I have used oidview.com's MIB DB (Free MIB Download Search MIBs SNMP - Free MIB Download - OiDViEW IT Management Tools) to help me find specific OID's that I need for some devices; or to pull the tables all together.

Correct, I do not. Regardless of that, even when you pay cash, they still take a picture of your plates... I figure they will do that until Uncle Sam makes the Auto MFg'ers put a chip in that they can track. Wanted : 1974 Vista Cruiser

is there an echo? HA! ..... So I started looking for google images of Twenty Six Red clothing, seems its a long lost forgotten bit of the apparel industry from the 90's. I don't think I've ever owned more than two(2) red t-shirts at a time... it tends to keep the crew losses down.

I know it's not quite what we desire here but you can Add a column and sort from the Manage Nodes Page to show these unknown interfaces. Add the Column, 'Node Overall Hardware Status(Node) - Status Change Property selection from Nodes to Interfaces Then Sort by the Added Column (descending) and status 17 will be your…

Where ever your checklist lies in the process I would put verifying that no default passwords or strings are being used at the top or very near to the top of that checklist. In my experience that is one of the easiest ways to gain access to a device on the network or the network itself. Very nice recap, that was a great…

I get it! I am right there with you all! 'I am you!' But how much is too much? Add 1, 2, 3, or 5 Tabs? I would say with the customization of Tabs, and customizing the 'default/home' tab you may not need more than 1 or 2 extra other than the App specific Tab already there. Forgive my 's Advocate for just a moment . Don't…

Silly WAT Admin... always in the way. * I would disable it, restart and then try again; but my version is different than yours (assuming).

Keep it Light, Tight and Bright! Keep Rawkin'

lol....most don't even notice these, it's merely a novelty at best and the fact that I know they are there.

I would prefer an overall Admin Undo option to undo any action done by a user....but I can deal with a Recycle Bin for the Recycle Bin as long as I have a trash can to help manage all that as well.

I say let's monitor IT - whatever it is, the device, the system, the platform, the app! Whatever they come up with, we can show IT off! The collaboration is the key, with partners in development, implementation and maintenance and support it's easy to make sure you are working with well homed systems. When you do not have…

This is great! Theoretical testing is a great way to expose possible issues you may face during the actual deployment, as well as understanding the process and being at the forefront for troubleshooting and working through those possible issues.

superfly99 just about summed it up, except we are not setup to back up each time a change it made. I am beginning to setup a few more policy reports to show off problem area's or things that are not setup correctly. Inventory is a must as well, and reports to no end, especially when combining custom polled fields to pull…

So Right!!! Can't tell you how many times I have been told, Monitor Node X....with no further details. Or - 'Are we monitoring traps' or 'do we have trap alerts?' Only to followup with, what traps do you want to alert on, or what do you want to monitor.... and then one time engineering just started enabling ALL traps from…

It's all about budget in the end. But along the way if you have someone who has had that bad experience they will push the 'need'. The hard part, and possibly the crux of any manager/director is that balance of the resources along with the resourceful staff to run and maintain them. In any sort of aftermath having too much…

Test, test, test; burn in a new image/update .. very awesome read.

Normally I would not think of the DNS and DHCP, but after seeing this mentioned it all comes together in a magical symphony of electrons. Last thing you want after a switch goes down(or even just the PoE on a mod, or whatever.. re-seat of the mod brings it back easy) is for your phones to stagnate when they should be…

We use the NCM for a lot of these, it's the bottom of the list that needs a slight improvement - currently we take a regular inventory or hardware/software and modules/cards (even custom reporting shows this a few different way since we are so Big), Configurations and Inventory reports and jobs are staggered within NCM to…

'Sandwich Contents' Tabular Poller ROW ID 7 (Beef Option) Covers this. Of course if you have Turkey or Pork Pastrami that Row ID would show your value, and then Row ID 12 (OTHER) - would display your Pastrami / brined Meat option.

Just awesome and thanks for this write up... it will be read again very soon!

#Truth gcp & adatole's friend got it so right. It's knowing what to do with that data after you have it.

Bookmarked to re-read another day after traces of tryptophan have left my head.

hmm, option for a loopback? or another like virtual interface to be used for monitoring that is accessible from all paths...just an idea.
-
I could see this being useful. Currently we add that info to the Description of any important interface, so we know where the other end is. You might be able to add the topology mapper to your server details page to get at least a little more information about what it connects to.

be excellent to each other
