It's worth noting that users are no longer allowed to execute snapshots from the command-line under SecurePlatform (R70 and up). OS snapshots are still allowed however via the WebUI.

VMware hardware health does not rely on the vendor supplied hardware agent. The option to poll Hardware Health not appearing when listing resources on ESX hosts is normal behavior.
-
Have you considered using the Linux agent?

This is funny.. I was just about to post this again and i found my old post for the same feature. Incidentally its not present in 9.5 or 9.5.1. I'm surprised there hasn't been more feedback regarding this. I am having to add nodes that are not reachable via icmp in order to make service monitors in APM. Which frankly…

Yes, this setting will need to be configured on any machine where users will be accessing the Orion web interface.

Have you verified that the latest version of Dell OpenManage is installed on those servers which are not showing Hardware Health as an option under 'List Resources'?

WMI has conservative default limits on the amount of memory it is allowed to utilize for fulfilling queries. From the error, it suggests that you're running into this limit on occasion. I would suggest increasing this limit and seeing if that resolves the issue. Note that the limit is a fixed number of bytes rather than a…

Negative. You will need to open a case with support who can provide you with assistance.

Hmm.. I would have thought unmanaged nodes/volumes would have been excluded from capacity analysis, but it would seem that I assumed wrong. I'll log this with the great and powerful rob.hock now.
-
Thank you for taking the time to detail both the existing limitations of the dynamic query builder, as well as the requirements for improving this feature. I have passed this information along to the Orion Core Product Manager to review.
-
To my knowledge there is no character limit on this field. There is however character limitations imposed by the operating system itself.

You will need to enable SNMP on your Windows machine. You will most likely also need to re-install the latest version of Dell OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA) because the "Dell" MIBs are not loaded/installed during normal OMSA installation when SNMP isn't enabled/configured on the Windows host. We do offer a Free…

Without knowing what you're seeing vs how your Exchange environment is configured it's near impossible to say what's going on with any degree of confidence. My recommendation would be to open a case with support so we can look through your diagnostics, your Exchange configurations, and compare that to what is being seen in…

That would be within the Alert Trigger Condition for Volumes
-
Correct. This would be changed at the ESX server, not at the vCenter. So you would change the ESX 'Poll Through' from vCenter to Direct.

We could always shut down the Orion services and start them back up again, and things seemed to get better. I'm restarting the Custom MIB Poller once every hour to keep the memory footprint at a reasonable size. I also notice that when it grows out of control it starts to miss polling cycles. Hopefully we'll see a fix…

The fact that you have no "GET" option does not matter. The default behavior of the HTTP/HTTP User Experience Monitors is always "GET". Petr is simply giving you an unintended preview of some of the new functionality the SAM team is currently working on.

As always Josh, you were right. I ran the configuration wizard and the issue resolved itself. Thanks again for your help.

If your SNMP credentials used by Orion have changed, you would first create and save these new SNMPv3 credentials as a new "Saved Credential Set". Then you would assign these credentials to the nodes where they will be used through "Manage Nodes" multi-edit. Lastly, you would delete/remove the older invalid credentials…

Without looking through your diagnostics it's difficult to know precisely what is causing the job to timeout. It may be that 60 seconds is not enough time for the page to load completely. I use slaj's suggestion and extend the timeout value for the bindings monitor out to 180000 (3 minutes) and see if that resolves or…

What is your case number?

The 'ok, got it' is not based on a cookie. This issue is also fixed with hotfix 1 which is available for download through the Customer Portal.

Since installing NET-SNMP ensure you've updated the node in Orion to utilize port 1161. I've also attached a working copy of the snmpd.conf file you can use a reference.

So customers can continue to access key metrics from MS SQL, Exchange, IIS now that most/all Microsoft applications no longer support SNMP, are there plans to add WMI support to Orion natively or though an existing or new add-on? Being able to retrieve key performance statistics from MSSQL 2k, Exchange 2k etc was very…

AppStack did require a coordinated release effort for all participating products. We also try to be sensitive to the fact that when you go out of your way and schedule a maintenance period to upgrade one product on Orion, there's nothing more frustrating than finding out two weeks after upgrading that a new version of…

Is it at all possible that the role/permissions for the Exchange user account used for monitoring has changed?
-
As stated above, we have released an updated version of this template which contains a workaround for the issue. You can download the latest Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway 2010 from the Thwack content sharing zone which includes this workaround.
-
On which metric do you have the 'Count Statistic as Difference' enabled? Also note that the effect is not immediate. You will need to wait until the next scheduled poll before the value will be updated.
-
Correct. The latest template version is posted here on Thwack, but templates are not automatically updated/replaced via product upgrades.
