It does not. People really need to be educated about passwords and this security. Understanding commonalities and and congruency between your password and projected personal self may reduce the amount of colleagues that can guess your password within a few tries. You would never think this too much of an issue until you…

IT's so simple it's stupid! ... I guess if you're going to run this stand alone.. it's crazy that this idea that is pitched to managers these days. This post echo's what a data center manager once told me about creating a NOC. The jist was having all these different tools up and visible showing every different environment…

First contact resolution is always a winner in my book. But most of those on the front lines do not have the proper tools to make this happen. I'd rather get someone with a internal KB and critical thinking skills who may be a little dry but can help rather than some over friendly script reader, who repeats most everything…

lol... in some cases dumb luck that the inventor did not die; like that guy flying a kite in a storm.

So does ESA record their space walks in a Hollywood studio, or do they have their own?

Knowing your business model is key regardless of where you sit in the company. It may change your focus slightly and shed light on critical systems and operations that an IT-Pro may be able to shed light or report on...

Look two weeks back to see if you have any "reopened tickets" and you may see trends either with groups or techs that you can then remedy. If you are able, new tickets with 'unresolved' or 'unresolved ticket/request/etc' is what I see most in our system.. Find your user trends and terminology to search for those closed…

Awesome Blast of the past reminder! I wish I had more insight into the logging of users and access - but info sec and account admin take care of that bag. Though regular audits on account use might prevent an old user from coming back and using a service account to gain access.

Indeed, calendar events are a great way to remind myself to do certain clean up events. Even weekly and/or monthly just to check up on certain things. It's a tough task when you realize no nodes have been added to groups in a month or two, or other custom labeling is absent - possibly effecting reporting and alerting

So I thought I minute about this Question today. Within the last 24 hours (considering this is normally within your details tables - provided your time frame of Statistic Detail retention is inclusive of this time frame) your Max Average would equal or be less than the Max Used, not more. This is because each value has the…

If you don't double check what you have clicked already, you're not going to check the list that shows asking, "are you sure?"

I automate all the logging/tracking and paper work I can..it has seem to become the job behind my job. We have a lot of old schoolers who don't jive with all that turn the crank and watch stuff. We let the machines do some of the simple stuff.

So many cheap electronic setup's with some of the facilities devices. We've run into many devices having issues with broadcast blowing out the tcp stack. Isolated little networks reside across the board for these darn things. On top of that many folks if they are even watching the gear may only be checking a ping to the…

I am with that. As long as mgmt for this option still comes from the 'Admin' - So you don't end up with a user who adds a few more menu's than their screen size would be able to handle.

Jfrazier that's how it all started. Write your lines of code and document, notate, make notes of what each line or section does, label a Function with the details of where it applies and what it calculates. Once you cross a few hundred if not few thousand lines of code your lack of documentation will drive you nuts! If it…

I have had details back fire... and not even when it was excessive. I think it depends on your customer's personality type X (Multiplied) by their Curiosity. Sometimes the wrong detail, or even right detail with the wrong word starts them down the rabbit hole.

That would be an understatement

More new than old, but there are those certain system in place that have been here before some of you were even born. We are on a constant change of improvement and integration. The idea is creating a seamless system of applications and processes to stream line the user, visitor or guest expeditiously through the…
