I found out some of our SQL Server VM's were totally configured wrong! The worst part about it is it's one of our Orion Server SQL Server VM's!!! vNUMA wasn't functioning at all. Also hats off Thomas this is a GREAT article and you added some really really good links in here!

The DISA STIG's are actually tighter than CIS benchmarks are and similar FWIW. I am also a member of CIS and have contributed to the linux benchmarks so I understand your interest.

I think SolarWinds has somewhat recently began hosting their own videos from a content distribution network they have been starting to work with. It appears trying to mirror YouTube functionality is harder than many think. I suspect with some additional tuning and configuration that it will get better and better over time.…

The flying around thing is fun for the first few years...

Multi-factor is all the rage since 800-171 and CMMC is in the air!

I find that carrying Tagamet and ImmodiumAD both is a good idea just in case. You just never know what the food and/or water might do! Nothing is worse than having things like this go wrong. And Leon don't tell me you didn't take your Thwackpack??? You're supposed to represent!

Something different for a change is always good.

I think a good percentage of this is hype and marketing not really well trained neural nets that do quality pattern matching but I do think with more tools things are getting better.

Yeah it really sounds like it's getting out of control and is worse every year. There’s a saying common to hunters and academics, landowners and government officials—just about anyone in the Southwest: “There’s two kinds of people: those that have wild pigs and those that will have wild pigs.”

I can't agree more! The Jiminy Cricket loss was heartbreaking.

Things are getting better but getting the full view of the entire application stack can sometimes still be a somewhat manual process. Orion has helped a bunch but it's not perfect.

Looks like since being acquired SW has put marketing into high gear!

The burnout thing is pretty long... you weren't kidding.

Some of the password complexity requirements are getting almost out of hand... at some point you're just asking people to write them down o.O! Audit to me means DSS and CCRI. Also this RMF thing that's coming down I don't think anyone is really sure yet what it's going to mean??? My guess is it's not going to be fun.

A few of us have being trying but maybe there's too few of us in Phoenix AZ. I'm actually in Scottsdale but might as well call Phoenix desert. We're going to get CourtesyIT at thwackcamp this year though!

Apparently another one is going to be in Bogata Columbia o.O! www.solarwindsevents.com/.../solarwinds-world-tour-colombia

Hehe these days if you want some great craft beers look no further than most of the states in the USA!

You have to select the BEST answer... just think it through a little.

Lololol Old Dave lol!

Hehe we're getting into the thick of RMF now... new IS's have to come up RMF compliant and many of our other IS's have be converted in 2018! I have a stack of books a foot thick about RMF and all the overlays.

That feeling right when you pull the trigger!!!

I'm not sure how but I totally missed those podcasts somehow!

That's pretty much what I think college is really for... to learn to learn.

The Google Pixel 4 smartphone may have just been leaked super early as new codenames have appeared online: Bonito and Sargo. Google Pixel 4 may have just been teased with augmented reality skills | T3 If This Is the Pixel 4, the Next iPhone Won't Stand a Chance

You've got a TON of lanyards lately Thomas! Dang I saw your picture of them all recently! I used to use ccleaner all the time and it's a great tool... I'm glad I didn't use it recently now!
-
Seems VMware does a pretty good job of this if you just provision all of the storage to Vcloud directors control... with NSX as well you can pretty much handle everything and orchestrate everything in software.

IKR and the cardboard one omg lololol! Another example of just how useful duck tape is lololol! The first Integra one looks pretty unstable for sure... not sure I'd wanna be driving behind any of these on the freeway but that Integra one looks downright dangerous.

Sometimes too much information is worse than no information!

Nah it sounds like the bunchball service provider messed something up most likely.

Obviously for isolated networks some is manual but for connected assets its all automated with agents and scanning for what's on the network and when.
