The article below should give some good insight into what causes this error, as well as recommended troubleshooting steps.Since one of the potential problems could be related to name resolution it might be helpful to state your DNS server type (Microsoft DNS, BIND, etc.) How to troubleshoot DCOM 10009 error logged in…

There is no way within SAM today to execute arbitrary scripts through the web interface against a specific host. This is however a feature request we are tracking internally under FB258758.

What is the make/model of the server being monitored?
-
I can't say I've seen that before but I would recommend re-running the website portion of the configuration wizard to see if that resolves the issue. If not then the next step would probably be to delete the site in IIS, as well as removing the c:\inetpub\solarwinds directory entirely and re-running the configuration…

The 503 error is being returned by the monitored web server. It may be that the site uses redirects, cookies, or has some reliance upon javascript that is preventing the site from loading. As you can see below the following HTTPS site is running on port 8989 with a full URL being monitored without issue. I would recommend…

Something clearly went wrong with your installation as SAM and NPM share the same database. No integration between the two products will exist so long as each product is using it's own database. The only real workaround to that would be to use the EOC. Since both products are installed on the same server there's no need to…

Alex Slv, out of curiosity, which browsers and browser versions have you been able to reproduce this behavior?
-
This can be accomplished using the Custom Table resource.

This is something we initially looked at when developing the hardware monitoring in SAM. Unfortunately the depth of hardware information available through the Dell DRAC was not as comprehensive as it was through Dell's Server Administrator software. This also presented a higher barrier to entry for customers, requiring…

Not being alerted when these servers reboot is the desired result but I'm not sure controlling this through the Advanced Alert Manager is the best route to go. It may seem the most obvious but while you won't be alerted, this anticipated/scheduled downtime will count against your availability. What I would recommend using…

That's essentially the nuclear option which removes all HA related Configuration from Orion. Recreating it is typically not very difficult or time consuming, which is likely the fastest/easiest way support is trying to help you resolve the issue. If you are unable or unwilling to reconfigure your HA pools for any reason,…

Have you tried using the following application template? * Active Directory Federation Services

Have you tried using the following application template? * AIX-Unix Directory File Count Monitoring

You could use the Linux script monitor in APM, or what would probably be easier would be to monitor the java process via SNMP.
-
Can you post screenshots of the resulting output from SQL Management Studio? The SQL query itself may be helpful too, but honestly the best way to diagnose the problem for me has been to look at the resulting output from the query itself in SQL Management Studio.

The SQL User Experience Monitor requires that the result of the query return a single numeric integer value as the result. You can also include an optional Message field for string values as discussed here ->

The following alert definition will alert you when any monitored Process or Service related to AppInsight for Exchange is in a "Down" state" The full list of Component Types can be found in the Administrators Guide here -> http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/en/flarehelp/SAM/default.htm#OrionAPMAGOrionAPMAlerts.htm

My question is: since I use a name for the proxy in the Http-through-proxy APM monitor, is that name being resolved every time the monitor runs, or is it using the IP address that was found/resolved for the proxy when I built the monitor? This will depend on the DNS caching of the server your running APM. If the entry…

No one is saying you have to monitor the access ports on a switch. I only monitor the uplink and the CPU on my Cisco devices. If an uplink goes down I want to know about it. If a user shuts down their PC I don't care so why monitor it. As long as the uplink is good and the device is pingable the status will always be green

AppInsight for IIS, which is part of the SAM 6.2 beta, includes native Application Pool monitoring.

What exactly are you monitoring on those hosts that failed when the password expired? The agent can perform impersonation when specific credentials are provided as part of an assigned application. In other cases there are instances where credentials are simply required for monitoring a given application, such as AppInsight…

Can you try the following? * Log on to your Orion server using an account with administrative rights. * Click Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Orion Service Manager. * Click Shutdown Everything. Note: It may take a few minutes to stop all services. * Make a backup copy of your…

Physical is always prefered over virtual, but the majority of users run Orion on a virtual machine. As you stated above, both configurations are supported equally. A dedicated SQL is not required, though some users have found a dedicated SQL instance to be advantageous when nearing 100,000+ components to guarantee other…

There's no method of manually adding MIBs to the database, however the process of getting 3rd party MIB added to the database is very simple. Send an email to mibs@solarwinds.com, attach the MIB files to the email. The MIBs will be compiled with other customer submissions and made available for download from your customer…

You can exclude Events based on key words or regex pattern matching. If there are no commonalities between those events you may have to create a single or multiple event log monitors that key on the specific events that you're most interested in monitoring.
-
Is it possible you posted the wrong case number? I looked up case #380905 as posted above and this case isn't regarding SAM.

There currently is no concept of template variables in APM as you describe. We are looking to make improvements to application template editing in APM in the future and will consider the use of variables as a potential solution to ease this process.

Can you post a screenshot of the query result as seen in the SQL Management Studio?

An alert configured similarly to the image below should notify you if there is more than a single instance of that process running simultaniously.
