the 4500's and 6500's support netflow pending the sup modules. correct me if i am wrong, i think only the sup 6 does NOT support net flow. also be aware LAN-Base licenses will not support exporting of net flow data. Hence, will not accept net flow cmd's. Please be sure you have IP-Base licenses installed.

in my previous role we were migration several hundred frame circuits to an MPLS network. Once the circuit was provisioned from the provider we would peform our own stress test and turn up before moving in any users. This would include testing of through-put, load, stability, etc. Several times we would determine that our…

this is incorrect. by separating sam and udt, you will cease to experience one of the value added features; the "single pane of glass" that Orion offers. The only pieces that I would recommend separating is the Orion database (to a full blown sql server) and the NTA flow storage database (just the database, not the…

to follow up even farther..once you have downloaded both configs you want to compare (running, and startup), you can click on one directly and then choose to compare another. this will open a compare window that will highlight the differences accordingly: then of which, you can "Export to PDF" just as I've described above…

There is a "Export to PDF" link in the upper right hand corner of the Compare Node Configs window.

as long as snmp is configured on the device(s) properly, a network discovery (which can be ran on a scheduled basis) will pick these up.

NPM monitors interfaces. If you want port details (such as macs, and mac history) and the ability to disable ports from the console, see UDT. Device Tracker & Device Discovery Software | SolarWinds

For those wanting to leverage NCM. Unfortunately, NCM cannot download a text based from an F5 device because this is a Binary file. NCM will not be able to process it. There has been a work around that runs a script to backup the file, but it isn't stored in the NCM database. Typically this script can transfer the file via…

If you go into the Orion console "Settings" (upper right hand corner of the console), then scroll down to the Details section and click on "Polling Engines". This will give you your polling engine stats. Including total number of elements and current polling rate. If you are over 85% polling rate it is recommended to…

This can be resolved with the following steps: * Fix the missing permissions with permission checker. * Microsoft visual C++ 2013 redistributable (x86) was missing from the server (check add/remove programs in control panel), reinstalled the missing package. Then restarted the services.

which solarwinds product are you using to monitor your application? I assume SAM. If this is a windows based applications you should be able to leverage WMI. It is possible create custom templates with in SAM for this purpose.
