Anyone? Please don't tell me I am going to have to use NCM to get a Windows software inventory.

Have you already tried setting the map to remove the limited nodes? If not, open the map in Network Atlas, then right click on the map and select Map Properties. Select the option to "Remove objects that users do not have permission to view". This will allow you to assign the same map to each user, but any account…

The Advanced Alert Manager has a pre-defined alert to do this. It is set to trigger at 2%, but you can just change that value to 75. It is called "High Transmit percent Utilization". You can also construct a basic alert if that is your preference.

The Application Performance Monitor module for Orion NPM will do those things nicely. Do you have it installed?
-
If you have NPM version 10.7 you can use the web-based report tool - Manage Reports, to do this. You would simply add three separate content sections to the report - one for each data type that you want. In fact, you can even use any reports you find in Report Writer as a template for the web version of the report you are…

Yes. If you use the SQL variable ${Caption} into the label in place of the automatic label, the map label will then reflect whatever is shown on the Node-- Edit Properties page. Then, if you change the node name there, the map label will change too.

I have not tested this theory (I will), but I would think you might do this using a custom property for the nodes and the interfaces you want to allow visibility for. What i am not sure of is whether you can block access to the node that owns the interface that you want to allow access to. Once the interface and node…

If you are running Orion 8.5.1 SP3, then you have a new "All Nodes" option that uses the AJAX resource. If you use this resource to display the nodes on your weeb view, then it allows you to selct up to three custom properties to group the nodes.
-
I don't think there is a resource called Components with Problems at the point, but you could accomplish this using Groups. Create a Group with all of your SQL servers in it. That way the Group Root Cause resource on the Group Summary and Details pages would then show which specific component in each group is having the…

The custom property is ideal for this. You would have to create a custom property to match each column in the source file that you want to import. Then, you import the spreadsheet to the custom property editor on the Orion website. Match the IP address of each node and choose a field in the source file and the matching…

You should not need to get fancy with the interface down alert since the interfaces on a down node should automatically be placed into an "unreachable" status. What I suspect is that your down interface alert trigger is set to fire immediately. That could cause an interface to be polled as down before the parent node is…

You can do this by adding a limitation to their user account that matches the nodes that you want them to manage. That way, when you give their account Manage Nodes rights, it will be limited to those nodes.

Leon Adato?

Scott, Use the Monitor Polling Engines tool in the SolarWinds Orion Advanced Features program menu to move the nodes to the new poller. Select the nodes that you want to move then select the Move selected Nodes to option under the Polling Engines menu in the tool. That will re-assign the nodes to the new polling engine.

Some UnDPs are displayed best as a particular type of web resource. Of course, if the poller is a table based one, you need to display it as a Table. You can right click on the poller in the UnDP app and choose Web Display to select this. Typically, there is one resource that I like the best for the web site because it…

Pardon the interjection, but as long as you are using the nightly reboot task, you may also need to schedule a pause of all alert actions immediately before the SolarWinds reboot action. This will prevent a nightly flood of alerts after the server reboots. You could then have another event to re-enable alert actions after…

Anyone? Thanks.

You can tell NCM to ignore that line when it compares configuration files. Open the NCM server console. Go to File--> Settings, then click on Configs-->Comparison Criteria. Scroll down in the list and you should find an option named "Cisco '!Last Updated' line (Part 2) with a pattern that includes NVRAM in it. Check the…

The reason is that SQL is so demanding of resources to support the high I/O to the database. There are many, many threads in Thwack discussing the ins and outs of this, but in short, if you have more than about 2000 elements (nodes, interfaces and volumes) monitored by Orion, then you will get much better performance out…

First, create each Metro map. Then drag each Metro map onto your State map and save it.

One more bump. Anyone?
-
bump please.

You can also run the SolarWindsVersionChecker located in the Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion folder.

You could create a new custom view for that group, then link to it as a custom menu bar item and assign that item to any user you want. Otherwise, you are correct that clicking on the Group will take you to the generic Group Details page.
-
This is a job for a custom property. Create a custom property using the Custom Property Editor in Orion that identifies whether a server belongs to you or to the other administrator. Then, in the alert add another condition that notifies you if the custom property is linked to you. For example, the property might be named…

Go into the edit screen for the user account in question. In the section where menu bars are chosen for each tab, set the menu bar to "None" for any tab that you want to remove from this user's view. Click Submit to save the changes. This must be done on a per user basis. Hope this helps.

If you are using version 9, then there are two things you need to do with their user account to make this happen: (1) Allow the account node management rights (2) Place any of the Node Tree resources on their home page and they will be able to access the "Manage Nodes" page. From there they will be able to edit custom…

I would like to see this added.

You should be able to limit the report by Machine Type = Windows 2008 R2.
