I have to say... a lot of the cutting edge development work in Orion is being done right here in SAM! Serious props to aLTeReGo ik he's a big part of what keeps this moving and honestly it's helping drive the rest of the Orion in many ways! These agents that can take over for main poller inside DMZ's over one port push or…

They won't commit to dates but my guess is June/July sometime possibly much sooner.

With some new special clouds provided by AWS and Azure with direct fiber attachment to a POP this may some day be acceptable for some of our workloads.

Take your Information System through the Risk Management Framework process for certification (which mean every app, every device, the physical room... ALL ARE STIG'd... along with the many many required documents which must be provided) then tell me whether it's secure or not. Nothing is perfect but the new model and RMF…

That sounds rough sparda963 I can really empathize and feel your pain on this stuff... I hope things get better and work out one way or another. I've kinda been in your situation before and if one things for sure... change will happen. Hopefully you'll find a better situation at some point.

That a good arrangement rschroeder!

I think I'll be doing same thing Chris is suggesting in production. Another reason is to move to Server 2012 and get off 2008R2 SP1 at the same time. I'm a little concerned about the things rschroeder mentioned though... I have some legacy reports and many alerts I'd rather not lose. It seems these are two of the most…

As a matter of fact I could see how this tool could help with documentation, analysis, and programming the data transformations. So what are we really going for here? Bill

Even though SEM is a security tool... I often use it to look for problems and help troubleshoot problems as well. Bill

I saw this and knew it would be right up your alley! They have a new zenmuse drone camera that was a partnership with flir as well! DJI will let developers fully customize its drones

I have to admin DR and business continuity aren't my favorit topics when I hear them and I'm a CISSP.

Thanks I was afraid to pull the trigger! Bill

Also I'm not sure what's up with you all... I didn't have any problem with today's question and it seems like you know what you're doing. (ie you have the right answer) The only think I can think is it might have something to do with caps or something??? I typed it all lower case I believe.

Wow that's nice. I've noticed one thing about this... only a handful of products will pull windows event logs in their native format which means you don't need agents to convert to syslog first.

I did ok this month but no mission master this year I don't think.

Yep and phones have to have their conference microphones disabled often.

The big win for containers is not needing an entire OS running on a hypervisor for many services, cross platform support (open source and products like VMware and MS), being able to move containers around almost anywhere and having a real standard everyone conforms to is pretty powerful. The security aspects of using…

We have a lot more people on thwack nowas well.

Looks like it was prolly fun though at least even if chicken wasn't so good!

Future sysadmins will be more like Doctors managing groups of automated tools. By working at a higher level, sysamins of the future will be able to influence those systems in ways that help businesses operate more efficiently, cost-effectively and competitively. And that’s where their real value lies. Sysadmins of the…

It's the 6.2 11.5 that I'm still not coming to terms with yet... It's even been a little tough breaking my report writer habits but I know it's for the best. Main thing I'm afraid of is my alerts not working any more.

For todays maybe don't worry so much about words on hint pages but think of what they are trying to do in the statement. It makes sense to me now that I got it but... the hint pages almost threw me off more than helping.

I think the whole app-stack kind of display is at least getting us in the direction of being able to answer why "the network is slow" (often not the network at all... some kind of storage problem... or poorly written stored procedure in some database web app often instead) In addition to the app stack we can always us SAM…

I agree @"jeremymayfield"... much better now in HTML5... I'm already thinking about figuring out using the html pieces and showing them in Orion. Did you ever get the root password for your appliance? Each appliance has a unique root pwd but it's not something you usually ever need. I keep constant snapshots of my…

All 9 here! Woohoo! I remember @"superfly" being here the whole time! Bill
-
I'm not sure how to answer today's question... the hint link shows a couple new arrays but the list has one on it that's not new but is supported... do I check the previous supported array or only the new ones??? I could see it going either way and that's not good.

Google stomped out Specter and Meltdown weeks ago! On top of that they are sharing their fixes with everyone else. They have some really smart people at the big G! Google details how it protected services like Gmail from Spectre

Funny thing I won the 2018 thwack monthly mission master award at thwackcamp that year so I try and least think these through. Bill

This is exciting... but I'm so busy at work lately I've hardly had time to even log on! I guess it's all good though because we've added NCM and are already expanding the node license. In addition I just got approved to add Web Performance Manager as well! So all is not lost! :^} I was just flashing back to some of the…

I broke my perfect stroke I was on this month... after over a year of perfect score this month did me in.
