I love the MS paint copy button!!! I think I might make some myself and use them in SWQL resources- no help here but will lend a look here dummy feel to it.

Jonathan, Are you populating your racks by groups with dynamic queries based on location data?
-
I hope the HTML documentation is not going away - it's so much easier to navigate then PDF.
-
I do this today by using our Sharepoint site both as an external site tab for a wiki knowledge base (how to add nodes, etc) and also as a custom link with variables from a node page. Link is something like http://sharepointsite.com/Systems/${System}/ But since Orion uses standard IIS server I would be surprised if you…

IPAM 4.3 Tool - Importing large number of subnets.
-
hmmm "/^[b][a][c][o][n]/i"
-
And don't forget lots of audit tools. Currently adding a custom property in IPAM which gets auto populated with nodeID or na to indicate it's not meant to be monitored. Everything else gets reported.
-
Well if you're going to give us a manual FastPoll for a set of monitors to help troubleshoot... then how about the ability to mute specific pollers for a period of time while working on an issue while still polling. Same as disable alert actions but per poller per node(or group) so we don't get blasted with alerts and can…

We are making great use of Solarwinds IPAM locally vs spreadsheet and Infoblox at the corporate-wide level for subnet allocation and DNS services. But the real solution is to remove the problem of having to ask for an IP address. With openstack for example a guest is often set to deploy with an internal dhcp address based…

Oh yeah big time. I had nodes off in Siberia, the deserts of Africa and Antarctica. Turns out no one in my org does a good job with snmp location so it's just not going to work for me personally. I turned it off but if you have controlled deployments of your snmp configs and use powershell to set the windows reg key for…

Vote on what you'd like to see next in AppStack

Those and the onboard administrators are just CLI and text config so it should be possible. I plan to move a C7000 and flex10 into the lab sometime in Q2-3 to test with.
-
I see your ITIL chart hung up and yet 7 monitors - I don't remember the ITIL stance on multi-tasking but I would bet you do more change then management ;-)

Vote up the idea of AppInsight for Orion or AppInsight for Solarwinds

Yes, as provided by Alterego here Re: Link on a Custom Query resource (SWQL) ?
-
Been playing with the environment view in some form of other for some time now and am already considering ripping out all the maps we never update But can we get a summary of what view limitations might be honored by the resource? I understand the root level environment resource is everything and node details is just that…

I have a summary version of this on my homepage, shown below. But I think I'll create one for each node/app/volume/interface details pages now based on your suggestion.

So for AppStack to show a device it would seem it need to be virtual or have an Application Monitor (slightly over-simplified) so therefore the basic snmp uptime polling will not suffice alone. The workaround I am using is to assign an SNMP SAM monitor to the switches as well - I know I know it's ugly but it works.
-
Funny - Inhouse so I can get firewall rules and an admin account all day. Ask to install an agent and its a conversation stopper. Despite all the same systems having a Splunk forwarder.
-
I have found for servers having a WMI discovery set to AutoImport is beautiful vs snmp. I see under what's coming soon something which I hope will make Discoveries more usable even with SNMP servers. If the monitoring profile is configurable or at minimum selectable via API.

Spinner - you would need a Condition Group with the NOT ALL operand selected - then nested a few simple conditions for your Hardware Sensor Display Name CONTAINS followed by your sensor names you want to filter out. Such as Receive, Transmit, Bias? This becomes apparent when you save off the alert, open it back up and…

I expect you have these location values in some system today, cmdb or such? Export them and import that spreadsheet into Orion to set all the location custom properties.
-
If you nickname the table do you need to add that prefix to your columns? Select cp.city from .... Thanks, Christian
-
Also I would add a new action which is the same script but without the macros - just add in some static values - this way you can see if you have an issue with expansion.
-
have you looked at the \\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Logs\Orion\ActionsExecutionAlert.log ?
-
A bit late but - the way I accomplish this is by having a custom property I fill out for the nodes -Region or Grouping, etc - then that would be your limitation on the page (make a custom limitation based on the custom property)and would also be your report - nodes grouped by custom property. If nodes need to exist in more…

Today's cheats are tomorrow's features. So you feel my pain on vs generic icon path then?
-
For all of my nexus devices it does indeed.
-
I've found the same here - large percentage of alarms were from gbics in place without fibre running to them. Now I'm down to just a few which all seem to be valid alerts. Next I need to deal with the Cisco switch with all 0's for threshold values and reporting all gbics as critical

Why not a single property for location which would be a drop down pick list with the 500 choices?
