Chan1012, question for you, how many WPM players do you have in your environment and how many transactions are you monitoring. I ask this only because I ran into an issue with false positive alerts and my fix might help you. When we first started seeing this issue I quickly stood up a second WPM player. I then mirrored all…

cool, thanks! I can feel my blood pressure dropping already.

I agree with you on many fronts. I often say Solarwinds is the best swis-army knife out there. However it's horrible screwdriver, wrench, knife, etc... Which results in buying other applications that fit those roles, which then leads to having multiple software suites pretty much doing the same thing except for the one…

It's part too many tools but largely it's people/teams resistance to change or unwillingness to give up control. I've discovered people hide different tools because they want to keep control of their environment, they don't want other people seeing what they have and/or it somehow validates their team. I've had one team…

We applied the buddy fix late Friday as an emergency change. We definitely saw a drop in CPU and Memory usage, but it's not looking good so far. From the screen shot below you can clearly see when the buddy patch was installed and the memory usage dropped. Then it steady climbed over the weekend and then suddenly jumped…

I might be looking at it incorrectly, but I don't see anything "growing" in PerfMon. I definitely see spikes. But something is definitely growing.

aLTeReGo, I can't speak for other people, but yes is the Solarwinds.ServiceHost.Process that's eating up the memory in our environment. This screenshot says it all, Solarwinds.ServiceHost.Process is talking 6.45 Gig of memory from one system, while taking over a Gig of memory on other systems.

Jaykumar, I honestly don't recall making any special changes to Solarwinds to receive and process SNMP v3 traps. According to Solarwinds support docs "Trap View Support for SNMPv3" and "Create alert based on a SNMPv3 trap condition" it pretty much comes down to the configuration of the device you're trying to managed.…

The drops are from me responding to alerts that I created for myself. The alert is a MSMQ folder threshold notification. Before the hotfix update I would get an alert every once in awhile for one server. Now I get multiple alerts for multiple pollers. The sudden drops are from me deleting .MQ files in the the MSMQ folder…

Noobs, correct when discovering you don't have to enter the VLAN- context. When we first migrated over to SNMPv3 we were having issues with topology mapping and Cisco support said to enter the "v3 auth context vlan- match prefix & v3 priv context vlan- match prefix" commands. They said that "vlan-" was a wild card used for…

Thank you, that's the information I was looking for.

Alright, we're on pins & needles here. We'll install the fix as quickly as we can get it passed though our change management process.

Actually this report does that, but it's hard to tell with the names and IP's blocked out. Here's another screen shot of the report with only part of the name and IP blocked out. This report uses the event logs so all that info should be in the event logs.

It's worth noting that Orion 2019.2 HF 1 was just released along with NPM 12.5 HF 1, WPM 3.0 HF1, VMAN 8.5 HF1, SCM 1.2 HF1 & VNQM 4.6 HF1. Success Center <Orion Hotfix release notes> So if you've been waiting for the hotfix releases you can grab them now. I'll most likely install the hotfixes in 2 weeks. I'm not in a…

The only logical solution I can think of is writing a PowerShell script that looks at the Windows Event Log and has enough AI to recognize if the service was stopped manually or not. Then somehow leveraging this knowledge to mute and/or prevent the alert notification from being sent out. If this is the case, then I would…

Jeff, I'm sure someone could answer your question better that I can at this point, but based on what you've supplied I would say the ALERT is coming from one of the SwisEntity variables. If you want to validate that simply look where the word ALERT is in the subject line and that would be the SwisEntify variable that's…

Yes I agree. When I call in now days, there are long pauses when the call taker has to go talk to someone from tier 2 or something. I recently had a call and I was told to call support, because that's what we pay for. We weren't that long into the call, outside of him putting me on hold to go talk to someone when the call…

Don't get me wrong. I want the cert and everything that comes along with it. As the administrator of Solarwinds I want to know the product better and I want the best support that we're already paying for. In the big picture the price for having the SCP is too much. Look at it this way. We have 5 people in our team who are…

https://thwack.solarwinds.com/people/martian%20monster wrote: My Lingering issues 1. When report writing I still can't search for items when creating the report. 2. Solarwinds is not clearing out JET.TMP files off the server. 3. Orion still occasionally gives me the 'server timed out error' when going between nodes in…

Ray, In short yes you can, and that's exactly what we did. There was a department in our organization that had a fairly small IT department with a small budget. We offered to manage their equipment in Solarwinds as a service to them. This is what I did to achive what your taking about. * Created dynamic group that looked…

Awesome! Just out of curiosity, what was it??

I was actually looking for an edited example of your SNMPv3 settings. None-the-less, I found a couple of roadblocks with our Cisco equipment when we migrated over to SNMPv3. A key item that I found is the command line "snmp-server trap-source" command line. I found that traps would come from different interfaces, or IP…

aLTeRego - That would be the handy work of too many chef's in the kitchen.. We have users with elevated rights who don't understand when they edit a chart table that it effects everyone who shares their view. Unfortunately I can't track down the people who do this because Solarwinds doesn't log who made edit resource…

So we fix one issue, which exposes another issue... Please help me understand this; * SolarWinds.ServiceHost.Process is has a memory leak. * Install buddy fix ServiceHost_2.0.0.566.apkg on all of the polling engines. * Some 700+ agents out of our 1933 automatically get updated. * Said buddy fix still has issues, advised to…

Cpeheotel, Yes hotfix 6 didn't do much to resolve our issue either. Our case #00155294 is still open and every couple of days we get the usual, "....update from DEV and they are requesting another dump files for the specific service...". I wouldn't be surprised if we've sent them a dozen dump files by now.

In the "Select Method" drop down select Advanced Database Query (SLQ,SWQL) instead of Dynamic Query Builder. USE THIS NOT THIS

Jeremy, Sadly I would have to agree with you, every time a new software version comes out I'm excited to see what's new and I can't wait to try it out..... But then reality sets in, an I'm filled with dread to see what new bugs come with it and I hate doing all the tests to validate if everything is still working. I don't…
-
aLTeReGo is aware if, but if you haven't done so already open a support ticket so that they can track this issue.
-
That is correct. You would make these changes under interface properties. In regards to you "what if" scenario, that comes down to standards, definitions, rules and regulations. At the end of the day their should be polices written and enforced on "critical" connections along with what should and shouldn't be alarmed on.…
