Any update peter.kruty?
-
Hi Peter, Do you have an update on this as it is causing significant ongoing problems, especially as many people use the auto-update function of Firefox. Have tested the problem after reports and have 2 test machines both with Firefox 36.0.4, one of them fails with any file larger than 6KB, the other is all ok. Could you…

There appears to be a bug in hotfix 4.. Please see 0 byte files and partial uploads in Serv-U 15.1.7 Hotfix 4 (15.1.7.)

Serv-U's 'Event' action allows you to run a command line / program when such event occours, however I would be careful with this as it could launch many processes and you could run out of memory.

I am also interested in this but we want to acheive the opposite - allow File Sharing users to send but not receive/request files. Setting the 'Maximum number of files for 'Requested Shares' to 0 does not seem to have any affect. I can only imagine 0 means Unlimited. How can we disable sending or requesting and leave the…

I have also seen this activity but when maxed out the Serv-U.exe process only seems to use 25-30% CPU on Task Manager (probably because it is a 4-core server). Any ideas on giving serv-u.exe more processing power in high-load situations?
-
Very strange - I run it on 2012 R2 with a network share and it works fine. It sounds like Serv-U is the part actually blocking access to the user, try changing the Directory Access rules and home directory for the user - Also check the user isnt in a group that is revoking such permission.
-
Yes, I believe you need to create a System Administrator user within a domain for this.

Hi Tim, I have noticed this even with just standard non-DB users - Serv-U usually shows a baloon warning saying that large user collections wil ltake a while to load. We've been benefits with moving large lists of users out of the General user collection so that it doesnt take so long to load the user list initially. But…

The best you can do really is to get a list of most recently logged in users and the only way to do this is.. Domain > Users > Click 'Last Logged in' heading to order the list. ...and then screenshot it! Not ideal at all but its an option.

Unfortunalty, the license will not work on two servers at the same time, it will interrupt your live server. The best bet would be to follow up with support for a trial key to do your migration.

ivodlouhy Has anyone reported issues with stability since applying this hotfix? One of my Serv-U servers just stopped accepting any FTP or HTTP connections this morning. The Serv-U.exe process had hung and was just running at 0% CPU, could not get on it for a few hours and eventually just had to restart the service. Has…

I havent seen this before or heard of JRun but could it be something linked to the Java detection in Serv-U for using Web Client Pro or FTP Voyager JV? You would need someone from Solarwinds to confirm exactly what is loaded and what might be triggering this, bshopp, can you help?

Hi Dany, I think I understand the requirement. Serv-U does not support directly linking to files through HTTP or HTTPS, nor does it provide HTTP Basic Authentication access to the interface. All authentication is processed directly through Serv-U rather than it being like a web server serving files from a file structure…

Hi Darren, Did you create the file request before or after changing the IP? Is it possible to change the IP back to give it a test and see if that resolved the issue/is the root cause?

This hotfix appears to have introduced a major bug so that no files can be uploaded via SFTP when using WinSCP (any recent version). I have posted the bug here, any thoughts.. Latest Serv-U Hotfix breaks WinSCP file uploads over SFTP (No such file)
-
Serv-U does not have this functionality, however you could potentially create an Event for when a file is uploaded - fire a batch file that creates a .md5 hashed version of your file and then you could download and compare it in your application.
-
If you set up the domain activity log you can look back in the log to see if the user connected with port 80 (HTTP), 443 (HTTPS), 21 (FTP/FTPS) or 22 (SFTP).

Hi Mike, The current version of Serv-U is 15.1.7, you can download it from Customer Portal Login | SolarWinds Whilst I would not recommend using an old version, if you need to get into it, you could try right clicking the tray icon and selecting 'Use System Browser' and make it load up the management console in Chrome for…

Has this worked before for the user? Does the production server work?
