Another user mentioned RDP monitoring, which is a great idea, too. Can you elaborate further on what you'd expect to see around RDP monitoring? That's a pretty good question. Maybe there is some type of login that it can to which will ensure that RDP is responding. Currently, we only monitor the availability of the TCP…

Wow, this is pretty awesome. I have been pondering how I can create an advanced alert suppression based on relative timeframes and I think this is the way to do it.

I looked back at my original ticket and the issues with disappearing/reappearing interfaces started when I upgraded to 9.0 SP1. I was given some special DLLs by support, which stopped the problem. I believe that SP2 contained the fix for this problem for good. I have not seen the issue since and we are on 9.1 SP2 at the…

As is typical with a new release, there have been a few bumps. In the next day or two, we will be releasing a hotfix that addresses the majority of these issues. . Excellent! It really surprised me that Passthrough authentication and special characters in passwords got past all the beta testing. Just goes to show you that…

* Suggested resolution (goofyzig, bleearg13 please read): * Upgrade to 5.5.1. We've added retry logic in 5.5 so that if it fails login, we'll retry up to 3 times before giving up. We've been able to close out all cases related to this issue * Thank the Kiwi CatTools team for their experiences with this one. It appears…

Strange. My 'All Nodes - Table' offers the ability to sort by any property in the database.

I had the same issue and I ended up modifying the 'C:\Inetpub\SolarWinds\Orion\IPAM\Subnets.aspx' file with the following values: <Columns> <IPAMlayout:TreeColumn width="250" title="Display Name" DataIndex="text" runat="server" /> <IPAMlayout:TreeColumn width="200" title="Description" DataIndex="Comments" runat="server" />…

I would suggest trying to use the Solarwinds Database Manager to do a "Compact" operation on the DB. However, I am not a DB expert, so this may not be the fastest way to resolve your issue.

Sorry for the late response on this. I have tried using both the enumerated text value and the Raw Value and neither works.
-
I figured it out, actually. I had thought Orion was collecting data for these interfaces, but it was not. The bandwidth graph had not regenerated in some time, but once it did, I noticed that I had a huge gap of no data. Thanks for the response.
-
I would like to point out that my primary complaint is with the initial response, which is often when time has been made on my end to actually take the time to open the case and work on it. I rarely have issues once the case has been assigned and someone is working on it. The technical abilities of the support techs are…

Could you provide SysObjectIDs for the specific devices? Durr...sorry! Juniper Netscreen 5GT / 1.3.6.1.4.1.3224.1.14 / Netscreen Technologies, Inc. Telco Systems T5C-24T / 1.3.6.1.4.1.738.1.5.100.1.1.7 / B.A.T.M. Advance Technologies Accedian EtherNID VE100 / 1.3.6.1.4.1.22420.1.1 / accedian, inc.

Sorry to hijack... I am attempting to use this template and it seems I have to configure a template for each specific server that I want to monitor. Is that correct? If I use 'localhost' as the computer name, it tests the Orion server, which is somewhat pointless. EDIT: Nevermind - I found the ${IP} variable. RTFM.

A tag is a like an extra property that you can add to your monitors. If you select the checkbox next to the monitor from within the Devices view, then go to Edit/Tags, you can configure a tag with whatever name you'd like. I'd call it something like 'comments'. Then, within your alert configuration, you can enter the…

My thoughts, not that anyone asked: 1. IPv6 has "no demand" - this is what vendors have been saying for years and it's the reason we are currently in this mess now. CPE vendors are about the worst at it, but on the backend, software vendors are the worst. Nobody "wants it", so therefore, we're not going to bother adding it…

Thanks, Mark. Unfortunately, I don't have any duplicate nodes. I did, previously, but I ran the query above to find the duplicate nodes and used Solution 1. I am beginning to think that it doesn't like the fact that I have two Account Limitations with the word 'Customer' in them. I come to this conclusion based on the fact…

Very strange. I would suggest, if this is happening rather frequently, that you monitor your SNMP traffic on your Orion server to just that ISG with an analyzer like Wireshark. This will tell you whether the problem is being seen with the SNMP reply sent by the ISG or it is something with Orion. My guess is that the ISG…

Sorry, I misunderstood. I'm not aware of separate settings for refresh of reports. Maybe the report cache will do it. Good luck.
-
Cool, thanks for the explanation. I wasn't suggesting you switch, I just didn't know if there was some advantage - and it looks like there is!
-
Ah, I see - I misunderstood. I'm not sure how you could show the average between the two ports without maybe doing a UnDP of the data and then a transform. Then again, I may be overcomplicating things - I do tend to do that.
-
I just tried this in hopes I could help someone else out and realized that while I do have the Edit button for "Last XX Events", there is no option to filter the events. All I see is the option to show how many events and the timeframe.
-
One thing I should mention is the difference between Juniper and Cisco interfaces. In Cisco, there is, for the most part, only one "interface" to monitor. For instance, if you have an interface called 'Gi0/0/0', all you need to do to monitor everything for that interface is to add it to Orion and sit back and watch. With…
-
Hmm...I doubt it's the same problem, then. I assume the devices are all reachable during the time the interfaces become "unknown"? Does SNMP respond during this time?
-
I also receive this message quite often on non-Cisco SSH devices in my results emails: ERROR: Cannot download Running config : Possible connectivity issues are stopping Cirrus from receiving a properly formatted device configuration file. I know the problem is not network-related, or I would see it with my other…

Couldn't this be done using Custom SQL?
-
Perhaps not the same issue, but you mentioned that the config of this device has tags in it to denote different parts of the config. If these tags are in the format of: <interfaces> it's quite possible that this is the problem. I have this issue with Adtran 600 series IADs. Every line in the entire config, for some…

Sure thing. * On the web console, go to Admin/Manage Views. * Click Add to create a new view, name it something, and select Summary then Submit. * Select the number of columns you'd like, as well as their width. * Click the plus sign (+) to add a resource to the first column. * Expand the Miscellaneous resources and select…

When I've done some more testing, I'll share it on the Content Exchange Zone. Please do, because I've been asking for this from SW for a long time and always been met with "you can do it using Custom HTML", but that answer doesn't fly when you have 75 interfaces on a router.
-
Can't really say for sure, but it's possible. What resources do you have on your view for this node? Are there multiple resources which must show a long list of these interfaces? You can also try following the steps in this thread: Good luck!
