Much like SNMP managed nodes, how status is polled is configurable. By default status and response time polling occurs through the encrypted Agent communication channel. You can however utilize ICMP in instances where the Orion server can ping the endpoint directly.

The slider determines how exact of a match the template needs to be in order to be applied. If you lower the slider from exact match it will apply the template on a partial match and automatically disable any components which will not work when the application template is applied.

Have you tried using the Real-Time Process Explorer? It allows you to list all running processes on a host and select multiple to monitor using a similar wizard style process. The Windows Service Control Manager similarly lists all services on a host with the same "Start Monitoring" wizard.
