  • Good to hear. Have you had a chance to dig into Query Performance Analysis or Table Tuning Advisor? It could take a day or two for the data to fully populate for Table Tuning. If you solve some new problems, let us know here - screenshots appreciated!
  • Hi We require root privilege to run the commands and services used by Profiler. Brian
  • I believe your account is set up as a group admin. To add users, you must be a full administrator. Log in as an admin and add the users, or make your login a full admin (you'll see a green check next to your name in the list). Once you are a full admin, the button appears. Brian
  • What would you want to do with the API that is not covered in this Feature Request ?

  • Are you monitoring your entire VMware environment from the Storage Manager server? If so, how many total VM are you monitoring? Typically, we recommend about 200 VM to be monitored per agent, so if you have exceeded that, you could be seeing the issues you are reporting. Brian
  • How many arrays (and types) and how many VM are you monitoring? Are they geographically separated? Brian
  • Hi Profiler talks to the celerra vis Telnet/SSH, no SNMP involved. If you do the TCP dump, Profiler will mount the share and parse the output from the command that was written to disk. Brian
  • Hi, I don't know of anyone doing this today.
  • Byron, The VMware monitoring in NPM mainly focuses on the ESX server and VM, but not so much on the infrastructure itself. So both Orion NPM and Profiler will give you asset and performance data on those, but Profiler will also show you Clusters, Data Centers, and Virtual Center views and the relationship between all of…
  • The basics are covered here - is this for Linux, Windows or ???
  • The File Type and File Group reports are summary reports only, there is no associated detail. The rules you create define which files we collect detailed data. To make a report like you want, run the either the "File Rules Detail (Remote shares)" or the "File Rules Detail (Local Share)" and filter on the Root Dir and file…
  • Yes, DPA supports MySQL 5.6 and later since version 10.0. If you have available licenses, you should be able to monitor a MySQL database.
  • Jeremy, Try the instructions here: https://support.solarwinds.com/Success_Center/Database_Performance_Analyzer_(DPA)/DPAIM_Admin_Guide/020_Integrate_DPA_with_Orion_Platform_products/040_Manage_database_instance_relationships If that doesn't work, contact support: Submit a Ticket | SolarWinds Customer Portal Thanks Brian
  • Hi, STM does not gather the disk quotas on home directories, and you cannot extend it to do so. However, you can use file analysis on each home directory for sizing and then use the reporting engine to look for users over a certain size. Brian
  • Is this for NCM (Network Configuration Manager) or SCM (Server Configuration Monitor)? Are you trying to download a network config from a switch, router or firewall, or a configuration of a server or application?
  • Do you have the latest version of the EMC SMI-S Provider? I believe it is 4.3.2.1. Brian
  • Scott We have a script that will quiese the application, clean up the tables and then make a backup copy of the database. Contact support for more infromation. Brian
  • Beta has started, sign up now if you want to participate!!!
  • Check out this blog post on how to add Virtualization Manager content to NPM, SAM or other Orion based products -
  • Karim, The Sun 7000 is very interesting to us, but currently there is no timetable to support it. If you have more questions, let me know and I will contact you. Brian
  • Profiler does not support zPools at this time. We are interested in supporting it in the future, but it has not made it to the roadmap yet.
  • Check out Virtualization Manager 5.1 - it has a new VDI-friendly pricing structure, contact your service rep for more information.
  • Shane Storage Manager leverages the NetApp API, which has read_ops, write_ops, total_ops and other_ops. We currently only collect read, write and total, not other. Let me know if you would like to collect this additional metric and I can add it as a feature request. Brian
  • Make sure you selected an email address for the schedule. Please look in the webserver.log (install/webapps/ROOT/logs) for errors. The error will start with something like this: 17 Nov 2010 06:34:50 ERROR [http-80-Processor24] [EmailReportMetaData.sendMail] - .......
  • Please take a look at the new blog post: Customizing Recommendation Alerts in Virtualization Manager I cover some similar cases to what you are trying to do, but if you have additional questions, let me know and I can help. Brian
  • We are looking into to both recommendations (over and under allocation), will keep you posted. Brian
  • Hi We do not pull quotas for users, so there are no alarms for them. If you are doing file analysis, you can set it up to do each user share, so you will know the size of the share, as well as the type and age of the files within it. You can then build a report that says "Show me all the shares over XXX MB" and schedule it…
  • Some issues that might affect the agents: * Have you assigned work out to the agents, such as monitoring VMware or Arrays or File Analysis? If you have assigned a lot of work to agent on a small server, you might see this. * Do you have anti-virus doing on access scans on the agent directories? If you continue to have the…
  • Hi, You should see the DB shrink in about 24 hours or so. You can get further reductions by changing "Days to Retain Raw Performance Data" to a smaller number (default is 14 days). You could also do a manual vacuum on the DB as well (link to Postgres instructions below). Note if you decide to do a FULL vacuum, then you…
  • I am looking into this, stay tuned.
