bump!

Been watching this thread (you knew that right?) The reason that the Basic alert is firing every 15 minutes is because that is the polling interval for volume statistics. The advanced alert can use the alert evaluation frequency on the General tab to control how often the database is queried for this type of trigger. You…

Vendor is not at the top of the list of available grouping properties.

So, in summary, it looks like it should work to install the latest versions of NPM, SAM, NTA and IPAM on the new server. Then, initially install NCM v7.2.2, then upgrade it to v7.3.2. Sound feasible?
-
By the way adatole, great job on the Leveraging Custom Pollers video!

Open the Custom Property Editor and look at the Node Properties display. Any property that you have selected for display there will also be visible when you go to Admin-->Manage Nodes--> and then select one or more nodes and click on Edit Properties.
-
So, one could then set the Record value to 0 using a R/W change in the database and thereby "turn off" notification of the "interface changed" event type, right?
-
Thanks, Mark. I set the views for the affected user account to "none" for all modules. All modules were removed from the menu bar except the wireless.

My pleasure. Feel fre to mark my answer as Correct or Helpful if it was. Thank you.

You are correct. I am still looking into that, but at this point I see two possible ways to access data only for VMS. You will need to construct a custom SQL report do that data can be queried from both the Nodes table and the appropriate VM table, or you could use a custom node property to designate the VMs. How many VMs…

Sorry, I meant to say "enabled" rather than disabled!

Yep. Choose "Orion Network Configuration Manager".
-
That did it friend. Thanks.

Yeah, one can see by the log entries that this is a record of the DB maintenance procedures. However, I noticed that the date for my log was May 16, 2008! I opened SYstem Manager and ran the maintenance procedure manually and sure enough, the date on the file updated to Jul22. So, why hadn't the procedure been running on…

The Field Name should probably use "contains" rather than "is equal to", and the time should be expressed in seconds (120) instead of minutes.
-
One cannot configure an alert for the addition of a new node in Orion. The best you can do is alert on a change in status for a network element that is already in your Orion database. For example, if you are monitoring interfaces for up, down and administrative status, you can make an alert that will notify you when…

Having the same issue when upgrading to NCM 2020.2. The regedit did not fix the issue. Any ideas? Thanks.

Just a thought, but is it possible that the radios respond to SNMP traps, but not to SNMP for polling purposes? I have worked with other radio vendors in the past that could only send traps.
-
You also need to consider the impact that changing your polling and stats collection intervals will have on your Solarwinds polling server and the growth rate of your database. As you increase the rate at which your polling engine must collect data, the workload on the CPU and memory will necessarily increase. Keep an eye…

I also have an installation of 9.1 SP5 that is behaving similarly. Can't seem to get emails to be sent in alerts. Would this hotfix apply for 9.1 as well or is it only applicanle to 9.5?

Flexibility, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder I suppose. I meant that one can display differnet data about nodes or interfaces by choosing it from the drop down at the top of the page. I also typically like summary level views because they let me know at a glance whether anything needs my attention. In any event,…

Sorry, I meant ${IP_Address}. Case is important.

I agree with Jeff, but you might get around that aspect of custom properties if you use a Yes/No type when possible. That way, every node will have either the True or the False value. Of course, this type of property will not be appropriate every time.
-
Yes, I configured an email delivery that gives the response time and identifies the offending node along with the event time (I hope). It is enabled on the network, and as of is not sending false positives. I lowered the trigger to 150 ms. I just got several alerts that appear to be working correctly, but the event time…

Since this explanation is significantly different from what I had always understood, I decided to test this in my lab. I used a "database" with only a single node. I disconnected the network cable and allowed the default polling interval and node warning interval to do their thing (both 120 seconds). I saw that it takes a…

Here is a screenshot of the error I get:

I second Elizabeth's request. This would be a nice thing to have Matt.

Yes, and I then tested the OID against a server I rebooted manually. The funny thing is, the number does not make sense unless you calculate a "time tick" as 1/1000 of a second, rather than 1/100. In other words, if I test the OID every 5 seconds and look at the output, it is definitely coming back in thousandths of a…

Another option would be to manually "unmanage" the node in NPM.

If you are missing custom properties in the Advanced Alert Manager, or you see only the word "custom" instead of listing the properties, you might try disabling the UAC in addition to updating the report schema in the CPE. See if that works.
