  • Thanks for this. I was able to finally get to the point where it would actually recognize the files in my repository. Unfortunately, like you, I'm not testing this out on a Cisco device and now my upgrade process is stuck because it's waiting for a question mark (?) prompt in the CLI that this device is not giving. I…
  • The ability to import .kmz files would be excellent, as well as the ability to freehand draw lines on the maps. Both of these functions would make this 100% more useful, in my opinion. That said, it's a good start and I'm very excited about using it. EDIT: After playing with it for a bit, my main complaint is that there is…
  • Not at the moment, but you can view the past three or four tickets I've opened and see the initial response times. I've brought this up before in Thwack posts, so it's possible that the ship is just taking a long time to correct itself. I don't want to take focus away too long from the great work on the Solarwinds Success…
  • First off, this is great content. I do think it will help find solutions to common problems. I hope there is a plan to redirect people to the new content when they click on an embedded link to the original content in a Thwack post or elsewhere. Keep up the good work in developing this content. However, I personally think…
  • Unfortunately, the Solarwinds method of adding new features that might expose sensitive data has always been, "Let everyone see everything and let the Orion administrator randomly find out that people now have access to something they really shouldn't". Is there a new feature that requires specific permissions to be set?…
  • Completely removing it from the server is unacceptable. The web GUI is NOT the place to do everything, as it simply doesn't work well for mass changes. I will not be upgrading to 10.4 any time soon.
  • Super, thanks for the quick response.
  • This seems to be the only error I'm seeing: 2020-12-18 08:55:50,780 [1] WARN Program - ShadowCopy Cache 'C:\Windows\TEMP\SolarWinds\' cannot be deleted. System.CannotUnloadAppDomainException: Error while unloading appdomain. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131015) System.CannotUnloadAppDomainException: Error while unloading…
  • I am also having issues after upgrade to 8.5 from 8.1, wish someone at SW would stop telling customers to upgrade to 8.5 at least until the bugs are worked out. Some of us do not have a Lab environment to test this out on prior to production :( I'm not trying to be snarky here, but who at SW told you to upgrade? I upgraded…
  • Very well put, Peter. I'd add to the list of core functionality fixes the mysterious copy/paste crashing issue when using RDP to connect to the NPM server. It's been talked about many times before and quite often replicated by customers, but somehow, it's still not fixed since I first started using Orion.
  • Any one had/resolved this issue after the upgrade? Are you using Passthrough Authentication (authenticating using Windows rather than just Orion)? There is some kind of bug preventing passthrough authentication from working, is what I was told.
  • If I could remind both of you that we have a policy against profanity and both of you have words-of-interest that qualify (yes, even in acronym form). If they had been much stronger, I would have been forced to delete your posts b/c we do not edit posts. We welcome the passion of your critiques, but please, let's keep them…
  • Every other vendor we have doesn't do business like SW. Cisco, Juniper, Adtran, and others work with us in a genuine fashion to address our business needs. Peter I'd love to have your sway with the above-listed companies. There are some basic features we've been begging for in all those vendors' various equipment and we've…
  • Chris, Overall, in my short time as a SolarWinds customer, I've seen a lot of good things. You guys seem genuinely interested in your customers. As for the what's on tap posting, there are a few things on that list we wanted, which is really great news. But I do agree with the majority here who think a tool like NCM that…
  • That is what I am doing and it used to work, in that, my changes to the InterfaceDetails.aspx were being picked up when browsing to that page. This changed at some point in a recent release.
  • I am definitely seeing a precompiled page, as literally nothing causes the page to change. But the point of the procedure above is to allow me to update precompiled pages, no? I mean, that's how it worked when I first came across this post last year. I was able to make changes to the pages, perform the procedure above, and…
  • I are SMART. Actually, that's "SMRT" :-) Glad this could work for you and sorry for all the confusion. However, I'd like to point out that the original question posed still isn't answered. Emailing the config as a text file is a pretty good suggestion and maybe it will get into the feature request list.
  • Update....it looks to be a SSH issue. I had this issue on a firewall and as soon as I changed it to use telnet it worked fine, no problems. We use SSH for everything so this is why I see random issues with this. Support has this information so we'll see where it goes from there. BB Yes, it's definitely related to SSH. I've…
  • I then upgraded from 8.1 to 8.5 and found that having .net 2.0 and .net 3.0 fouls everything up. Use only .net 3.0 and reboot before attempting orion installation. Can anyone from Solarwinds verify this claim? If so, would an uninstall of .NET 2.0 resolve any of the weird issues some of us are seeing?
  • I had a similar problem and support and I could never track down what it was. I fixed it in 8.5.1 by renaming one of my custom properties to 'ifCustID' instead of 'ifCustomerID'. However, now that I've upgraded to v9, the problem has come back again and I can no longer configure new accounts with the 'ifCustID' account…
  • Very cool, thanks for the update! What kind of device was it? Would you mind posting the updated template to the content sharing zone? Sure thing. Device is an Accedian EtherNID, of which I've posted the Device Template here:
  • The pages I've modified do not get changed is what is not working. An example is the InterfaceDetails.aspx page. I have made a modification to that page and it doesn't show up after recycling the app pool.
  • Okay, I forgot that scheduling a job doesn't save all the configs in separate files. My bad. However, how about: 1. Create a new Scheduled job. 2. Select "Export Configs" 3. Set schedule, permissions, etc. 4. Select your Nodes. 5. Set where you want the configs to be saved. Does this do what you need? EDIT: I should…
  • Orion 9 can monitor all of what you want. We use it to monitor the status of our pools, nodes, and VIPs. If you're not sure what to do, just look at the F5-BIGIP-LOCAL-MIB: www.mibdepot.com/.../getsum3.cgi Also, take a look at this note on the F5 DevCentral site: devcentral.f5.com/Default.aspx

  • Hi Paul, When this issue does happen, I cannot ping from the Solarwinds server itself - Solarwinds support told me they utilize the "builtin" ping of Windows 2008 .... so that really points back to a network layer issue.... Sorry, I think you mentioned that before, but I was apparently too lazy to browse back. If you are…
  • BTW, if I may put in a plug for the Orion Service Manager, with all the add-on services now being started, OSM needs "Stop All Services"/"Start All Services" buttons AND a checkbox on each service to select which services to be Stopped/Started at the same time. It's a pain having to do each service one at a time if you one…
  • Awesome! I used the "EnableIdentifier" variable and now I can log into the new device type I'm configuring. Thanks!
  • You guys turned this around so quickly, maybe you should help Microsoft with their Zune problem.
  • I know this is kind of an old thread, but has anyone had any luck getting this procedure to work after 12.1? It worked for me at some point and now it doesn't.
