Doh! First red "X" in a while, all because I didn't read through the hint. There is an issue, though, yumdarling, as kurtrh mentioned, where I did not select an answer and the system thought I did. I don't want a reset because I ultimately got it wrong, even if the system bug wasn't there, but thought you should be aware.

Thanks for the new mission, THWACKGeeks! Nice prizes this month, too...helping folks stick with their New Year's resolutions! I don't, personally, work with our databases but I have seen DPA in action by way of demos & previous missions and it seems like an excellent set of tools. Looking forward to learning!

Congrats to all the winners this month! On to April!!

I preferred Scrappy to Scooby Dumb...he was the blurstestest, if I understand the meaning of the expletive. Then there was Lula Doo...Scooby's mom. Interesting that there is nothing on the Intarwebs about Lula...is it just me or does anyone else remember her? Please, tell me I'm not going crazy!!! Doh, too late! :-P

Your point is noted, meyer837 but I think you are missing my point. Regardless of consistency (which, seriously...consistency and IT are not frequent bedfellows), people need to be be able to look at the question as it is presented, not look for evidence of something else just to try and be right. Just because a question…

"The middle class takes offense, even when none is intended. The world class NEVER takes offense, even when it IS intended." Jus' sayin'... I also appreciate your bent for hyperpolysyllabicsesquipedalianism...

I want my INSTAND POT! (Truth be told, I really don't...wouldn't that be some irony!) And to whomever gets the Cuisinart, you'll LOVE IT!! We use ours practically every day. Only thing is that the timers are not digital so there's some approximating going on, but after a few tries you get the hang of it.

OK, Smitty, I see now that there are two answers in the Transaction Application Dependencies section, so I take back what I said and yes, there is some confusion. When I went to answer it at 0640MT this morning, there was only one thing listed there. yumdarling, it appears that we have a dynamic situation here and the…

I have to defend wabbott on this one, folks. If you put "load" on a CPU - or anything, for that matter - are you not also "using" it? To me they are one and the same. Just because it's not EXACTLY the same wording doesn't mean you can't extrapolate the meaning.

Thanks for the opportunity, DanielleH I recall an incident that happened at my previous job. I had been promoted to NetMan and this was the early days of frame relay internet connections. One day, about noon, our connection to the Internet just dropped and would not re-connect. Suspecting a virus or something worse, I…

ebradford, I hear what you're saying but this is a little different situation. Since this month is a "two-part" set of separate 10-question missions, each with its own "grand prize", they could not (I presume) leave the first part open for the entire month. I was out on vacation last week but made sure to get the last…

Actually, melonizame, I did have an issue with question 1 but it was my fault because I didn't read the question and answers thoroughly. Oh, well, more caffeine next time. And marcoswithanoh's pop-up explanation told me exactly why I was wrong.
-
I think we've all been there, smttysmth02gt...it's all good.
-
You are correct, sir! Sorry, though, that it counts for even less than it would if it were a THWACK question.
-
marcoswithanoh, I have to agree with notclarkkent on this one. I went back and looked and there are two answers that are very similar, which will, most likely, cause confusion. In the video, adatole does actually truncate the name of the utility program when he says it, and what he says is the same as one of the…

"Up da hill, down da hollar, an' turn lef' at da Wocopep!" (And no offense intended to sutherners...I is part one too!) My Mother's side of our family is from the deep south, sparda963, so I appreciate the whole "Yeah, jes go down dere a fur piece an y'all'uns'll git dere." type of directions. When I was growing up, I…

Do they need to specify which component (of at least 2, as you mention) they are asking for if one of the two components is already stated in the question? In the demo, what transaction application dependencies does AzureSHPFE1 from EAST Datacenter 2 have? I guess my question becomes, if I follow your logic, can, and…

Congratulations to all the winners!!!

I must agree with oiram that there is only one possible correct answer. Without giving too much away, if one does a "CTRL+F" in the hint for certain key words from the answers, they only show up for one of the answers. At least that's what I'm seeing on Intrusion Detection – Trusted Metrics, Inc but if you are seeing…

And if you think about it, ebradford, service stations are missing out on huge up-sell potentials (c.f. your example above, "It's a little low, ma'am [...]" - and, BTW, thank you for using the correct spelling for the contraction 'ma'am'!) and additional revenue, which would more than offset the investment of having a few…

There is definitely some confusion on today's question 12, yumdarling, and it could be because of the BMC resource that rwagner listed. That article does, specifically, state that single-tenant solutions are ___________ (trying not to give too much away there... ). But, since that answer was not listed in the white…

Great article, adatole, and thanks for sharing. As I have mentioned, I was a BSA in a former life, and spent much of my time in that position asking clarifying questions. As you can imagine, translating "geek speak" to American English (yes, there is a difference!) and vice versa can be a daunting task. Two of my favorite…

And then there's the old "Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot...OVER!" as an interrogative and "Tango Uniform" for dead equipment. Oh, so many plays on words with the phonetic alphabet.

I am using SolarWinds to help us troubleshoot issues with our new VPN system. Just this morning, as a matter of fact, I used NetPath to help find a broken link to an external website that folks could get to from the web and from the old VPN, but not the new one. With NetPath's ability to peer inside the routes (kind of…

Oh, dive7, you should've been here when the questions were originally put forth with Radio Buttons, not Checkboxes, as selection mehanisms. That's when the "debate" really started. Now that Checkboxes are in play, your statement is dead on but that was not so the case on Friday. I believe that marcoswithanoh is simply…

I've mentioned this elsewhere, chipperrocks10, but have you considered a Cost/Benefit Analysis to bolster your case? How much time are you spending on tasks that could be automated or handled by SolarWinds products, and how much would the time saved offset the ongoing investment in said products? If you're making…
-
Hey, melonizame, the question asks "[...] you want to know as soon as parts fail. Where would you configure this setting?" The emphasis is on the "where" not the "what". I don't mean to sound crass or condescending but don't overthink this.

I'm remnded of a quote I recited by Earl Nightingale in "The Strangest Secret". Mister Nightingale was quoting Grove Patterson, the then Editor In Chief of the Toledo Daily Blade, who said, “My years in the newspaper business have convinced me of several things. Among them, that people are basically good, and that we came…

That's it, marcoswithanoh, get ready for your 50 lashes with a limp noodle!!! This is gonna hurt me much more than it hurts you, mister!!! Wait, what?? ;-)

Ah, I see...you are correct. I had in my head less than, not greater than. Thanks.
