on a similar note in APM is icmp to WMI going to be supported?
-
I had very similar issues and the resolution was disabling the external counter fetch method.
-
or as root this may work <Command Name="DownloadConfig" Value="cli${CRLF}show config | display set"/>
-
Thanks Jiri Big help as always.
-
ah i believe if you login to EX as root it will dump you in a shell not the cli. Try logging in as a user and see if it works.

to be clear I can occasionally get the multiple charts to display the right data, however, after a refresh or two they get mixed up.

Are those atlas changes in the 4.2 RC? I did upgrade to that this am to see if there would be any change. The mapping issue appears to be related to the number of group objects on the page, I recently created around 84 new groups for seum objects and once they were on the map the issues popped up almost immediately.…

i too want native support for EX and SRX

My DBA was asking as we are trying to build a custom SQL alert that does the following. For each RecordingID, check that StepID 1 is down from all agents. I think we can do it with an alert per Recording ID but we were looking for a more efficient way

pm me your email? I can't seem to find it in my previous exchanges

2x top xx conversations on the same page with different time periods is not working for me in 3.6. One will overwrite the other. The time period displayed remains correct but the data is not.
-
beautiful! thanks

i knew that would be the answer but i always continue to ask. I'll learn one of these days

several different answers. The easiest is the error means you are getting a negative value returned. If you do a remote perfmon from your APM box to the counter in question you should see the counter flatline at times. The cause of this can be congestion or any number of things, in my case switch over subscription was I…

I had a large amount of unknowns that support helped track back to either auth issues or gaps in data due to oversubscription. I also found out APM 4 does use multiple methods to fetch data, not sure if this is the same in 3.5 or not. This was somewhat covering up some of my issues as counterfetcher.exe in my case was more…

if the above doesnt work go to file..settings..and turn on session tracing. you should get a log that may have some details in it. Those will show up @ \Solarwinds\Configuration Management\Session-Trace
-
you want to set the statistical value to be equal or less than so say warning at 30 (days) and critical at 15 (days)
-
helpful stuff. Would incorrect polls per second tuning also end in gaps?
-
Thanks Sean and Bronx both are helpful links but I believe I have this narrowed down to the number of elements on my map. I see a pretty steady stream of 2011-08-24 13:36:17,360 [33] WARN MapEngine - there is no property with name 'NodeID' in my OrionWeb.log. Trying now to isolate what else logs during these events. Based…

That also didn't seem to work as I must have already cleared out the second poller. I did try from SQL studio with the above query and at least saw some rows affected but the GUI did not update. I confirmed in the engines table that the alerts table was correct so I bounced the box and now everything seems well in the…

I am and they appear to be working correctly. The only remaining issue seems to be in my graphic format. transparent Gifs dont seem to be supported and I can't for the life of me figure out how to create a wmf with a transparent background... at least with the tools I have. Any tips on how SW produces their icons to…

Here is the fix to this: Winmgmt /resyncperf Net stop winmgmt /y Net start winmgmt

Thanks thats on my list of things to try. Interestingly it seems APM is handling this poorly, in that its causing APM to spend a lot of resources before it fails the component. I have a case open for failing map loads #267870 and I believe this component failure is causing that. If I unmanage the nodes that issue goes…

Jiri, Some interesting notes on the issues I've been having. As I mentioned before to resolve my APM issues I moved SEUM to a dedicated server running off the shared APM db server with its own db. No issues in either product. That was going so well for a few days that I thought I'd retry the SEUM / APM combo. APM got slow…
-
Jiri, There are some diags on case#267870. The earlier one should be more accurate to what I was seeing as the second was after support had me attempt a few things. I'm not clear if it is an APM and SEUM issue or an issue of simple oversubscription. I do have SEUM and APM seperated now and still hitting the same DB server…

Ah thanks Jiri that will work i think.

what did you find in your arp tables during these events? I *believe* we had this issue on a lot of HP dlXXX G7s that were shipping with a newer broadcom card. We swapped out to another nic and the issues went away. The only issues I saw during my events were missing arps during the event. Our SEs swapped NICs after I…
-
Jiri, The above query is the one you helped me create on our initial deployment. The reset logic appears to work so thank you for helping out once again. Is there anything on the roadmap to build in some of this logic as default alert actions? I would assume other clients would see the value in the ability to have alerts…

thanks Larry thats a big help

Here's the one I'm using. Try setting it up as a new template and hardsetting the devie type to it. I believe you have to fully exit the NCM client to get it to reread the new template <!-- edited with XML Spy v4.4 U (http://www.xmlspy.com) by () --> <!--SolarWinds Network Management Tools--> <!--Copyright 2005…
