But I have also seen some people/places that only use you for reference and knowledge and then go buy from the 'other guys', even when we started pulling back on details we had a few that would make a purchase then ask their questions. Then we would see them the within the week returning that product to us(only a few did…

I think I finally have stories matched with each scenario.. it's a good thing I have a tool to do mass firmware upgrades... otherwise that would be taking up my time this morning. ... wait - is this story potential?!?

the sole reason I stick around... your follies are my success! Unless you succeed, then I am on your team. But really I was just, Waiting for Bacon.

We are so large, not everyone would need this type of mass break down - though for isolation of devices or the idea of scoping for growth it can be beneficial.

I must concur.

Programming, Scripting, understanding simple Boolean expressions... all goes back to the basic Logic of what we do and how it all works. If you lack the basic understanding it's going to be difficult trying to troubleshoot any advanced problem.

Are the Licenses transferable? I mean my monitored sandwich today will only be a memory tomorrow - will I be able to reuse that probe without exhausting my deploy-able elements. I'm thinking I just need the SLX license. (Sandwich License Unlimited) instead of the SL250.

Nice, thanks for the details.

You would never know unless you were there...I had an old co-worker (ex-marine) who was sitting on the other side Russian border in the 80's with his unit about to fire on a nuclear missile transport convoy. The order came back to stand down just before they were about to fire. One more catastrophe averted? And on that…

We rely heavily on the configuration changes displays and back ups / reference to the last config saved before a change. Solarwinds NCM : Saving Bacon Daily! And with the increasing cost of swine, you can't go wrong!

My only issue is the time frame, if the device is truly lost 3 days later it would be out of battery. If you are SIM capable, you can pull the SIM and still may have access to some data on the device and without your SIM you lose the WIPE ability since it powered up and did not connect. But then again, who is thinking…

Restore to just before your first attempt at that update. Then Skip it.

The moment a vendor uses an industry standard rather than the proprietary model they have developed the door is open to competition. No more do you need 'their specific solution' and now any tool works... very bad for future sales, but very good for market competition and other smaller 'market forces' to enter the game and…

The tabular pollers, or even just the module status poller is good to alert on. You can also monitor the Stack Interfaces. I would like to see the module status, power, stack port, and module status all covered in the hardware health, and then let me customize what in that I want to expose, or even monitor and then alert…

Shop, Shop, Shop!!! .. no not really. I am removed from the vast enterprise environment that I grew up in working at home these days. I have also found out that I am the only user on my ISP's block. That said, no bandwidth issues really come up unless there are a large number of devices somehow connected to my…
