Well, the interface is a bit clunky. One might also wonder why technical support isn't directing us to it if multiple walks are needed?! First, how you get to it. Maybe there are other ways, but I found it in "My Orion Deployment" under "Diagnostics" tab. You then have to click on the double arrow to expand the side tab,…

Yea, I haven't been able to figure out why or replicate in production, even on a new solarwinds server...

Amen! And coming from an atheist, that's something! :-) I've worked in company's that had great cross functional working teams and ones that have bad ones. At a prior job, I loved the interaction between server folks and the network team. Before I started there there was a mindset of every problem being "the network".…

Good analogies from a server perspective, but I have always tended to think of it from a networking perspective myself. For instance, high availability in a DataCenter environment might have been having a couple 6500's configured as either independent nodes in a pair, where they all route the same VLAN's and such and you'd…

I actually disagree with this. "Node Details" is giving you details about what it downloaded from the node, such as the SNMP location, SNMP contact, the IOS version, # of CPU's, etc. If you want to change something about it, go to the node and change it and SW will download this information again. If you edited the # of…

Ah yes, I have 3 at home right now. Two of my own and a third I babysit often. By often I mean probably 9 of the last 12 weeks I've babysat her off and on. Shanti is her name This is her behind me in my office. Then there is Angel, my girl that I actually had to unwrap her from her placenta and revive her during a…

You can do this now somewhat, but not in UDT. If you have NCM, try going to the NCM reports. Bring up the "Cisco VLANs" report. You can then use the search in the upper RH corner of this report to choose "VLAN ID" or even "VLAN Name" and search by VLAN using the box given. The biggest problem I see is that it does partial…

Hungary and Latvia, huh?

Welcome all!

(and I find it to be funny that this last message I posted, about being bummed not triggering one of the blocks, got moderated!! To be fair, it was approved in probably record time too!!)

What happens if I was eating a cookie while answering question 11? Does my eating a cookie while you're removing one cancel each-other out? What kind of cookie did you remove? Does it matter if I was drinking milk or a diet coke? If the cookie had chocolate chips, would that change the answer? What if I cancelled twice…

I remember that now, but had forgotten about it, good catch!!

Yea, I had a private high school with nearly the exact same thing as one of the scenarios in one of their janitors closets. One of their school board members convinced them they needed a Cat 6500 for running their network, which they stuffed into a janitors closet barely big enough to hold it and a couple mops and had no…

Never really had issues on Cyber Monday that I can remember. Big sporting events tend to be much worse. During those times we'd usually track what is going on and if it started affecting things we'd block sites causing issues for a period of time. Not like anyone should be shopping or watching sports at work anyways!!

I do agree with that sentiment, the stuff people are putting on wireless these days is bordering on absurd. I'm just waiting for someone to publish a probably-bogus paper on how "WiFi is unhealthy" and seeing everyone rush to remove it from everywhere. Places like Starbucks advertising "WiFi Free" instead of "Free WiFi"…

I'd love to see the survey results!

3 days ago Danielle posted "We will be in contact on Monday, November 9, with those of you who answered all 20 questions and completed the Mission Recap survey to gather your shipping and size information."

Sounds great, waiting on approval from the company for the UI changes before doing the update!

Hmm... I'd have to disagree. The sound devices (which still persist today but in smaller forms) I see as a way to drown out your surroundings for the most part. I do get a kick out of hikers on trails where bears and mountain lions are known to prowl wearing earphones which drown out their surrounding noises. Either that…

Make sure you try opening it in an incognito window, or the equivalent in the browser of your choice, if it continues to not work. Always a good idea when something doesn't work.

Yes, I've confirmed that changing this on the IIS server only effects the IIS server itself. As said in the request, it would be nice if Solarwinds would pick up on this header being present and log it in its events rather than log the IP of the load balancer, or maybe log it in addition to logging the load balancer IP.

Yea, and I might have been a little harsh in calling out the Spanish Inquisition, but I bet nobody expected it!!

Haven't heard of the majority of these, I'd be lost communicating with you!!

Yea, and then they're inconsistent in how they do these "fixes" too sometimes. Just ran across this: Enable VTP VLAN polling in UDT - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support Which I was having problems polling different VLAN's in UDT, which by default its supposed to do I think. But, after making this change things…

Wow, I actually understood quite a bit of this! Maybe I should stop playing with networks and become a DBA?!

Good series! Recommending it to colleagues!

Agreed, not at all happy with brands like Fortinet which do the minimum to work with systems like Solarwinds in order to promote their own management platforms. People complain that Cisco's command line interface is awful, which is not a view that I share, and that GUI's like Fortinet are the way to go - even though quite…

The Video Description does say something, but its "wrong" according to their answers. I even followed the link and scoured that page, but didn't find anything else that matched any of the other answers so I gave that one a try. Even found a blog out there that kinda confirmed what the video description said, so I gave that…

Why not just put in the CIDR's?

Cool! Have to give it a go!!
