To me it's like anything else, the tool is only 20% of the solution, people and process are the other 80%. If you don't encapsulate the monitoring system with the right people and process to properly manage it then you won't get any value out of the system. 

This isn't a bug, this is because Orion looks at memory as a volume by design. If you click the Edit button on that resource and add a filter to only look at Fixed Disks then the memory will no longer appear. The filter you want is as follows... VolumeType = 'Fixed Disk'
