This is correct, on both counts. Just create an action that forwards the traps. No need to do any fancy programming. Better yet, if you pick up Kiwi Syslog Monitor, you can use that to receive, filter and forward traps as well as syslog entries. This way you can have each NMS only receive the traps it needs. It is an extra…

If I recall correctly, this exists, or at least did at the time of the UX session I did.

Kellie Mecham, if you're looking for more volunteers, I'd like to be in on that as well. Setting up alerts via the binary is a pain point for us now. Thanks, ~Terry

I don't think we would need frequent checks, but the time frames may be long (we may want to know, for example, if a particular service bounced >=3 times in 14 days. I'm not a SQL guy at all. Any idea where to start on this? Would a report be a better way to go?

That's what I was afraid of. I have relying on a free-form text field for constrained data, but it's definitely better than nothing.

Is this something that can be accomplished through application templates on SAM?

Thank you, but this will not work for what I need to do. The setting I am looking to change is under List Resources, and that can't be done on multiple items at once.

We do have some UnDPs set for APC UPSs, but shouldn't that traffic come from the same poller to which the device is assigned, and use the same community string?
-
Ryan, Do you have the same issue if you load the login page in compatibility mode? ~Terry

That sounds to me like a dangerous course of action. If SW put in the effort to programmatically prevent the account from being deleted, it is likely because deleting the account breaks something (possibly something that won't be discovered until weeks or months later). Renaming the account is likely your best option.

I'm not attempting to export a file. I'm attempting to import a file obtained from here on Thwack.

Awesome, thanks! Is there anything relating to trending, for example the reports and alerts that project volumes reaching capacity within 60 days?

That thread is outdated as it predates the voting system. The current version of this request can be found in the following two threads (representing two slightly different situations). Upvoting these will help improve the chances they are implemented.

DanielleH, That's what doppelganger accounts are for!

Derek, thanks for the reply. I checked the account permissions and the service account as well as the user account from which the installation were done, and the network are both local admins on the box. Anything else I can try?

Our installation covers 2,900 nodes and does not include Netflow (but does include SAM). I don't know how resource-intensive Netflow is as compared to SAM, but that should give you some idea for size comparison. Again, our polling cycles are longer than the defaults. I've attached a screen shot for reference.

Wow, really? While that will still work for a lot of equipment, the write command has been deprecated for over a decade now. It no longer exists in some newer equipment, including Nexus switches. Unless you have equipment running IOS 10 or older, you should use copy running-config startup-config (or copy run start)…

I tried this. I also tried logging out and back in, as well as using a different browser.

The main Orion server needs to be able to talk to the APE as well in order to allow management of the APE itself. In addition, best practice is that the APE shouldn't monitor itself (I monitor all my APEs from the primary server). If you're setting up Windows machines behind a firewall, you could consider using agents on…

This will work, but you will also need to create a custom reset condition of greater than 5% on the Warning alert. If you use reset when Trigger Condition No Longer Exists, the warning alert will reset when utilization drops below 2%, triggering a reset email and possibly creating confusion.

It happens even on pollers I don't have assigned to any nodes, or do I need to refresh after turning those off?
-
Do you still have the problem if you get rid of the "Must Exist for more than 3 minutes" condition? Also, how long is your polling cycle?
-
This alert condition, as currently written, will always evaluate true for all hardware sensors. "Status not equal to Up AND Status not equal to Unknown" is always true, since the condition cannot be both up and unknown at the same time. Assuming you're trying to trigger this for hardware sensors where the department is not…

Can you post screenshots of the trigger condition, reset condition, and trigger action?

Any update on this? We have a new NOC technician starting with us who is red/green colorblind and I would like to be able to adjust the icons to be more helpful to him. Thanks, ~Terry

The problem we are experiencing is as follows: 1. The physical FastEthernet/GigabitEthernet interface reports as up/up (because the Ethernet cable is connected to the DSL/Cable modem, and the modem is powered on, so there is an Ethernet link). 2. The Tunnel interface is reporting as up/up, apparently because the physical…

Awesome, thanks! Does this mean a port can be monitored for UDT without monitoring the interface for statistics?

Is there anything else I can do to monitor access to this site, or are you telling me that WPM will not work for this purpose?
