ikomrad, Check out the SolarWinds Lab training schedule. They're very informative and a few are offered most every week. You can also go into your customer portal, click - Support, then select Virtual Classroom. There are many videos here covering a variety of tasks within NPM and other modules. Best of all, free and you…

Cheeseboard, I have attached a pdf document that should show you everything from creating the Report to creating the scheduled notifications emailing the report. Let me know if there is anything I missed or if you need any other assistance. Butch

DanielleH, I've searched the entire Thwack site and see no updates since 2012 on this subject. Is there and update on the" handling of devices with multiple IPs"? Roadmap comment is 3 years old and just wondering where SW is on this subject. To poll multiple IP assigned to a single device, I have to create a totally…

Wish I could have offered up something better. Good Luck and hope you get it figured out. Don't forget to post the fix once you find it so that others that might be experiencing this issue will be able to find and use for remediation.

fieldwalk, FYI.... The Customer Portal is the SolarWinds Support site where you logon to download software, service packs, and create support tickets. You can access the customer portal by going to http://www.solarwinds.com and the link is at the top of the page or go straight there here:…

mrs.alterego, Not really a problem, just sort of caught me off guard after so many years of postings on Thwack that my name was being replaced with asterisks. All previous posts are just fine, but new ones are being replaced. Not a problem truthfully, but just didn't want to give the appearance that I was cursing on the…

Cheryl, Leon has created a very thorough comparison and posted it here on Thwack: SNMP_vs_WMI_20130412.docx and also here: Re: SNMP vs WMI polling - pros and cons These two documents should give you a good grasp on the SNMP or WMI debate! I use them both depending on what data I am retrieving and demand on the server. Hope…

I just noticed that you are using IP monitor....sorry Geoff, I am using Orion NPM and as such am not sure if the setup is the same.

I feel your pain!

andeporter, Support has been getting better since my original post. I have had great success with the LEM team and decent with all other teams lately. Advice for support tickets. 1) Get your log files downloaded and submit when opening the case. 2) Search Thwack Communities for solutions that might expedite remediation 3)…

familyofcrowes, I agree that I have had to call in most of the time to get response on a case! Unlike your experiences, I have had great response from Cisco TAC and Riverbed, but still lagging on the SW side. I hope all gets better for us all in the new year! B

thamizh85, Sorry to hear you are having support issues too! I really was hoping this was a oneof and things would improve. Still waiting on all things to improve in regards to support and still hoping SW gets it all sorted out and I can just get back to a working product! B

Added this years ago and still the Ecessa, aka Astrocom, devices are not included in the SolarWinds MIB file. Will you ever add this device or am I wasting my time trying to get access to devices that SolarWinds will never add to the MIB file? Just asking because we have numerous modules with SolarWinds NPM such as SAM,…

Most of the time, it's a simple fix! Thought you had access after the "admin" comment. Note to self.... Always think security when access is denied to an object! DOH!

This solution worked like a charm! Thanks! Butch

Without knowing the complete configuration of the Alert, I cannot assist. If you can provide a screen shot of the Alert to include the Property to Monitor and the Alert Trigger from the Alert Interface it would help.

Can you provide a screenshot of the Property To Monitor and the Alert Trigger from the Basic Alert Interface?

It is wanting the lan facing and wan facing NIC ports on the Steelhead appliance for the report. The inpath0_0 is the virtual representation of the physical connection between the lan0_0 and the wan0_0. The report uses these two interfaces to calculate what comes in and out and then can use these numbers to calculate…

BakerD, I don't know if you are still working on this or have completed now, but the quick answer is yes. The RB SH's do use the In_Path 0_0 Interfaces when you are set up in In_Path mode. One of your In_Path 0_0 interfaces faces the WAN and one faces the LAN and these are the two Int's that will be used to configure the…

Already done....it was just taking all day for them to get back with an answer....and I finally got contacted by support at about 6pm EDT......wow 8 hour response time....but they got me all fixed up....had to actually delete a few reports that were causing the xml error.

Alex, The autonomoussystem is used by BGP to designate the Network as internal/external. It can be self identified on a private Network, or designated by your ISP. Explained a bit more here: Cisco IOS In a Nutshell and explained in detail here Cisco BGP AS Hope this helps.

Nice addition. Thanks!

Miron, I am in total agreement with this request! We are monitoring numerous PDU's and to have it built into NPM would be fantastic. Instead, as you have alluded to, we have to build custom properties add custom poller objects and build custom views. This, I thought, would be included within NPM since most all…

Customer Portal - Downloads, Hot Fixes/Patches, Trials, and of course Support Tickets (still wondering why????) I joined Thwack back when Thwack wasn't such a good thing! Now it is a much better tool for research, training, and problem solving with a bunch of great community members! Thwack - Daily (Most useful area for…

vCenter comes built with canned Alerts. Using the "Host storage status" canned alert you can setup notifications from within the actions tab. You can generate an SNMP Trap and alert on the trap. You can generate an email directly from vCenter. If you deleted the canned Alerts, you can create a new one from scratch.

Head Geek, Leon Adato has created an overview of SNMP vs WMI here: SNMP vs WMI polling - pros and cons

TIA, You aren't going to get much usable information on any port except the LAN interface of the Steelheads since all of the optimized traffic hitting the WAN port will be identified as coming from your optimized service port settings on your RB SH until it is replaced and forwarded by the SH itself. Hope this helps!
