Yes. If a user has permissions to only see devices in Group A, and both Group A and Group B are sending alerts and generating alarms, the users will only see Group A in both views.

Actually, after taking a look at the OID itself, that particular OID is just a System Identification OID. I don't believe that any system can be "walked" or queried using that OID, as it's used merely as an identifier. What information are you looking to get from the 7845H?
-
This typically means that the device you are polling does not support that particular OID.

After upgrading to 8.1, our web interface is messed up. Is there something that needs to be done to get it looking right again?
-
Wouldn't the "Reset Conditions" tab in the Alert Manager work for this? Just set it to "Reset this alert when the trigger conditions are no longer true". Or maybe I am not fully understanding the problem.

Yes, you can use Report Writer to get this information.

Do you happen to have any static route (including the default) on your 6509 configured with a next-hop of a VLAN or ethernet interface? If you have any static routes configured with the next hop of a VLAN interface or an ethernet interface (FastEthernet1/4, GigabitEthernet1/1, etc.), then you should remove it and configure…

I am having this same problem. A reboot did not seem to help. I can no longer see the actual notifications.
-
I am pretty sure that the 3550 performs routing in hardware, thus you will never see packet counter stats on the VLAN interface, whether you run a 'show interface' command or check it with SNMP.
-
Did you get this resolved? I am having a similar issue.
-
Join the club. This is an issue with Cirrus and Solarwinds has been unable to reproduce the issue. There is nothing that we have done that resolves the issue. The problem seems to stem from a combination of SSH and server load. I can confirm that the issue doesn't occur with telnet, as not a single one of our telnet…

There has to be a way to do this. Anyone from SW want to give a yes/no? Please?
-
I hate doing this, but...bump?
-
Easy. Select all your switches, run a 'show version' command script on them, and filter the output with 'serial'. HTH, evt

Just as Ian stated, you cannot monitor traffic on the VLAN interface. The only VLAN that will show up on a 2950 during an snmpwalk is the management VLAN and you cannot even get traffic statistics on that. This is because the switch is a pure layer 2 device. Even on layer 3 switches, such as the 6500, monitoring VLANs will…

Check to make sure that your SNMP strings are entered in all your nodes. I've found that upgrading to new releases sometimes changes things it probably shouldn't.
-
This is due to counter rollover. We had the same problem, in addition to false Interface Last Change alerts. You need to reboot your switches, AFAIK, to get things right again. This is an SNMP issue, not an Orion issue.
-
You cannot configure alerts to trigger based upon threshold settings you configure in the NPM web console. You have to configure your alerts separately to mirror what your threshold settings are set to.
-
I am fairly certain that the only way to do this is to assign a secondary IP to the box and poll your RSA SNMP process using that IP. AFAIK, Orion will not let you add another node that has the same IP as a pre-existing node in your database.

PDF would be excellent. While I despise the bloated PDF format, it's certainly better than HTML in Outlook. If hyperlinks can be embedded, this would also work around the HIGHLY annoying Outlook behavior of modifying the URL in the emails sent from the Report Scheduler.

I agree. I cannot update to the latest NPM because of the loss of the Win32 application. The web GUI is *not* a good replacement for the Win32 application.

So in 8.5, what's the gap between Basic Alerts and Advanced Alerts? Modifiers such as "-Raw", "-Cooked", etc.

quote:Originally posted by andyleates This is something I have found severly lacking as well - you know what they say about assumption, well, thats what I did when I bought the Application Monitor pack. Bye bye 1 grand. While the lack of GUI-based functionality in Report Writer for new features like the App Monitor is…

I would like to be able to flag particular Custom Properties as "requirements" when a Node is being added. What I envision taking place is that after you add a Node and its details present itself in the GUI on the backend, within that Node Details dialog box are a list of Custom Properties below all the information you can…

Bump? Please don't make me open up a ticket with Support, which will take a week for someone to get back to me.

One thing I've always felt ipMonitor should have is a single-monitor license or perhaps a client app that can be run on a remote machine which will test the availability of your ipMonitor server. This is a nice failsafe option in the event your ipMonitor server dies unexpectedly or loses connectivity. The client app and…

Thanks, NG! I was having the same issue and now it's resolved. I'm sure David will see the same thing if he tries it out. One other problem I see is with the customization that SW put into the packaged Alert Engine. For instance, when one would choose to put the Interface Status macro in, the old engine would put Up, Down,…

I agree. What's more annoying is that even though it's moderated, it's moderated poorly. There doesn't seem to be a way for the SW moderators to make "sticky" topics. I can't tell you how sick I am of seeing this question: "I have brand X and I need to monitor XXXXX. I have searched everywhere and can't find where I can…
