I am trying to filter my data source, but when I choose a Custom Property field SW does not give me the option to compare to a value, just to another field. The Custom Property field "Importance" contains values like "Critical Production", "Test", etc. What am I doing wrong? Or is there a way to select a group?

Thank you very much for your response. I will try to re-create your report. I already had a consultant scheduled last night to re-integrate with the appliance, so I cannot verify what the polling settings were before. But since Orion got all other virtualization data correctly, why would only these few data points be…

Serena, I was able to use your SWQL query to add a second table with the number of cluster nodes, but I am not sure how to get this information into the same table with the other information? I'm sorry, I have never used custom queries like that and am probably missing something. Yes, I tried that Capacity Reports and we…

Thanks Steffen. I tried your suggestion, but it seems the Computer Polling Source is always 2 for every cluster, regardless of the number of hosts. Would have been nice...

I am not sure I understand your question. ServiceNow is a cloud based SaaS application. Your URL to access ServiceNow will not change. The only thing you do is to install the Solarwinds integration module from the ServiceNow store into your existing system. Please read through the documentation in the links, it explains in…

Thank you, I really appreciate your detailed response. Again, I am not looking to get into SQL or SWQL and also don't think that I should have to if I spend a lot of money on a supposedly easy to use product. The Message Center btw does not show any of the triggered alerts, even if I select "Show acknowledged". I can list…

OK, finally was able to upgrade to VMAN 8.1. What I am still missing is a view or report that can tell me for each of my clusters the "number of running VMs" as well as the "additional VM capacity", based on current numbers. The old VMAN appliance does that both with a simple cluster list and with reports. How do I get…

Is this going to be fixed anytime soon? With AD authentication and access controlled by AD groups there simply is no way I can constantly check the related groups and manually change for each user. This should be driven by role or group like everywhere else in Orion. EOC 2.0 is a step in the right direction, but the…

NetPath was my first thought as well, but I think bakerm75 is concerned that the alerts would not reach him BECAUSE Internet connectivity is down. Most alerting, email, paging requires an Internet connection. So monitoring some inside systems and/or the internal Orion from the cloud will cover this concern. Thinking some…

I am still trying to re-create reports that were readily available from the old VMAN appliance. Something like this would be great. Can the host count be integrated into the original table? Virtual DatacenterCluster NameHost CountCPU CoresCPU LoadMemory TotalMemory UsedSystem ManagementMGMNT25620%1,024 GB20%Test…

I think in Orion everything is pretty much a node. You can search for a node on the Home Summary page, or you can search from anywhere using the magnifier glass in the top right corner. No specific VM search that I know of.

OK, finally was able to upgrade to VMAN 8.1. What I am still missing is a view or report that can tell me across all my clusters the "number of running VMs" as well as the "additional VM capacity", based on current numbers. I'm waiting desperately for the Capacity Planning and Reporting to move to Orion. The current dashboards and reports with their 1990s charm and graphics quality have long outlived their useful live. I hope this will also fix the issue that more often than not the VMAN appliance decides to change remaining VM capacity to…

Our whole global Solarwinds environment runs on VMs, both primary Orion servers and additional polling engines. Of course like in every other system you have to make sure you have enough resources. We also had the internal discussions about pros and cons, but virtualization always won in the end. Yes, on a dedicated…

You can find documentation on how to do that here: How to Integrate ServiceNow with the Orion Platform - Video - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support and here: https://store.servicenow.com/$appstore.do#!/store/application/28d51d460f129a006d9cb17ce1050e6c/1.0.11?referer=sn_appstor… This PDF explains how to integrate…

If I understand your question correctly then I think the answer is no. Your existing unlimited license is for your Orion instance internally and unlimited means you can monitor unlimited nodes. What you could do is add another Orion NPM instance externally on AWS. This would not have to be unlimited, it could probably be…

We just migrated our Solarwinds server (latest versions) to Windows 2012R2 and started having these same communication issues with VCenter 6.0. Tested connectivity by trying to open https://vcenterserver/mob and did not get any connectivity. Chrome could get to the MOB login, but IE and Solarwinds didn't. After several…

Well, it appears that alerts are muted, because the system has been set into maintenance mode. That's why you don't get alerts. Not sure why it shows as being up though...?

We also used custom node properties for AlertEmail, but if you want to use the group status you could change the advanced settings for the group "Status Rollup Mode". The default is "Mixed Status Shows Warning", but you could change it to "Show Worst Status". This would change the group status to the status of the worst…

I think what becomes very obvious from the vast majority of the replies is that Solarwinds has taken a completely wrong turn with this new SCP program. I was looking forward to becoming certified, because I like to validate my level of expertise in the subject matter, but not for that kind of ongoing cost. Most employers…

I cannot believe that after nearly three years this has not been answered. Apologies to @xtraspecialj, not all of us are programmers or familiar with sql or swql, or even want to go into that direction. If I wanted to go into that direction I would have gone with Nagios. It seems that a simple checkbox on the "Alerts" page…

You say that you have "Only 80 out of 112 potential sockets used". Does that mean that you have configured to monitor all your ESX servers with VMAN individually already? When you add VCenter monitoring through VMAN it will also monitor/add all ESX servers that are managed by that VCenter. Could it be that this creates…
