I think you all are missing the lead story here!! How did they get video from June 10th, 2016? They must have a time machine!! Maybe that's the announcement, but no, that would be too obvious since they obviously used a time machine to create the video. Which of course means that the actual announcement must be even MORE…

I definitely agree with Lawrence Garvin about his perspective on application performance. What I find frustrating as a network engineer is how this seems to clash head-on with the business communities drive towards cutting costs on the actual network. From moving to cheaper broadband Internet connections to driving towards…

So, this does work to log the requests to the local IIS logfile, but I don't think it has any effect on what SW logs. Still working to test this. I'm pretty sure SW gets its info via the HTTP headers, not by parsing the IIS logfiles. Having some problems testing this though.

Test? What's that? (These are not the views of this commenter, but instead the views of my employer!)

See now, they must have heard you, there is a 1500 license version now for only about $22K!! I haven't paid attention to the licensing or costs associated for awhile now, I think the last time I looked at a quote it was called APM instead of SAM! That is pretty nuts though, definitely think it would make more sense on a…

"Knock knock" "Who's there" "Orange" "Orange who?" "Orange you glad you picked me as the answer!!"

No review of Maroon 5?! :-) My favorite memory of Cisco Live (or was it Networkers?) was the keynote address by John Cleese some years back, it was fantastic. Wish I could find a recording of it. Sounds like a good one this year, envious!!

That's what I heard. I went to one where they had Kiss play at it. I think the next day Paul Stanley had a heart problem and had to miss a few concerts. Probably couldn't handle being around that many geeks at once!! ;-)

The teaser video is showing as "Unauthorized", looks like there could be an issue? DanielleH

I believe this request is actually to remove the domain name from the FQDN, not to remove the FQDN itself? ie: given the SysName = foo.bar.com The FQDN is "foo.bar.com" The hostname is "foo" The domain name is "bar.com" I'd love to see it come up as two separate fields in the database, one for the hostname and one for the…

Very true, having the software to check compliance and being in compliance are two different things. For instance, most of the compliance rules in NCM will do things like check to make sure a logging host exists and that its in the right format. However, if you only have a single logging host but more are defined on…

Yea, I think there are typos in the official database too, most online copies had them I think...

Gads, I hate Twitter based customer service. Being a bit "old-skool" and having a Netflix account with a DVD plan, they force you into either calling them (which I hate) or using Twitter. Not sure why, but those with streaming-only plans can use a chat system to contact their customer support, but not us people who pay…

Guessing the delivery fee will be more than the Slurpee itself. Guessing this is just the latest in their strategy to stop the scourge known as "Wheezing the Juice!" As for the Star Trek stuff, I'm betting you could say that those and tons of other star trek devices have been "under development" since the first time the…

Good article. A good example of why a willing abdication of responsibility to know is a bad thing that directly relates to networking is that of programmers who write apps or applications that query a database. Quite often those programmers are sitting in the same datacenter as their database resides. I've seen countless…

Sounds good! If only, our companies approach is very fragmented and haphazard. They supposedly purchased ServiceNow though and maybe that's the first sign of them trying to do something positive in that area. Not holding my breath though, they've been very slow at even starting to think about actually implementing it, much…

Hmm... By putting in a "y" on a line alone, you should be able to get the confirmation to work.
-
Well stated! Just hoping new platforms coming out recognize this. Not happy with platforms like Fortinet pushing us to use their own inadequate platforms like their Fortimanager for working on their devices and making it more difficult for automating with 3rd party platforms like NCM.

LMBO? Guessing those filters are also going after potentially offensive acronyms. Guessing that the "A" in LM*O is censored!! ;-)

You forgot the towel, never leave home without it! You never know when those darn Vogon's are going to stop by, they're rather unpleasant... Oh man, I really must be a geek, I remember that they were Vogon's without even looking it up somewhere!? Gack!

I did try the first game that Niantic did, Ingress. Never got into it much. I heard there was some minor flooding of the streets like Pokemon when it first came out, but nothing like the scale I've seen with Pokemon. I've heard there were a few more, but after my less than thrilling experience with Ingress I never tried…

Hmm... I'd love to add one: Acquisition or Merger - When you're company purchases another company and you "temporarily" hook them into the network, only to find out they don't want to give you any budget or time to bring them up to your standards even though they don't comply at all. This is the case at the company I'm…

Uhoh! Looks like Chinese or some other asian spambot got through!! Need to adjust your filters to work for every language out there! Hey, you could write the worlds first Klingon SPAM filter!! :-)

On the other hand, are they even thinking about bicyclists when doing this programming? Is such a small target (ie: a bicycle) considered a problem? How will city streets with their clearly defined bike lanes and such (in some cases at least) differ from residential or even out in the country? Could the material your bike…

Similar to how Cisco's handle it on the Nexus platforms... NPM 12.3 not polling multiple VRFs on Nexus 7000?

If you agree, vote it up! You have to click on the up arrow by the original message. On mine its green because I voted it up, but there is only one vote suggesting you didn't do it...

There is actually Latitude and Longitude custom fields you can just edit if you want to do it that way. But, then you have to keep up with the Custom Fields being right. The beauty of being able to do it "in-device" via the SNMP location is that the tech who programs the router can take care of it rather than a NOC person.…

And in the same philosophy, if someone is being "bad" you can cut off their heads or shoot them! Sounds like a winner to me! User is gulping down bandwidth due to Netflix usage, off with his head! Meeting is droning on and on, spice it up with the scent of cordite!! ;-) :-P
