As far as the snmpd.conf file is concerned, I don't think you really need to configure much as a default install usually works for me. In the SolarWinds Orion NPM Administrators guide available on their website there is an entire section dedicated to using the UnDP, you should probably take some time to read that, no point…

Ok, thanks for the response Chris. We don't have a huge need for this capability on Linux as I have just been informed by our Linux engineer. I just figured it would be worth an inquiry.

Restrict a user to only be able to modify maps that he is responsible for. I do not want him to be able to see or make changes to maps that do not pertain to his location. This is not possible. In Orion when a user has Node Management rights they always have rights to manage ALL nodes, this is also true with Network Atlas…

Any update to this, I just ran into the same thing. I don't think our ASA was pushing 4.5 Gbps of data on a 1 Gbps link. Most of the spikes seem to be in the 500 Mbps range but there is no way we could generate that much traffic. If you haven't already; enable 64bit Counters on the device and change your Counter Rollover…

rob.hock I ran into some problems with Groups and UnDP's since the upgrade to 11.5.2; today when I called support (Case #807196) regarding these issues the tech on the phone was trying to suggest that RC's are not supported. I had to specifically point out this conversation to get him past it. I am a little frustrated as…

rob.hock thanks again! I think I will probably move forward using the 11.5.2 RC tonight. I assume it's compatible with 6.1.1 just as 11.5.1 was?

Can you post a screen shot of the errors that you are seeing when you do an snmpwalk on the node from Orion. Also, when you go into the Orion web interface and attempt to add the node to Orion, what problems do you encounter?
-
I have added the Alerts to our Content Exchange in case you did not receive the Alerts in the 10.1 Upgrade: Alert me when a managed node has not been polled during the last 5 tries Alert me when a managed node last poll time is 10 minutes old Sean These alerts indicate to me that they will fire if a node is not getting…

Is it supposed to function like that now? If not that is a good idea for the Feature Request.
-
So, it sounds like if rebooting the server (the poller) doesn't get that number to go down, the next step would be the uninstall/re-install of the Job Engine/Collector.

Do have any idea when the Multiple Object charts will be moved to the new charting library?
-
I did try reducing the number of data points in the graphs and that didn't seem to make a big difference. This is why I go back to it likely being an issue with the query that pulls Application Component data into a Multiple Object chart.

You can bulk unmanage nodes for a specified time by going into the Manage Nodes section of the admin intarface, select the nodes/interfaces you wish to unmanage and then choose the "Unmanage" option at the top and specify your date/time range. The nice part about this is you can group them how ever is best for you such as…

I am pretty sure that there is a feature request in for this.

rob.hock thanks for the reply. It's not entirely clear to me what this new licensing model look like. Currently Core is provided with the other Orion components (SAM, NPM, etc); is that going to change to a model where you license Core separately and then add the different components on top of that? If so that would make…

The node is showing up correctly in the Win32 console. We do have the NPM integration module installed and the node does not currently exist in NPM. So, if I understand correctly; when you have integration module installed you need to have the node in both NPM and NCM for the node to show up in the NCM web interface?

So, i did confirm I could login to SQL using SSMS without an issue; in this case it's a Domain Admin account that has been given access to SQL using the specific permissions called out by the SolarWinds documentation. I also tried switching it over to a different Domain Admin account that also has Sysadmin permission on…

Thanks aLTeReGo, I will try that first thing in the morning. I know on most nodes (as you pointed out in my other thread) that AppInsight for SQL should be showing up in the List Resources section as a discover resource, that isn't happening in this case. I am curious how Orion discovers that as a possible resource to be…

Anyway, I may buy a new server and move Solarwinds to it. And give the 4GB server entirely to the Database. I have seen that you have told me that you have a 32GB server for it. Do I need that much¿? The Windows I actually have is a 32 bits and I would need to change it too. How many resources you need and how you design…

Thanks! I just created it yesterday to try and solve some software tracking issues. I realize it wasn't exactly what you were looking for but I figured something was better than nothing. If you have APM you may be able to write a script that collects the service pack information via WMI.
-
I have also had this problem and out of curiosity if you should not use suppression why is it there? Will it be removed? Thanks. It's not that you can't or shouldn't use Alert Suppression. You just need to be very careful how you use it and make sure you fully understand how it functions before you use it, otherwise you…

The Net-SNMP version is 5.0.9. Another weird issue we're seeing is that certain processes are always showing as down saying the process could not be found. The admins can show that yes the process is still up and some have been up for a few months. I am also experiencing this.
-
Say you have a network of one switch with ten attached nodes. You also have 10 other nodes that are not attached to that switch. Then you construct a node down alert for all 21 nodes but include a suppression condition for the switch-attached nodes based on the status of the switch. With our current proposed understanding…

When you go to your alerts console how many alerts do you see in a tripped state?
-
That would be very awesome! I guess that may imply that I have something to look forward to.
-
Thanks! Being able to assign the App Templates is the only bit I really care about.

Just got word yesterday we're getting NUMARA. So, if anyone has any tips .etc about how to make it work with Orion please let me know. We use Numara Footprints for our ticketing system. I have Orion configured to open tickets in Footprints by sending email to it. You can add specific data in the body of the email that will…

We have APM now with current support for unlimited licensing so I expect that will just move to SAM when it changes on the next release.

RT 1. About RT, you said that your company used this when your just starting. Does that mean it is now scalable? 2. And, what technical expertise are required to configure RT? as what you've mentioned on your post. RT is scalable. It wasn't nearly as nice as it is now back when we were using it so we moved to a different…

Hrm, well it says SP1 but I swear I saw SP2 referenced somewhere in my install. I guess I will get SP2 installed as soon as possible, thanks!
