  • Ok, so I'm not the typical "nerd" or "geek." YES, I obsess over several of the not-to-be-mentioned examples above, but I have also started obsessing over OCR in the past few years. Not to be confused with OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, which I am as well), but Obstacle Course Racing...like Spartan, Savage, Tough…
  • Bump... I voted this up, but I have a slightly different approach. I would like to have an alert widget on each summary page. * Orion Summary - list all active, unacknowledged alerts (this can be done today) * NPM Summary - list all active, unacknowledged NPM alerts * SAM Summary - list all active, unacknowledged SAM…
  • I've been taking a real hard look at exactly what I'd like to see, that's why I haven't responded. SIP changes the landscape dramatically in terms of monitoring, and I don't know that VNQM by itself will satisfy the monitoring requirement. The "Big Picture" will require some sort of integrated view showing interface…

  • cobrien, I like this addition, but in my opinion, it's only a start. What about Meraki switches and firewalls? Also, what about monitoring the IPSec tunnels (availability and throughput) and routing protocols (OSPF and soon BGP)? Meraki is it's own world, and I'm hoping to continue using Orion as my single…
  • Mr. Bronx.... Have you seen this? KB2930275 errors out, code 80073718b - Page 2 - Windows 7 Help Forums Is this the issue and subsequent fix? D
  • Wow! This 4 yr old request hasn't been voted up more by now? I'd like to add more to this...I'd like to have the ability to add ALL the DiDs to VNQM and then have the above query map them out on a regular basis to route maps, extensions, users, etc. Then provide the ability to report on "How many total per site?", "How…
  • pratikmehta003, Your statement is correct, a rediscovery is needed; but by default NPM rediscovers devices every 30 minutes. D
  • Well, all I can say is...after all the hype and hoopla over the past few months, IT'S ABOUT TIME! Looking forward to my upgrade next week. I've been stoked ever since you announced the "Weather Maps" (link utils).
  • Well, like everything else, anything that is "dynamic" will automatically add something where you need it based on a matched criteria. For example, in the SAM groups, you build dynamic criteria for applications and nodes (typically by using custom fields), and the groups automatically add and remove objects as the…
  • Well, after some additional investigation, it does seem to be quite intermittent. W10 Home, seems to be consistent and not working, but W10 Pro seems to have a better success rate, but still not entirely successful. I'm still digging in.
  • The Hotfix for User 3.0 is their children...anytime user 3.0 has an issue, I ask to speak with the 10 year old in the house because they understand what I'm telling them to do. D
  • Agreed, using the CIDR notation would make life much easier. And not just in NPM, but all the Orion modules should allow this. D
  • Rob, Would VTP and GVRP support be something for the future? VTP support would be helpful to me, but others that don't use Cisco, might like GVRP support. I know others have requested STP support, this probably falls in line with that type of functionality. D
  • This is a huge undertaking, good luck to all involved. I'm sure I speak for many Thwacker's when I say, we appreciate all the efforts on all the fun projects.
  • This has somewhat been resolved using this method. You don't need SNMP fields with this method: https://thwack.solarwinds.com/docs/DOC-176239#start=50 D
  • bspencer63 - PERFECTLY written! The biggest issue with this is fighting off commercial devices from the enterprise. Commercial devices don't care about security, they are all about access to everything from anywhere. And when you tell management allowing BYOD (or BYOT) is a bad thing, you get shunned as negative or too…

  • With the few "regulars" I saw on this thread, I had no doubt one of you was working with dev. And as proud as SolarWinds is (rightfully so) with the NetworkInsight, I ran on the assumption they were working on it quite diligently. Many thanks for the information and confirmation. D
  • The only current way I can think of is to use the "User Links" resource. But you are limited to 10 entries and if someone ever renames a file, the link breaks. That said, I'm willing to bet that also has a character limit of 255. A much better method would be a resource that lists the contents of an external folder…
  • To take this a bit further, I would like to see all the above on 1 display...just like the virtualization summary view included in NPM.
  • When's the next post, I'm thirsty for more knowledge? I'm finally starting to understand this "swick-le" stuff. D
  • I'm having a hard time getting past 9.75% tax...OUCH!! D
  • Ok, so I have to admit, I'd never heard of this before. But looking at the screenshots for the PHP Network Weathermap, I'm completely sold on this idea. And since SW is all about doing the cool thing, I'm sure this will get developed and implemented SOON.
  • vinod.mohan, I'm a little curious. You mentioned a DPI probe above, does this imply that SolarWinds is getting into the appliance arena? Or are you going to leverage AVC, mentioned by jswan? As you mentioned, it has always been my experience that DPI required an in-line probe or SPAN port configuration. How are you getting…
  • Why is trusting data to someone else so hard? There is a legal data-mining clause in every single contract from Google, AWS, Microsoft. etc.; it's legal for them to steal it and resell it! What bothers me most is that they don't offer a "Thank you" clause for giving them permission. The least they can do is appreciate me…
  • As designerfx pointed out, the issue is with the Cisco Netflow implementation. Cisco/Meraki is pointing all flow data to a "virtual" interface, and NTA needs the monitor the physical interface to associate/correlate data. And I have an MX64 (Security device), MR33 (AP), and MS220-8 (switch)...fully licensed for 3-yrs just…
  • ritugeet sharma You may want to review your settings. If an IP is found in use, it is marked "used." If that same IP is then found to be available, it will get flagged as "transient;" this is case for DHCP scopes. An IP flagged as transient, retains the data. However, there is a configurable setting that tells IPAM that if…
