Thanks for the post. I've got this one tracked. Just curious, do you own Orion NPM as well?

ipMonitor can monitor serial interfaces, but it's only going to tell you whether or not it responded to ping. You'd need to use the custom SNMP wizard to poll the appropriate MIB to get any details about line protocol. If you're interested in more OOTB and advanced network-centric status and performance monitoring, you…

SmartMonitor settings contains a list of monitors that should be added if discovered. This setting is global. If you'd like to change this during your discovery of a new set of servers, you can modify SmartMonitor settings before you enter the monitor scanning step. So to summarize: 1) Specify range of IPs for new servers…

Are you running with a non-English version of Windows OS? What locale is your OS set to?
-
Yes, this is possible. NCM can leverage the NPM Syslog Server. See the NCM Admin Guide for details on how to setup Realtime Change Detection using Syslog Server.

I had this same problem in v3 and still have it in v4. When I get the e-mail to tell me which devices failed downloading there configs there are at least a dozen (I would be good to just get a list of the failed devices and not all devices). So when I try and sort these out in Cirrus and try manually logging in and…

Had you pushed out any bulk changes to the environment recently? This can cause multiple change detection events to be spawned at once. Also, did you enable logging (File > Settings > Realtime Change Detection > Config Change Settings)? If so, please open a support ticket and attach the RTN.log. You can reference #2344 in…

Are you running an evaluation of version 9 or a previous beta version? Also, would you please post your background image and the exact steps you took that resulted in the bad map? I'd like to try this in-house to see if I can reproduce. Thanks, -Chris

This doesn't sound like this is an issue we're going to be able to easily troubleshoot in the forum. Please open a ticket with support so we can track this appropriately and gather the appropriate logs.

1. The ability to specify an "EnterCLI" command has been added to v5 which is coming out on 9/29. If you are a Cirrus customer with active maintenance, you will get a free upgrade to v5. 2. You'll need to copy an existing device template and created one specific to your WS 5100 to change the commands used for download and…

Regarding the new version of TFTP Server, it requires .NET 2.0 or above which may be the reason for the error. Can you check to see whether you have .NET installed on your W2003 machine? If this is the issue, would you mind posting the exact error message? I'd like to ensure that if this is unclear that we get this fixed.

When you rerun the NCM Config Wizard, did you use an account with SA privileges to connect to your database. It's fine to specify the same service account for the NCM database, but you'll need an account with more privileges to update the tables the first time. After this initial configuration, it will leverage the service…

Once you're logged in automatically to NCM based on your AD account, go to File > logout. You should then see the login prompt again. Enter "Administrator" and your administrator password. Then, go to File > Manage Users and change the role on your AD account in NCM from Engineer to Administrator.

Sorry, our products and tools only run on Windows OS.
-
Thanks for your feature request. I've added this to our enhancement database (for internal folks this is #1149).
-
Not yet (in 5.0), but upload, download, and execute script from website is expected for 5.1
-
Yes, this is possible. NCM 5.0 and NPM 9.1 can be deployed on different database servers. One important thing to note is that the service account the Syslog Server is running under must have access to the NCM database server for the NCM Realtime Change Detection feature to function properly.
-
Do you have Engineer's Toolset TFTP server service started?
-
Eric, what version of IE are you using? Do you experience the same behavior in other browsers (e.g. Firefox)?
-
If the account is another domain this won't work, because IPM won't be able to impersonate that user to perform the action. What you might try is to create a local account on the target machine with appropriate privilege to restart services and then create another local account on the IPM host machine with the same…

I think your best bet is to contact tech support on this one and include details steps to reproduce.

Thanks for the suggestion and we definitely hear you. LANsurveyor actually leverages both CDP and LLDP. We plan on incorporating the discovery technology from LANsurveyor into our Orion platform so we'll be able to take full advantage of LLDP in future releases.

Can you check to see if you have substring search (the button with an 'S' on it) selected? If you unselect it, it should give you what you want.

I tried to upload a banner ... simple text, nothing complex, to our Cisco switches. It took six minutes. I can log into about 10 switches and manually upload the banner faster than NCM can do it. Why?!? This is extremely frustrating... I feel like Paul Bunyan with my axe easily beating the best of chainsaws. I've tried…

Thanks for your comments and we hear you. We're working on improving the performance of the Web Access logger to reduce lags in data and we'll certainly investigate any support cases you open around web access responsiveness. Having said that, our goal is to continue to offer the most affordable and easy to use Syslog…

Thanks for the post and you're absolutely correct. FYI, this is noted in the KB article. Perhaps we need to call this out more explicitly? Andy, can you handle this?

Please see my response to that post.

Example Script: configure set snmp trap-group snmp-traps targets 172.16.70.62 When trying to execute, it just hangs for a while then comes back with nothing. Also is there a way to debug the script execute? You were right. It's the changing of the prompt that is causing you issues. Try doing this instead:…
