Ah, ok, that makes sense!

Thanks for this. For some reason it seems like this should be a much more simple task.

I am currently using the SNMP informant undp you uploaded on a few servers and the graphs work great. I can't get the gauges to work however. Do the gauges only work with the disk I/O APM and not the SNMP undp or am i just configuring something wrong? The good news is you are not configuring anything wrong. The bad news is…

Definitely let me know what you hear back from support on this, I am very curious. Not sure if you opened a ticket or called them but I have found with LEM I tend to get much better response by calling.
-
So is it then true that every time I make a new report I will need to make a copy of it on each additional web server that I am using?
-
So if it's an agent node will the DetectionIP always be the system name as reported by the agent? That bit about the rule to catch things that you don't know about is awesome, I am totally going to use that.
-
I am glad you have working, that gives me hope that it isn't some odd problem associated with Server 2012. I did browse for component monitors, that is how I tested to determine the problem seemed to be specific to WMI.
-
Thanks; however, my problem isn't disabling them as I know how to do that. The issue is when I tried disabling them it broke Orion which indicates to me that Orion may be still relying on TLS 1.0 and/or 1.1. What I am looking for is confirmation on if Orion Web Server supports running on just TLS 1.2 and if so what…

aLTeReGo one more question comes to mind here: How many of the components in the SQL Server User Experience monitors apply to specific instances versus the database environment overall?
-
Thanks for that, exactly the level of detail I was looking for!
-
Oh we tried all of that. My issue was escalated up and I spent weeks trying to get it to work. We changed timeouts, disabled the heavier components and looked through bunches of diag logs. The database in question had over 700 databases running on it.

Thanks for the update Roger! When I assign a template the application name is automatically assigned based on the name of the template so I assumed it was intended for this to be inherited. Since this is not the case, how is it possible to do bulk name changes to applications?

Hi Bryon-- R u interested in participating in the NPM 10.1 RC program? M Well, I would love to; however, I don't currently have the resources (system(s)/lab or time) to do so. I try to review all of the upcoming product documentation and post my feedback when I can though.

SolarWinds does have a solution for realtime log management with their LEM product.
-
NPM and NCM do not share a database. Both of their databases may be located on the same DBMS but they are not the same. If you want to group nodes for the sake of alerting in NPM then Custom Properties are your best bet.

I will see if I can pull something together tomorrow. Do you have a secure way for me to send you this information if I am able to get some examples?
-
I have opened a a ticket on this. Case #128211

I have run into this problem as well. This workaround isn't going to casue any problems in the future? I am guessing that the file referenced to delete in the workaround is just an unnecessary file?
-
I am curious, are the people that are experiencing the slowness of the web interface using the web server located on the core NPM system or are they using the additional web server component? I personally found the web performance to be a bit slow (not unusably slow) on the core NPM system but we use the additional web…

tomasv you are correct, my apologies. When I first read through that I had misunderstood the problem that it was fixing. Now I am torn between trying this change or just upgrading SAM. I guess I will need to check with the team to see how urgent this is. Thanks again for pointing out the article. Also, thanks joe.tran…

I'm curious, does this retention policy (or lack of it) apply for traps too ? I don't see how I can retain my trap for 12 months in my solarwinds app. No, traps use their own retention policy. Trap retention is configured from within the Trap Viewer console tool on older versions but is configured in the Admin section of…

aLTeReGo awesome, thanks for the follow-up!

The report contains a LOT of virtual machines, I know most of them should have the data. Will the entire report have no data if only one or two nodes are missing it?
-
Good point, I have seen that one as well.
-
I have also experienced this problem, this problem only started since I upgraded to 10.1.1.
-
Whey you say vCenter lags behind; how long are you talking? When I see this problem where Orion is not showing the same as vCenter I am talking days and sometimes weeks. It feels to me like it just isn't going to pick it up at all. I can certainly try direct polling to see if that resolves the problem but I would really…
-
Andy If you poll less frequently and you have your counters wrap several times between polls, wouldn't that result in data transfer that is unaccounted for in a byte-count billing model?
-
Well, I was thinking something like the following... KB = octets/1000 However, with the provided data I am pretty sure I can figure it out. I guess I was hoping that by seeing the actual formulas I would be able to identify what is causing the differences between what Orion is reporting and what our current Bandwidth…

Hi Byron, I looks like you are interested in how we sum ifInOctets and ifOutOctets to total byte transfered by time period. I'll chase that down. Exactly what I am looking for! I assume by this that the OID's you start with are ifInOctets and ifOutOctets? I had a pretty good idea that is what you would use but wanted to…

Did you not see the response from Andy that suggests how to accomplish this?
