Scott, If you open the node details for that IIS server, in the Node Details resource you will see a "Next Discovery" date/time. Does it read something like "6/14/2013 12:25PM?" The default behavior for NPM is to rediscover each node on a daily basis, and that rediscovery time is initially based on the date/time it was…

Scott, NTA doesn't perform any network discovery to my knowledge, that setting is there so it knows how to classify the data it is receiving. Additionally, SAM doesn't actually do any network discovery either. It scans systems for applications when it is manually invoked, but to my knowledge is also not automatic. The…

Thank you for the quick response! As Elizabeth is also monitoring this...is functionality being built to address this suppression need? Seeing/using other similar tools (came from the OpenView world), I understand how difficult this is to develop; but I also understand the need for this. If there is anything I can do to…

rschroeder Your method was how I started my day. Then I quickly realized and remembered, Cisco switches don't have to have the "transport" commands on the VTY lines. So I looked for VTY lines that "didn't" have SSH in them, and realized the "transport" could actually include both telnet and ssh... This process has…

Steven Klassen n.ManagedProtocol returns a value of "0," I'm assuming this is for SNMP. Anyway to get the actual protocol to display (SNMP, WMI, ICMP, etc.)? D

Not solved, but getting the same error. From the log: 2015-11-10 12:42:05,971 [1] ERROR SolarWinds.CDS.Engine.CDSEngine - SubmitCDSReportRequest failed:System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Policy Falsified at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.ReadResponse(SoapClientMessage message, WebResponse…

Are you trying to monitor flow data on your VM, or are you trying to get data from devices sent to your NTA server? D
-
Absolutely! Probably my biggest fear as things are marketed without maturing, is someone other than a trained network professional thinking they are qualified to make network decisions, simply because it's all "automated" and at their finger tips. D

Can't answer that, I'm a user/customer like yourself. But I'd actually like to see it as part of NPM (so the our NOC can enable/disable ports) or NCM (more here due to the port settings change).

In the immortal words from Willie Wonka and Chocolate Factory: Varuca Salt: "I want it now! What's the matter with those twerps down there?" <just joking!> Those screenshots look awesome! There are some days I wish I had a test environment, this is one of those days. Thanks Rob. D

Michal, It's always a good idea to have "options." Based on all the posted material in Thwack as of today, "I think" most people are simply migrating spreadsheets into IPAM and they are just starting to "tinker" with the DNS/DHCP management stuff; so having this turned on automatically is a great idea. However, I can also…

John, While I like the request and feel it is justified, there might be another way to do this. You could push the IPSLA config to the router from NCM (assuming you have it), then manually import to VNQM. I agree, the Account Limitation Builder would be nicer, but the NCM/manual import will at least get your policies…

Please don't misunderstand my comments, I like automation as much as anyone. And I'm a firm believer that our jobs will evolve over the next few years...for the good or the bad. But, history has proven that each IT environment is slightly different because each business does things differently. And while we are supposed to…

They said using "group" this way is a bad idea, and I should consider using custom properties instead. Seems a bit unrealistic and tedious to use a customer property for something a group was built to do. D
-
Outstanding, glad you found the issue! D

Unfortunately, when you select Interface Error Statistics it pulls both errors and discards, there's no way to collect one and not the other. This is especially annoying in cases like yours or on firewalls, where ACL denies are counted as discards. You want the interfaces errors, but not necessarily the discards. D

@"rkr69", Do you have a default property or custom property that you can use in the new report? You can add a "WHERE" clause at the end of the report to select those devices you want to see. Something like: WHERE (mySwitch LIKE 'Core') AND (mySwitch NOT LIKE 'Access') "mySwitch" would be an example of a custom property and…

You may also want to look at these posts to take your question to the next level. Or you can Thwack search for "outage report". https://thwack.solarwinds.com/t5/NPM-Documents/Interactive-Node-Outage-tracker/ta-p/528712 https://thwack.solarwinds.com/t5/NPM-Feature-Requests/Uptime-Outage-Reporting/idi-p/571383 D

If this is a Web-based report, you can change the data depicted to 2 hours, today, yesterday, etc. In the report, next to the data source, you will find the option to change the "From." D

On your NOC, less is more. Only display the info that requires action; otherwise, less technical people ask questions and make mountains out of false-positives because they don't understand. As mentioned, pick a team and build a NOC that they need. Then go to the next team and just add to your existing NOC. Keep it…

If you have Enhanced Node Status enabled, this post should explain what you are seeing. https://thwack.solarwinds.com/t5/Product-Blog/Orion-Platform-2019-2-Enhanced-Node-Status/ba-p/433041 D

The only way I know to do this is to create a report. In fact, there is already a pre-canned report that does part of this for you. It lists the devices and all the physical info. You can copy that report and modify it for your needs and "group" devices by NCM group name. Report name: Physical Entities (Serial Number) v2 D

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same issue. D

Sorry it has been a while since I responded to this... schnarked pretty much spelled out what I need as well. I would just add: * PRI/Trunk availability AND utilization...both by gateway and enterprise combined. * SIP!!!! and CUBE monitoring and reporting. D

Reporting options... I'm trying to build reports on all this great data, and sadly, I'm unable to do so. PRI util (aggregated stats), PRI util (gateway by gateway), failed vs succeeded, etc., etc., etc.....

Andy and all, Can someone assist me in figuring this out? Using NPM 10.4, I don't seem to be getting accurate information from one source or another. I applied this report to just 3 interfaces for testing (an MLPPP setup with 2 serial T1s and 1 Multilink). The Interface speeds come back as 1.536Mbps and 3.072Mbps. So far,…

WOW!!! Great catch on this and also documenting the solution for all to share. D

ding, The "current roadmap" link above goes to IPAM. D

Agreed, that's what I'm finding. By the way, for anyone watching this post, these references are AMAZING!!! Intro to API, SDK & SWQL D

mesverrum, I'm running 12.2, and the UP Time is failing. For some reason it doesn't like the "StartTime" on lines 20, 27, and 30. What info do you need to assist in helping? D
