Any progress or updates on this? We have some applications that just simply won't work in IE so using Chrome would allow us to monitor them.
-
Can you give a high level explanation of that IPAM can do? I don't have it so I'm curious how that handles permissions.
-
It's unfortunate this has to be submitted as an idea/request and wasn't just included as part of the upgrade.
-
The monitoring is all done by our team so there is nothing actually turned over to other teams. Right now any notes are kept in a Word doc with the associated applications's other documents, but would still find the comments very useful while actually looking at the criteria vs going back to the word doc.

Can this functionality be added to the 95th percentile reports?

@"rschroeder" is fighting the good fight here

You're lucky... I have to restart the SWISV3 service every 10 minutes via a script to keep Orion up. I've had a support ticket open for 5 weeks now, they still don't know what's wrong. Major impact to us here.

Another use case here is for exceptions from an alert. For instance I have some alerts that globally trigger for disk utilization. Due to some issues with SNMP I need to exclude certain servers from this alert. I would like to out comments on those specific criteria so that I can explain why they are excluded and list any…

On the old charts it was easy to see when the device wasn't responding. When the charts fill in the blank spots it makes it impossible to see when these issues are occurring and leads to a false positive that there was no issue at the time. For example on the old charts if I saw the CPUs suddenly peg to 100% then there was…

This can currently be done at a global level in the Advanced Configuration page (use caution), but a per-device override while in PerfStack would be better. Some of my devices update their counters internally once every second, others once every 5 seconds. When I'm doing real time analysis I want as granular as possible so…
-
Agreed that this is needed. The chart is essentially useless right now as 95% of the time it's only needed to diagnose a previous issue.

I agree with rollcage. We need our server department to be able to set up these maintenance windows, but giving RDP access to our main SolarWinds server to the entire department is a little ridiculous.
-
I was surprised when I found there is only a 1:1 parent/child relationship that you can setup. It's hard to understand why it would be designed this way in the first place. There should definitely be many children allowed per parent. We have hundreds of offices around the country with multiple devices in each location that…

How are there only 2 votes on this? I currently have 529 application monitors. Visually searching through 6 pages of application monitor is quite a nuisance. Seems like this is the only page that doesn't have a search.

Same thing happened to me. After an upgrade I could no longer see the whole config, only the difference. I found a setting had either been changed during the upgrade or it now displayed differently with that setting. Settings > NCM Settings > Config Settings Config Comparisons Select "Display the full side-by-side…

Ideally it'd separated out like normal polling - status and statistics. That way we can keep 1 sec polling available for things like response time and packet loss, but 5 sec for stats so that we can get as granular as possible on each item.

How has this not been implemented by SolarWinds yet...
-
That would be fantastic. Please share how you do this as it never works for me.
-
I agree. The tool we are transitioning from supports this and replicating the monitoring in SolarWinds is taking a lot more time than it should.
-
Completely agreed. I created a feature request for this just today
-
I opened a feature request with SolarWinds customer support a couple days ago. I'd encourage everyone to call them directly to request this. I imagine a call might carry more weight than these forums.

When I first saw PerfStack I was hoping it would be that easy, but man it's got a long way to go. One thing I would like to see is some kind of syntax like Splunk has for its searches. For example our server names include information on application, type of server, etc so if I want to see CPU for all of my NetPath servers…

Ah - thanks! I'm not sure why they consider this "advanced". Should be general options.
-
Where is this screen?
-
Actually, here's a good example. I'm the SolarWinds admin but prefer Splunk to keep an eye on the SolarWinds health as it's just easier and more flexible to see what I need. In a case like this I didn't need to have the Splunk admin set up a page for me; I have full control over what I want to see and can add/remove/change…

Does this method work for you if one of the entries is blank? For me it seems the alert email won't send if the custom property is empty.
-
I tried char(9) but no go: Macro Result
-
Ahh, I see. I was hoping there was a trick to allowing users to edit their own view/dashboard without changing anything globally. That would be a huge improvement as right now SolarWinds is very static for the end user. One thing I love about Splunk is the ability to create dashboards on the fly, and that doesn't affect…

Exactly what I needed. Thanks!

Agreed. Searching through thwack on this topic shows this has been a complaint for years. It seems like it would be such a simple function to implement. I just don't get it. aLTeReGo seems to always know - are there any plans for this functionality in SAM?
