I recently noticed the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" popping up on a handful of down transactions. It usually is taken care of after the next poll. Does anyone know why this one would be showing up?

Do you recommend stopping all the services on the main NPM/SAM server and the APEs? I know that is what we did for our NPM upgrade, but wasn't sure if we needed to do that for a SAM module upgrade.

I noticed in the Admin Guide that is says you can choose the "Express Install - Recommended" or "Advanced" install. Which should I choose for the upgrade? Yep, I just did an SNMPWalk on that volume and did some calculations with those two OIDs and I am getting the values that Solarwinds is reporting. 

I ended up rebooting the whole main poller and it seemed to do the trick.

Thanks dsbalcau.In the Admin Guide it mentioned having to deactivate a license before the upgrade. Is that step applicable to me since I will not be integrating it with NPM at this time?

I will give it a shot. Do I need to get a database backup or anything or is it the same maintenance that would get kicked off normally?

I haven't had any luck. It seems to me like EMC changed the way the Isilon communicates and Solarwinds hasn't been updated with the changes.

I will check out the SAM monitors. Is there anyway to see which account the SAM Monitors/Components are using? Since the Report Scheduler and Unmanage Utility are on our main NPM server and not the APE, I don't think that is what is causing the lockout.

Jiri, That is the eventual plan, but we just want to get NCM up and running again on the version we have installed (7.0.2) first before jumping to the latest version.

Do you know the reason why deleting the files from temp is fixing the issue? I looked at the temp folder and other than temporary report PDFs, I'm not seeing anything else related to Solarwinds.

Let me know if it sticks or if SW Support has any answer to why the issue keeps coming up.

Unfortunately, a reboot of the server hasn't fixed the issue. We have some time scheduled for Hotfix installs at the end of the month so hopefully one of those will fix it.

rob.hock We are planning Solarwinds upgrades for June. Currently, we should get to the 11.5.x upgrade by mid-June. Do you think that 11.5.2 will hit GA by then?

With this being 3 years ago, I don't remember the way we fixed it fix occurence. I know I've rebooted the servers and/or restarted services and it will be fine and other times I've deleted the Temporary ASP Files and restarted IIS.

Yep, that worked. It is now working as expected. Any idea why more and more sites are requiring to be switched to X,Y to be captured correctly? Normal mode used to work for all sites and now it doesn't seem to be the case.

Yeah, that is how I was thinking about doing it. I will look into the Powershell Script Monitor.

Did you ever get the pollers created for the F5 pools?
