I'm definitely the definition of accidental DBA. I like SQL and I've been using databases for years but I've never called myself a DBA. I'm really excited about the prospect of MS SQL Server for linux though. I could see it helping to rid of more Oracle next year if it gets some traction.

Some big long pipes and George Jettson music to go along with it lol!

Wow the gambler that cracked the horse racing code is pretty crazy story. Gambling has sometimes some pretty seedy characters involved in it I think. It sure did sound like fun though.

4sure and isn't the TCP/IP port information (between entities) basically the foundation for all that is application functionality and it's security therein?

The current testing going on of the new NPM in development is going to greatly expand ASA support in NPM! I've seen the mockups and they're doing the coding now!

Now if we can just get PKI and two factor working on all DoD networks we'll be in good shape... with the newest STIGs and SRG's that have come out it's becoming a CAT I finding to not have PKI two factor working! Blockchain sounds good but we gotta cover the basics first.

I concur.

Those hornets don't sound good... another gift from the east I suppose... as if the virus wasn't enough o.O!

Lot's of logs 4 sure! Using SEM instead of splunk because it's much more cost effective. I'm glad SEM aka LEM is being rewritten in HTML5!

The biggest new thing for us is also VMware NSX. We bought into the full monty with VMware this year. I'm also getting to goto Cisco Live next month which will be fun for a change. I'm also going to have to migrate from Cisco ACS to ISE this year like @Eric CourtesyIT.

I found another cool article about MS open sourcing a system to test drones and other things in a virtual environment to aid in testing of systems: Microsoft shares open source system for training drones, other gadgets to move safely on their own - Next at Microsoft Sounds like a…

I would like NTM to be part of NPM and replace the outdated network atlas that has changed little in a decade minus the connect now feature that took 3 revs to start working :^} It really seems like NTM is what network atlas should have been.
