I do not consider SaaS at all, I am sure it may be vendor driven, determined by a specific solution.

A world where everyone lives and breathes and plays together.. Logs get along with other logs and the world is magical. .... i think logs are the last covet around here. Share them? Preposterous!

Personally I have not had the chance to develop test data to use for Dev. Normally Dev environments have been setup for the devices that certain departments needs to test, keeping them isolated from other Dev instances that could be used to interact and with given test proper test data we would have had that opportunity to…

Holy Cow... It takes me just as long to catch up as I spend away. Had another little one and was out from Mid Jan to Almost the end of Feb. This is the first that I have seen of this post - I have wondered a couple of times Where the Warm Smiling Grey Haired Fellow LG was hiding. I am sorry to hear he has moved on to a…

Scalability is the same reason my AP's through controllers instead of inputting them by IP and polling them individually. & why I am looking for new views/reports in the content exchange

Those customers get crafty once they learn the key words that make you jump... they start showing up in most of their tickets.

Turning off the noise is one of my big priorities this year!

I always find myself clicking the flag to bring in a few custom properties to help my searches and sorting from the node management view. Even more so, changing them depending on the type of node I am looking to dig into. Good insight.

only insomniacs are 3 AM Friendly.... but still most are not very friendly at 3 AM.

snmpwalk is a great tool... my suggestion is to pick a new tool each day until you have at least seen them all... otherwise you just miss out.

It could go that way with whatever you do. If your shop is small enough to be the "only guy" who can do something they are toast when you hit that brick wall coming back from Friday lunch. Either documented SOP's or "the other guy" needs to be there so they can at least turn the knobs and keep the reactor from overheating.

Just glad someone requested this. Essential when building maps, we may not see a full view of layering - but at least : move forward / Move Backward / move to front / move to back

Wrangling users can be a fun event, the point and click aspect makes it far too easy for the end user to not click that shiny pop up!

China watches the NSA. It is difficult to not turn this to a political tirade. Over sight is a tricky business to be in. Where does the transparency really need to be and who are those sighting the injustices accountable to. In business is based on policy, the Government / social aspect of this is a entirely different ball…

Excellent. It pays to be well versed in your craft. As being able to 'play through your mistakes' makes the different between playing the full song, and getting stuck in the middle - this goes with anything, not just the guitar.

And the reason I am bookmarking this one... if I could categorize it would be, 'Insight I will need later'

Serious read here, though I think the best thing for a good running system is a DB admin who knows what they are doing. These are massive DB's and even just finding some lines to adjust or customize setup can take several minutes. Administering from a novice standpoint is not the way to do this. At least setup the app…

Great write up kong.yang; Thanks. I think gsutherland@sharoncu.com has the idea spot on...The lack optimization is what will keep you banging on the dash and kicking the tires more than cruising. Before you know it you've got this classic that isn't so classic with it's rusty, cantankerous personality.

This should be a thing. wluther, familyofcrowes, rschroeder get it started

I always find it a joy when everything works but monitoring....
