Do I have to assign to the monitor to the SQL server? If so how do I handle clusters?
-
I called in and was told that free tools are only supported through the Forum. Personally I found this a little disturbing. From what I know about the tool it only works with Kiwi and Orion Syslog servers, you have to pay for them. I was planning to install the forwarder on about 1200 windows servers. When I found that it…

As much fun as that sounds, would it be too much to ask if this is in the pipe?

Yes I would need to be able to search the file for given line(s) of text or the absence of text. I am trying to get Cirrus to alert on a process that stops running on out CISCO routers. The Cirrus job writes the output of the command script to a file. A logfile monitor could then look for key words and grab out text to…

If you only would have said that last week. I ended up watching the loop Back address on the servers for the status of unknow. Using the loop Back fixed the issue of nodes with two or more NIC's.

At my company we have two buildings, our SQL clusters are in the process of creating clusters where half the cluster is in one building and the other half in the second building. Currently the clusters will failover to the same building like is standard. We have 4 pollers, two of which are in each building. The processes…

I had to change the extension from a .mib to a .txt

I have applied the fix that you sent. Very nice work. One thing I have noticed is that you have to click on "Get Next 100 Nodes" at the bottom of the list if you have more then 100 nodes in a certain grouping. I would rather not have this feature and just have all the nodes in a certain group show up all at once. I was…

I have seen this problem very frequently while using the reporter application. The app just dies out of no were when changing report settings.

This has also been an issue that I have experienced with the Syslog and SNMP traps. We need a way to parse out information and only pass what is needed. I would also like to have the ability to create my own variables to rearrange how the message is sent in a email or any alert action. Like being able to cut out words or…

I have two environments one SLX server with 2 Xeon 3.2 GHZ 4 GB ram 6 15K 72.8 GB HDD Raid 5 polling every status 5 Min. SQL is running locally. In the Filter Results tab you will need to make a condition group with an "any" condition. Then put something like this. Custom prop = custom prop nameFor each of your Custom Prop. This should filter to just the nodes in that are in the 8 groups. For the web you will need to do this for each "box" in the top 10 page.…

To view the SQL open the Report in design mode, Go to the report drop down --> select "show SQL".

What do you want to or need to monitor? If you are looking to monitor CPU, Memory, HDD, or interfaces you should have no issues from Orion.
-
I would like one of the Solarwinds Staff to respond to this.

Is your Orion Server Dual lan ported? If your network connection goes down to your Orion server the server will not be able to get to the DB (if the DB is on a separate server) and no alerts would be sent. I would say that every node would show node down if you had a console to the server.

No one has any ideas?

Should this be a feature request?
