I'm quite underwhelmed by native cloud monitoring solutions I've seen so far. So I guess that's job security for SolarWinds.
-
There are some shared SQL contributions on this forum that address this. I agree that native abilities within the applications would be much more helpful.

Regarding poor music sales, I think that file sharing applications turned the music industry's business model on its head (yes, I have a firm grasp of the obvious). Not sure if any MBA types figured this out, but all the file sharing applications allowed me to find rare music/ live performances/ covers that I was not…

Maybe we are all afraid of them getting bigger. Perhaps same reason Windows phone died off. Disclaimer--my tinfoil hat is always on (at least I hope so).

Someone should have configured dependencies in their monitoring system, assuming it had that functionality.

Or your college taught you a bunch of Novell and you never ran into a Novell job. Perhaps I'm just cynical now, but I look with great suspicion on many school's training. Proprietary is a pretty double edged sword.

Someone should photoshop this into Chicken Strips...and change 'dogs' to 'people'.

This would be quite helpful.

Between reusable mesh cups that work in the Keurig, my French press, and my cold brew coffee/ mason jar setup, I don't use disposable K cups. Filling my growler is good for the environment too!

Perhaps if there was an ability to query the audit table more easily (instead of RDP connecting to server and running SQL queries), this need and others would be met more easily.

Welcome Ben. I've always wanted to get to one of the SWUGs. If I currently supported SolarWinds rather than Zabbix and RHEL in general, I might have a better shot. With enough notice on a SWUG, I might be able to join though. I have been hoarding PTO, so I might as well use it for something.

Could Google be scanning and analyzing the files you store there? What can they do with that data? Who could they sell it to? What would they do with it? The list of questions goes on. I don't think these are questions. And I think their privacy policies would conflict with one's business obligations (and industry…

Me too, as well.

I know a former customer/ employer who could probably kill off CA eHealth if this was implemented. More money to spend on SolarWinds.
-
Splunk, NetQoS, eHealth, Cacti. Cisco Prime is coming. SAM templates for each would be awesome.

I think when I get older and my reflexes slow, I will view this issue differently. My parents often choose not to drive after dark. My grandfather only very rarely drives, mainly due to concerns from his children. I think it would be ideal if there were more realistic public transportation opportunities. The city I work in…

SolarWinds SAM module can be used to monitor Splunk environment. Existence of splunkd process and https monitor can be used to check health of the application. Counting the number of splunkd processes (and thus the number of queries) can be useful in catching expensive searches as the query can often be optimized by the…

Today's correct answer is only correct for 2/3 of the answer. Got it right, but product name is wrong in the answer.

The lost art of efficiency is not lost on me as I watch some operating systems try to be the end-all-be-all walled garden for the end user. I suppose in the sense that a customer who defects is no longer a customer, I get it. The concept of an operating system as a source of revenue seems broken, propped up only by things…

I got an Intel Minnow Turbot about a year ago. The fact that it only had two USB ports was always painful. Right about the time I found and installed a combination 802.11n / Bluetooth USB adapter, I was in seventh heaven. And then I installed Kali to the SD card to keep both ports free. Happy as a pig in slop. Now for…

I would then be insanely jealous of the foreign winners. Not all of us are grown up versions of twelve year old boys, with a passion for science fiction. (Disclaimer: I have seen a few science fiction movies I enjoyed, but I've not felt the urge to buy a toy tied to the movie. Also, I love Office Space, but don't own any…

For the first question, which video is supposed to be viewed? The YouTube playlist seems to be more than 5 hours of material. I feel guilty halfway paying attention to a five minute video at wortk, but unless someone can narrow down which of the 30 minute+ videos pertains to question one, it may not happen.

Maybe there's a way to catch / troubleshoot this Uruguay profile issue with a SolarWinds module...hmmm. Couldn't find a clue for today's question fast-forwarding through the video (2/3 of an hour???seriously??), but thank goodness I speak geek. The lesson here is, searching text of a vendor's site may be a more effective…

I recall seeing 20 sided dice...whatever that thing is takes it to another level.

Social media is that genie you can't put back in the bottle. Those posts are out there...for eternity. Longer, in Google's case.

I was surprised to see that used to be a feature of the Basic Alert Manager yet it has not been implemented in the Advanced Alert Manager. This is a feature I could use since the necessary SQL workarounds are not in my comfort level.

So what is 'SANDOW'?
-
Agreed. Lots of bang for the buck. And this type of thing can be implemented by non-IT folks. If someone's assets can be booted off of CD or USB, and anyone can get to the assets, it's an exploit waiting to happen. This on top of the network exploits.
