I think this one will win the golden award. Quick background, I work in a large city in the PNW and we (the city) rents out community centers to the public. This was a time where the city did not have or apparently think of having a public guest network. All wired & wireless network connections were on the city's network.…

It's available and I spent all last week playing with it. Download the Shared Application Monitor Template called "Certificate CRL Expiry Check", written by Josh Write. It's a Powershell script that you can point to a single digital certificate and alert when that cert is reaches a certain point. Below is the actual alert…

Yes, I did. Case # 1236074 - CLI credential is getting locked out. Here's the steps Tech Support supplied. I wouldn't mind it if this could be done via a simple SQL or SWQL command. However, as a enterprise level software I would expect this to have been part of the software package and I would expect this to be more…

Good choice for haiku Fibonacci Sequencing Would be much harder ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Good Choice For Haikau In Fibonacci Sequencing would be much harder I think posting SWQL code this way would take forever!

Same goes with agent and WMI. On some systems the agent provides somethings and WMI/SNMP provides another. I would like to see a hybrid agent/WMI or agent/SNMP for Windows kind of like what's currently supported by Linux. To that point it would be nice to add different polling cycles for both as well. Since WMI has some…

NPM rights need to be completely overhauled!!! I would love to see something in Settings> Accounts> Network Performance Manager that's just as granular as Server & Application Monitor Settings and/or Network Configuration Manager Settings, heck event User Device Tracker Settings is more granular than Network Performance…

I've seen both of those too. Have you seen a bridge blown up due to a narco uprising in Laten America. Which was the cause listed as a data center in Venezuela. ETA for the repair was simply.... 'when the fighting stops and they rebuild the bridge''. That was during my tenure at a big software company in Redmond Wa....…

I've been trying a new approach, when there's an issue I call it a "Infrastructure Problem". I've been trying to train our helpdesk and our new NOC to call it that rather than a "Network Problem". I've had some success, but unfortunately management, vendors, engineering and operations still say there's a network problem.…

I was working manufacturing and hating life. A friend of the family said that if I can get my MCSE for Window NT that he could get me a job at Paul Allen’s company Vulcan Inc. As I was about to complete the MCSE course the friend and his wife went through a nasty divorce. He ended up leaving Vulcan and moved to a different…

Yes! I think I added similar idea awhile go. This is becoming a big issue and it causes all sorts of trouble with Availability reports, false-positive alarms when forgetting to put a child node into unmanaged mode and worse yet no alarms when a node is missed when placing back into management. I would go one step further…

NICE!!!! I think a simple button or drop-down option that says "Select Best" would be awesome! We have one polling engine that's PCI specific, so I wouldn't want this option for to global option. But I like it and it would work for 90% of our installations. For the holy-grail, this could be a agent option and/or sonar…

Bump. Question, if the credentials library can't or won't be consolidated anytime soon, then how about a consolidation on the number of times this request has been made? 74 votes is a pretty good, but combine that with all the previous votes or times it has been brought up. * https://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/6676 *…

I'm assuming when you say LM your referring to Log Analyzer, correct? I know it works with SAM 6.8 & NPM 12.4, since we're currently doing that for all 8 APE's and the PPE. I assumed it would work with the latest releases, but now you've got me worried.
-
I completely agree. I would, however go one step further and say any change made int he "settings" page should be audit-able. It's crazy that settings page is pretty much all or nothing. We want to give users access to certain admin settings, but we can't because once they have access they can make any change they want to…

How funny. Apr 12th was a bad day for me too. I couldn't find the correct answer so I ended up guessing.

I agree, this is a major issue for us too. It would also be nice to add in a feature that allows to you change an outage to scheduled maintenance after the fact. Using the example above, if someone for got to put that down node into unmanaged mode it would be nice if they can alter the historical data so that when SLA…

I always go for a good IT memes

Yes this needs to be an feature. I believe there are other feature requests similar to this one. To that point someone posted the following on Thwack, so I'm passing it on to you. I run 2 x's a week and it supplies a list of all muted node, unmanaged nodes and unmanaged interfaces. If you do this, it's one report with 3…

Nothing. In the past we use to monitor the bandwidth but it turns out we had more than enough to handle traffic. Since then we've increased the bandwidth of our internet connections, so we're not too worried.
-
I agree bump it up for E911!. It's true this request doesn't affect most people, but it's a massive issue when it comes to E911. Solarwinds staff note, this is a marketing gold! I can't think of many monitoring solutions out there what are a lined with E911.

I wish I saw this sooner. I made the same feature request back in July. https://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/10114 Here's what I requested in my feature request. * From NTA you can drill in to get UDT information. * From NPM you can drill in to get NTA and UDT information. * From UDT you can get some NPM interface…

With money being tight, I need to provide justification to travel to SW World Tour in San Francisco. Can anyone who went to the Houston event or is the know for San Francisco provide some possibles of going? More to the point I need to explain how the World Tour can show or help us find existing service gaps and offer new…

Bump, but with a caveat, you can current build something like Manage Nodes for non-admins with modern dashboards. Plus you build can run circles around the default Manage Nodes or Manage Entities, cause your building it for your environment. That's what did and people love it, but I built it out of the need for the very…

Agree and bump! Here could be 2 ways to achieve this. Option 1 would be implement a Custom Property Library that a user can select when adding a device or when doing a network discovery. This could be implemented like the custom poller section when adding a device. Simply select the library you want to implement and those…

For SolarWinds engineers, gkjono and anyone who's interested here's the SWQL command to build yourself a modern dashboard that replicates the manage nodes for non-admins. Something that this SWQL command does that nothing in SW does is it shows the Cisco stack numbers, which stack member is the leader or the follower and…

This process seriously needs to be simplified. Not everyone is a SQL master or a master coder. I'm a simple "network guy" to simply managed the data network. I would love to have a simple option to create an event off of a trap or a trap OID. I shouldn't have to need to know coding to be able to do this simple process.
