  • Also, and maybe this should go in the feature request thread, there should be a maintenance dashboard or simply just a dialog box that will allow you to select multiple devices at once. They're getting closer, but they're still not there!
  • Two features that would be extremely helpful: 1. Built-in Report Scheduler. In this day and age, it doesn't make sense that one of the most useful features for Orion is an unsupported application. 2. For some reason in Outlook (not Outlook Express, or any other email application, for that matter), the 'http://hostname/'…

  • Juniper Netscreen Firewalls Telco Systems Switches Accedian EtherNIDs It'd be cool to be able to choose an icon for "unknown" devices, such as BSD or Linux machines. Penguins and demon babies are always fun to see on a webpage.
  • 1. - please! This would make Cirrus sooo much more useful, in my opinion. If a software developer donating his own time can do this, there's no reason a team of very talented developers backed by a multi-national corporation like Solarwinds can't get it done! 2. - In response to Haley's comments: I know that aaa enables…
  • I have noticed that if your default summary page has a lot of devices it needs to get information on, such as a network map or a list of nodes, this greatly increases the number of seconds it takes to log in. By reducing the amount of devices that your summary page is getting info on will reduce your login time greatly.
  • Orion used to have what was called "Raw" and "Cooked" options for displaying data, but I think that has gone by the wayside, or is only for Basic Alerts. If I'm not mistaken, I think you could do this by running a SQL query as the macro, instead of using ${VolumePercentUsed}. Unfortunately, I'm no SQL guru, so I couldn't…
  • You *may* be able to do this with the interface binding orders. If you are using Win2K or XP, go to the Network Connections Control Panel and click on the 'Advanced Settings' menu option. If you've added your Windows TCP Loopack adapter, go ahead and move that adapter to the top of the list. Again, this may work, and it…
  • The actual question was answered by Solarwinds tech support who told me that custom table pollers are not available in Perfstack, which none of the public-facing documentation states. Only individual OID pollers are available. Regardless, I can't it to work because of some bug that is supposed to be fixed by the next…
  • I am having this same error. Additional InformationSystem.ArgumentException: An item with the same key has already been added. at System.ThrowHelper.ThrowArgumentException(ExceptionResource resource) at System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary`2.Insert(TKey key, TValue value, Boolean add) at…
  • Now that V9 is out I wanted to start a thread on how upgrades from 8.5.X to 9 have been going? I'm especially interested in people running multiple pollers. I'm going to wait a could weeks before I upgrade so the bleeding edge folks can work out any issues. ;-) First off, it's definitely a wise choice to wait a bit before…
  • Has anyone modified this to work with Interface Custom Properties? If so, could someone post the code? I find I need to modify these much more than Node Custom Properties. thanks, evt
  • I don't know much about the 15454, but if you can query a specific SNMP OID for the CPU and memory values, you can create a custom poller to collect that data. This is somewhat different than a Universal Device Poller (UnDP) in that NPM can look at it and use it automatically for other devices with the same system OID.…
  • We use EEM to prevent the production use of backup links of our customers. Customers that purchase a primary and backup link from us are not supposed to use the backup link at all unless the primary goes down. Since there's not a very good way to ensure that this doesn't happen, we configure an ACL on the backup port that…
  •  You should easily be able to send an alert when the Volume Status is 'Unknown'.
  • For #1, you can do this from within the web console: Admin --> Orion Settings For #2, the Report Scheduler uses the native Windows Task Manager. You can set the task to disabled from within the Scheduled Tasks Control Panel. However, I'm pretty sure that Report Scheduler allows you to disable a scheduled report by either…
  • So I take it that there's no way to do what I want to do? It seems like all that is required is a quick rewrite of the ConfigurationLimitation.asp page to allow a query of both the Interfaces and Nodes view, unless I'm missing something. The Limitations should be doing a logical OR on the query (Nodes.CustomerID = cust-a…
  • Ok, so after the Account Limitations Builder wouldn't let me add both 'Nodes.CustomerID' and 'Interfaces.CustomerID', I added it manually, which appeared to work and create a new row in the DB. Unfortunately, I still get the error about an ambiguous column name. It looks like the ConfigurationLimitation.asp page is…
  • quote:Originally posted by Don Yonce If you want to limit an Account to a group of Nodes AND a group of Interfaces, add more than one limitation to the Account. uhh, yeah...I guess it's RTFM for me I had no idea you could add more than one limitation to an account. quote: For example, when editing the Account click on "Add…
  • I know the Alert Engine is still in beta, but any word on when the final product will be released? I'm very eagerly awaiting the release of this, since the beta leaves much to be desired in the way of Macros (read: about 1/3 of them work).
  • 2 suggestions: 1. I think it would also help to have a "Are you sure?" to "PEBKAC"-proof the deletion of alerts. I've deleted an important alert at least once in the alert engine that comes with the Orion distributation. I'll say it was because of an overanxious trigger finger :-/ 2. The ability to acknowledge an alert via…
  • quote:Originally posted by Don331 Still need some way to set up a global alert supression easily. A good example is a branch office that has a router, a switch, and a server. Having to set up a rule for every device in a branch gets old real fast. It would be cool to have a table to group the node ID's of nodes into…
  • I posted this yesterday, they've logged it as a bug for fix in the next SP.
  • You should go to the Report Manager in the web UI and select a report, then click on 'Duplicate and Edit'. Within the report, you can edit various things, including the timeframe for the report (choose 'Custom'):
  • Sorry to respond a second time, but your original method of using the Custom Chart appears to do this. There's an option in the resource called "Show the sum of all data series": Is this option not available to you in your graph? Here's an example of what it looks like in mine: The dotted black line is the sum. Also, I…
  • As someone who uses both, here's my point of view. Cirrus has some minor disadvantages, but in my opinion, they are outweighed by its advantages: - Policy reporting - Inventory (ARP tables, interface IPs, Windows user accounts, VLAN info, etc.) - Command scripts (great for updating passwords/snmp strings all at once or…
  • I do this by creating a Multiple Object Chart and adding the interfaces I want to it. You can then also choose to show the sum. The only downside to this is that the graph that is created is not interactive like the default traffic graphs.
  • If you are wondering how to interpret the data so that when an alert goes off, "fan failure" is seen in the alert as opposed to "2", there is no way to do this that I know of. However, all hope is not lost, as you can create a tag that you can attach to the monitor that lists the enumerations, then include that tag in your…
  • Just create a transform and add all your pollers together: {poller1}+{poller2}+{poller3}+etc... Keep in mind that if you're polling for bandwidth, the counters are 'octets', which means they are in bytes, not bits. In order to get bits, you need to divide by 8, so your final transform should look like this:…
