Great stuff here. Will have to save that misery map for future travels.

It appears the answer is yes, at least for Nimble. What we are working on for SRM after v6.2 -- Updated on October 1, 2015

Hadn't heard of Price's law before, but sure sounds familiar. Interesting that it seems to apply well outside of publishing.

Mmm, Bacon Day. Wait, isn't that supposed to be every day? Everything is better with bacon, so every day must therefore be better with bacon. No thanks for powershell on Mac or Linux.

Wow, this fits surprisingly well! May have to go back and watch this again, keeping this list in mind as I watch.

And then there are those special users for whom the rules don't apply. They exist in the private sector as well as the public. When any users are allowed to (sometimes in flagrant fashion) simply bypass the policies, procedures, technologies, etc. put in place to protect, what then? How do we as IT professionals deal with…

Still feel like lactokinesis was the best of the bunch.

Looks like a great conference. Thanks for sharing. What in the world is up with the socks becoming popular SWAG now?

Thankfully there's no smell of frying bacon to go along with the appearance gained when one spends too much time in the sun. That particular odor might attract wildlife from land and sea alike, and that would almost certainly ruin a vacation.

Interesting ideas with the passivhaus. Wonder if they're as efficient to cool for the warmer climes?

Good first part. Look forward to reading the next parts.

Great article on passwords. Should be required reading for security teams and admins/operators alike.

From what I can tell, the node that cleared plus the node that is currently in warning yields the correct answer. I gambled on the twain and was rewarded with a green check. That said, this question is thoroughly wrong based on the observable data.

Is anything surprising about Facebook or similar stepping over the line any more?

Hmm..points still never showed up from yesterday's question, but did for today's question. DanielleH or wabbott could you assist?

It was more the way the incorrect text was written that caused my consternation. I cannot see the text any longer, but on initial read it appeared to be worded such that backup management wasn't a valid answer. I may have misread before coffee, and consequently engaged in grumbling, but it may also have been somewhat less…

This is a worthy idea, particularly for segmented environments that need tightly controlled ingress/egress.

As an Apple user for a great many years, I hate the war on ports. I already carry way too many adapters for serial cables, network adapters, video adapters, etc., etc., etc. ad nauseum. I'm afraid Apple has really stuck its nose into something ugly this time around. The flagship laptop cannot connect to the flagship mobile…

Bacon has my vote.

Does anyone else see Boston Dynamics morphing rapidly into terminators?

"...a commitment to network monitoring" may just be the understatement of the decade. It's amazing how much institutional lethargy must be overcome to get that commitment. Everyone says they want good monitoring, but many seem unwilling for whatever reason to make that commitment.

It used to be "a penny for your thoughts." Then it was contributing my two cents. With inflation, now it seems that even a nickel for those thoughts is a losing proposition. Here's a quarter, call someone who cares. How far must inflation carry this?

Good article. I think it helps to promote understanding of just what "private cloud" means. Pardon the (only partially intentional) pun, but the term cloud is often somewhat nebulous. In general, the better we define things, the less scary they seem to be. Loosely defined cloud infrastructure, be it public, private, or…

Pretty scary that something as simple as that phish was enough to get the campaign. Even though the victim had the sense to ask for help with the message, the folks who should have known better said it was legit. Bad practices by the user then compounded the breach and opened further avenues for exploitation. Is this whole…

Interesting. Does that Agent play well with Domain Controllers? Read-only as well as regular DCs?

You should be able to enable snmp on the stack. I'm not familiar with ironware, but I'm sure you can find it online. It will likely be something similar to snmp-server community <NAME> ro. Then just let NPM discover it using that SNMP community name.

I get what you're saying. You might create another rule with an advanced match that looks string 1 as "ntp server 10.1.1.1" with an AND condition of also matching ntp server *. This page might be of some assistance.…

Disappointing that this was never answered. Got an agent failing with the same message.

Is it just me, or does the process of polling with a non-admin user seem onerous? I'm curious as to how many folks, real world, just use an account with admin privilege. It seems the most direct path. I understand the security implications, but in large environments the risk/reward consideration for having to make the…

Ultimately, there are several hundred I'd like to have on there. I've tested with four or five so far, and can't get anything to automatically show on the map.
