The upgrade to 2019.4 on this information system (which is a bigger one) went well. I'm monitoring this SEM from Orion over snmpv3 so hopefully if /var get's big again I'll know it. I'm hoping this will just magically make this tomcat issue just disappear. I like the new interface and I can imagine doing more things with…

I try to leave the development to the developers even though I have a background in some languages. It's not my daily thing so I really can call myself a full time developer... and like you suggested... it may be best to leave the programming to the developers that do it all day every day!

Just got a new 5 burner grill last week on July 4th sale... I was considering infra-red grill but after asking some others that bought one they all said... DON'T DO IT! I usually use gas grill because it's easier but I do like a good charcoal grilled steak with maybe even some wet down wood added to the fire to enhance the…

Yep we have a huge cluster of UCS servers divided up into normal enterprise, isolated enclaves, and restricted enclaves. I install new non-release software in one of the normal enterprise enclaves to try stuff out or test. I wish I had more time to just experiment but it's pretty good.

The idea of putting Ops at the end of everything really hasn't created a big change in what we are doing. Perhaps there are some changes along the lines of agile in speeding up some cycles but the things we do haven't really changed... just the names for them have.

Those were a little wait what? Then is makes sense.

It's pretty bad.

Lol I remember that painter dude from PBS!

The same exact thing happened to us in the beginning. It seemed like a good idea to take snapshots all the time until later realizing there were real drawbacks to having them strung all over the place. A couple ways to consolidate the snapshots from command line and GUI: Snapshots of VMs are not detected in Snapshot…

That would be like shooting pieces of his own kind out his shotgun o.O!

Yep exactly what I mean... to me growing up in the midwest Ohio/Kentucky Bourbon is whisky... and all the Irish Whiskey is just another name for scotch. I guess I'm more like your wifes friend... the smell of scotch makes me ill. I used to be a big cigar smoker and smoked the best... it often came with some kind of rare…

Also all the exploit toolkits make it easier and easier to hide things so they don't look like malware to all the fiilters etc.

July 11th was tricky I had to dig for the answer because A and C both seem to benefit from the AI!

I guess this also assumes every alert is going to the same smtp server then? For most people this is probably the case but I'm sure not all.

Snapshots can and will get out of control if you let them for sure!

It was great to see you here in Phoenix last month! Single pane of glass is true monitoring goal for sure! Speed to resolve root causes of problems.

Oracle costs $$$, SQL Server is great and I voted for that but... I will say MySQL and Postgres have come a long way to challenging Oracle. Between you and me... they really messed SUN up! Bill

In even more amazing news we are closer to actually beginning to understand dolphin language! Dolphins recorded having a conversation 'just like two people' for first time Here's the actual scientific journal: The study of acoustic signals and the supposed spoken language of the dolphins This is freakin' amazing stuff in…

I worked for GE for years so I know all about their performance reviews. It's also where I got my Green Belt for six sigma.

That should help people hehe!

It make no sense the leave the most common Cisco Interior Routing Protocol out...
-
I'm with you on the Oracle... if I have my way and SQL Server for linux is great I'll be the first to want to ditch a bunch of our Oracle/Sun Solaris machines running Oracle DB for SQL Server running on VM's on Cisco UCS hardware! As for the news... I actually think the internet and sites like Drudge have given the main…

My dad was a Aeronautical Engineer... but they didn't do much with computer in his day really. Slide rules and drafting paper mainly... he got out of engineering and into selling jet engines as an engineer instead. I can't complain he took good care of us... now I fix all his computer problems and help his use Android…
