to much. Apparently the command resets a couple registry keys and has the effect of reinstalling the protocol. The reset command is available in the IP context of the NetShell utility. Follow these steps to use the reset command to…

Will that Crystal runtime version work with 6.4.0 LEM? I was worried about the versions in the customer portal not matching.
-
What OMG we need a replacement now! I think the table is really hard to put together from what I've read.

This has been brought up before in thwack multiple times... it's not a new argument. If you think about it this same kind of Meg = 1024 or 1000 fight has been going on with disk manufacturers for over a decade. Sounds like the concensus is 1024 in upcoming version.
-
Larry is right about this. This is one area where I'm disappointed in NPM. Why not show interface IP's on the node details page with the interfaces in NPM? Seems like a no brainer.

HemiTruck's way is probably the easiest...

Turning off UAC Use the following procedure to disable UAC. To perform the following procedure, you must be able to log on with or provide the credentials of a member of the local Administrators group. Important Turning off UAC reduces the security of your computer and may expose you to increased risk from malicious…

Thanks Richard so much for response... I can't believe I'm the only one here with NPM and large NetApp NAS's they are trying to monitor. Here's just one server with mounted netapp storage's event summary... this is INSANE! Event Summary 11305 Volume Remapped 10 Volume Disappeared 9 Volume Reappeared Am I really the only…

I love Rapid7's tools... nessus isn't bad either.

I wonder how many 2800's are above 15k feet these days? I guess 2800's on Jet Airplanes would apply... or what about on the space station :P Seriously though... at remote sites and datacenters esp. if the temp gets above 80° F it's a not a good sign.
