Hi dwcasey, Can you please let me know the size of the virtual environment you are trying to monitor? # of esx hosts, # of vm's? Also, from your description, it sounds as if you've deployed at least one agent for monitoring VM's. Are there more than one agent?
-
Hi gildas declercq, Yes, the agent has a rolling buffer, that will discard old data that exceeds the buffer window. When the ports finally open, the agent will send whatever the latest data is in the buffer.

Hi Jose, Given your description, yes it should be addressed by Peter's 4th bullet point above. You can find another description in the 2nd bullet in the official release notes: Remote Support Software - New Features | DameWare Let me know if you are looking for something else!

Hi Tim, The IBM's are SMI-S polled devices and are limited to 15 minutes for performance data by the SMI spec. The NetApp devices are polled via API and can be tuned down to 5 minute polling. We are very interested in adding the IBM FlashSystem devices in the near future, as we have seen them become very popular in the…

Hi eloyramirez and jkmills, The rule you are looking for does exist. On your NetApp, you would configure an Asset Change rule to alert on Disk Failure. Unfortunately, this is not working at the moment and is a known issue tracked under number 214512 internally. I would recommend that you open a support ticket and reference…

Hi dkeyser, Both 5.3.3 and 5.6.2 are on Gen2 licensing - STM has not yet moved to Gen3. Basically what's going on is that 5.6 is considered a new "major" version of the software (for various reasons not worth going into here). Somehow the license tables on our end were incorrectly populated so that when Customer Service…

IBM XIV support was added in Storage Manager/Storage Profiler 5.1
-
Hi C_RE, Storage Manager does not monitor DAS systems (at least not the way you're outlining). You may have more success with our Server and Application Monitor product.
-
Thanks cdekort The way you've described is currently the best way to make this happen. tksmith - What is the reason you need a scheduled report run more than once per day?
-
To add to Aru's comment, we also currently do not have alerting for File Analysis rules. This would also need to be added to satisfy your request. Feel free to add your suggestion to our Idea Forum!

One thing that may help is to turn off real-time performance monitoring. I'm guessing the STM agent is installed on that server because you need the end-to-end mapping of the shared storage the NPM server is using? NPM is capable of monitoring it's own server statistics, so it's unlikely that the STM RT monitoring is…

Zack, I think you're referring to managing Orion alerts, not Virtualization Manager alerts, yes?
-
Hi ecklerwr1, Have you turned on the integration? VMAN should be providing you these CPU statistics if you have the integration turned on.
-
Hi Byron, Is the data from the Orion resource from the VMAN integration? Or is this standalone Orion/VIM data? Does the VMAN appliance show similar data for the same cluster?

Thanks for the feedback Selspiero! A couple of questions on your points of feedback: * I think not being able to change the amount of result is a bit of a pain, with the amount of nodes and interfaces i have, (which isnt lots compared to others) 10 results per page is too small. I understand the point is to filter and…

Hi Paul, Thanks for the feedback! I'd like to have Engineering take a look at your system to see what's going on as this is not expected. Can you file a ticket with Support and then post your case number back here? Submit a Case | SolarWinds Customer Portal We are definitely looking at options to offload indexing to…
-
Hi Joe, A couple of questions: 1) Did you work with our Engineering or Support Teams on this? If so, do you have a case number I can follow-up on? 2) Did the significant load persist after initial indexing was complete? There is some expectation that initial "offline indexing", which is responsible for indexing your…

Hi Mark, I'm a little confused, but what exact information would you glean from a "Host Level" CPU Ready value? Even if you sum up CPU Ready times across all VM's on a host, I'm not sure you would get any actionable information, especially as you tried to compare that number across hosts in your environment. Maybe I'm…

Not yet. File side support is currently tracked under this FR:

Hi Francois, EMC VNX is already fully supported in both SRM Profiler and SRM Orion. EMC DataDomain is very interesting to us, but there are no current timeframes for support at the moment.
-
Hi Terry, The WWWO post is the only vehicle available to share roadmap for our products. Usually, these posts are fairly short term focused (3-12 months), so they don't discuss our longer term plans which are much more likely to change (given the shifting nature of the technology industry in general). That said, EMC is a…
-
Hi Matthew, The post you were responding to was made 12 days prior, so no change in those 12 days :-) The WWWO post will be updated as soon as there is a change, and you can subscribe to these posts via the Jive platform notifications if you don't want to remember to check back. Note that v7000 is fully supported on the…

Hi Shane, EMC XtremIO and all future new device support should be expected on the SRM Orion side. That is subject to change, of course, but that is the current direction at the moment. XtremIO didn't make it in time to catch the 6.1 train, but look for it in a future release.

Hi Leon, IBM SVC7000 support in SRM Orion is very interesting to us, unfortunately we are unable to publicly provide timeframes for any feature for our products due to accounting restrictions. I can point to the fact that SRM 6.1 is currently in RC which nearly doubles device support provided in SRM 6.0 only 3 months after…

Hi Chris, EMC ScaleIO is Virtual SAN solution that can be monitored via SolarWinds Virtualization Manager. At this time, it is unclear that this would be appropriate to add to SolarWinds Storage Resource Monitor.

Wrong forum. Moving to NPM.

Hi nk100680, You can modify the timeout by editing: C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Storage Manager Server\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\web.xml And configure: <session-config> <session-timeout>30</session-timeout> </session-config> Default timeout is 30 minutes. To set it to infinity replace 30 with -1 (not recommended as Tomcat could…

Is this for NetApp? Were you able to create a directory rule and see the results you were looking for in the "Directory Rule Summary by Rule" report under the "Files" tab?

Hi James, We don't currently collect zoning information for the Cisco MDS switches. We do collect performance data, however. Are you able to receive any performance or asset data about the switch? Have you double checked your SNMP community string is set properly? Does behavior change if you change the SNMP version?

Hi bharris, No, you do not need to stop any services, the installer will handle that for you. In general, we do recommend that you make a backup of your database in case anything goes wrong. One caveat for the 5.3.3 to 5.6.2 upgrade: The installer will not let you proceed with the v5 key applied. For reasons I won't go…
