On the Multiple Universal Device Poller chart there is no option to choose the row to display when I click edit. That option is available on the standard UnDP chart and is what I am used to using; its what I use to show only the aggregate utilization on my NetApp graphs.

tomasv thanks for the suggestion; however, that looks like it's for making changes to SSL and TLS on the Orion server. In my case the changes were made to the end-node that we are monitoring and that caused things to stop working.

Thanks, if I can verify that we will be using this product in the future I will create the request, thanks!
-
Are you applying this to a dynamically addressed (has the 'dynamic' box checked) node by chance? No, all of our nodes are statically addressed.
-
Exactly what I was looking for, thanks Brian!
-
Thanks Marie This isn't something I need right away. We are just in the process of moving to a more virtual infrastructure and I was having difficulties understanding how the two products compare.
-
Awesome, thanks so much!

Technically, switching to syslogs from traps would be possible; getting people to accept that change may be a bit more difficult. If I do switch to syslogs we still run into a lot of the same or similar problems though; alerting my techs of the important stuff while squelching out all of the noise. There are certainly logs…

I am going to need to agree with tinmann0715 that we need a way to get the logs necessary for compliance.

The SQL server that is being monitored was patched. I am running Orion 10.0 with APM 3.5; Orion and APM have not changed. I can open a ticket, no problem. However, I was hoping that somebody here could tell me what the APM error "Unexpected Error Occurred. The Network Path Was Not Found." means.

An example of a received event is as shown below, the actual event in the Windows Event Log has a lot more data. Is it normal for LEM to truncate a bunch of information out of the log?
-
Thanks guys, sounds like I can go ahead with the install and I always have SolarWinds support to back me up if things don't go so well... that and the snapshots I will take ahead of time.
-
Thanks for the response. I was aware of the size limitation of SQL Express. I am curious if it will handle the insallation so long as I don't use crazy polling intervals and data retention?
-
I went in and looked at my graph on this and also found several spikes 140000000%. Something seems incorrect about this calculation. You mention the counter rolling as a potential issue. I have some interfaces that no matter what I set them to (32 or 64 bit) they occationally throw very odd and ridiculously high numbers at…

Thanks for the feedback! We have plenty of CPU and memory and the SQL server is all on Solid State disks so there should be no issues there.

Instead of completely disabling UAC, aren't there security policy options you can change so that this will work with UAC still enabled?
-
Thanks Nicole! So if I understanding your response correctly, I don't have a field I can use where I can always reliably get an IP address for the detecting node?
-
There are not any firewalls, routers, or ACLs in the way. We have tried most of the steps in the guide you have provided but will try and go through and do the few steps we may have missed. What is odd is the problems we are having seem consistent with Windows 2012, we haven't had any WMI problems (outside of the normal…

I am running version 12.5.0.
-
While this is certainly an answer, it's not exactly what I was hoping to hear. I hope there are plans to resolve this.
-
Sweet, thanks Marie!
-
techbender good question, I have updated my post to include a screenshot of the final result. Add a Subnet Cheat Sheet to your Orion Menu.pdf
-
Thanks for the response! I am displaying 10 columns. I should note that the last time I tried to use Chrome with Orion it had problems with several of the Windows in APM for managing applications.
-
I think one of the things I struggle with in LEM is the inability to see what the actual definitions for the alerts are. I am one of those people that needs to fully understand what I am working with and in this case it just isn't possible. You can certainly go into the policy section of the appliance and see some of the…

Thanks for the update! The good news is after a lot of convoluted steps my Hyper-V engineer was able to finally get it working. Having a more streamlined process would certainly be appreciated.
-
KMSigma I really appreciate you sharing that; however, I feel like some of the basics are clearly missing here. Getting this setup should be a simple process and I am now several weeks behind and it still isn't working. My Hyper-V engineer is taking a stab at it today to see if he can get it working.

I use a scheduled discovery for a list of nodes and populate the list based on what is in Orion already. (I'll figure out how I did that and post it in a bit) When you do the scheduled discovery of already existing nodes, do you re-add them to Orion? How do you handle that?

At this point that is too many servers to scan in one job. I would break it up into 20 servers max at a time. Well, it's still scanning and hasn't appeared to break anything, it's just taking forever. In my environment of over 500 nodes I kinda sorta need something that can handle more than 20 at a time.

My understanding is that the problems with APM and the HTTP monitor has been resolved in the current version, is this not the case? IP SLA is a great way to do this. We have implemented a state wide network performance monitoring scheme using IP SLA and it's pretty amazing. We actually did this all before the IP SLA tool…

So, if you are using a manually configured UDG, how do you confirm you are capturing all of the correct nodes since we already established we can't for sure rely on name or IP?
