We'll look into this one.

Unfortunately, as a public company, we cannot commit to specific features on specific timeframes. However, I can say I received a number of requests for this feature so it's certainly something we're considering for the next release.

Disabling node monitoring does not reduce the functionality of NCM at all. Your nightly config downloads should be fine. FYI, one thing that node monitoring does do beside status polling is rediscovery of system information. However, this is mitigated by scheduling an inventory job (which now includes a checkbox for system…

I agree with you. We're working on making it possible to access all Orion Advanced Alert variables in Syslog and Trap alerts. See this post for what we're working on as it relates to Syslog and Trap enhancements. In the interim, you'll see that there is a Hostname column when you view messages in the Syslog Viewer. This is…

This should be on your summary view home page. If not, you can click customize and add the Traffic View Builder resource.
-
Ok, great feedback. We were focusing our initial efforts on alerting if a particular application showed up on a NetFlow source, so it's sound like our prioritization is in the right place. This helps because threshold-based alerting on NetFlow traffic statistics is a lot more complicated.

Can you try using the same credentials you use when logging onto the NCM client (win32) application?

Please see:

Has everyone experiencing these issues submitted a case with support (either online or by phone)? I want to make we're tracking this inventory issue properly. If you have, can you please post your case # so I can see where we are on this issue.
-
Ok, I think you'll probably need to contact support so we can track this appropriately and work with you to diagnose. Initially, I thought this might be an authentication related issue with the account you were using to schedule the job.
-
What did you change in the template to make this work?
-
In 5.1, we've added the ability to group by custom property in the All Nodes resource and in operations on the Config Mgmt tab. Hopefully, that will make it much easier to see the results ;-)
-
Hey Bryan, we've transitioned some PM responsibilities and I now own Cirrus. Unfortunately, the effort to fix this issue was more significant than we originally thought so it didn't make the cut for v4.0.1 service release. We're still evaluating this for our 2H08 major release. For internal folks, this is being tracked as…
-
Just FYI, we're working on fixing the extraneous event log entry issue. If you have "monitoring of flows from unmanaged interfaces" option enabled, we'll suppress the "flows from unmanaged interface detected" event log entries since you have explicitly agreed that this behavior is acceptable.
-
Yes, I understand there could be similar y-axis scales from one interface to another. I have no issue with that as it makes sense. What doesn't make sense is the two y-axis units shown above in the screenshot. Look closely. Why does a chart for Percent Utilization have Kbps as the unit, and the same scale as the chart…

Can you please open a support ticket on this one and reference reproduction steps in your post? We'll need to try to reproduce in house to figure out what's going on.
-
Markku, I apologize. I didn't realize that you were the one that reported that issue with manually set transfer settings being changed on import. We've reproduced this in QA and we're looking at whether we can fix this in 5.5.1.
-
Yes, this is only set in the desktop application for the logged user's account. Orion NPM doesn't have this problem since there is no authentication in System Manager. I've added a request to allow alphabetical sorting by the node name even if vendor icon is listed first column. For internal folks, this is being tracked as…

It would create a new file each time.

Can you login to the router, reset the counters, and then do a show interfaces after 15 mins to see amount of traffic in/out. Then, compare this to what you see in NTA to see if it's in the ballpark for the same interfaces.
-
Actually, it shouldn't matter if it sends a trap when users enter into config t mode and don't change anything. NCM's realtime change detection doesn't rely on the trap event alone to tell you something has changed. As noted in the Admin Guide, you'll need to configure an alert action in the Trap Viewer that executes the…
-
Okay, we're going to need a session trace to diagnose this further. Please turn on session tracing (file > settings > session tracing) and then perform a config download on the device and include the resulting session trace with your post (<install dir>\Configuration Management\Session Tracing).
-
NCM doesn't ship with an SFTP or SCP server today. However, you can install your favorite SFTP or SCP server on the NCM box, and then change the device template to initiate the transfer using SFTP or SCP.
-
Bryan, Thanks for the feedback. I agree this would be a worthwhile enhancement. I'll add this to our tracking system and ensure this is considered for an upcoming release.
-
What happens when you try to login to NCM with a Windows local user account that is not in Windows admin group? Do you receive an error message or do just certain functions not work? Also, have you tried disabling UAC (Control Panel > Users)?
-
Yes. I would blank those out.
-
I'll have someone in sales contact you to walk you through your options.
-
Yes, you can use the APM Unix/Linux script monitor.
-
Thanks for answering those questions. Based on you requirements, here's what I would suggest doing: * Deploy Kiwi Syslog Server as a transparent proxy for Orion Syslog. Kiwi Syslog Server logs all data to the file system so you don't need to worry about any database (just disk space). It also provides the ability to…
-
Yes. For Unix and Linux, you'll need to setup the Syslog daemons included with the OS to send Syslog data to the Kiwi Syslog Server. For Windows event logs, you will need to use a third-party application. For this purpose, we recommend Snare Agent for Windows, which is freely available from:…
