If the trigger condition is no longer true (free space is greater than 10%) then the alert will reset (clear) and no further alert escalation actions will occur. Alert Acknowledgement is used primarily to stop these escalation actions from occurring when the alert trigger condition remains true (free space is less than…

An HA standby server only needs an HA license. It does not need anything else. It is there to provide redundancy to another, already licensed product. So if you want to make an APE highly available, all you need is your original APE license used on your existing APE server, and one HA license that is used on the standby…

1. Server Uptime event( reboot). This is monitored by default for all SNMP Nodes. You will find this information on the Node Details view. 2. File change monitor. (e.g. hostname change, /etc/passwd) You would need to write a Linux/Unix script monitor for this 3. Ensure the ff are runnig( smtp, iptable, sshd , ntp) You can…

Is this application by chance assigned to a node that is managed on an additional poller?

Using the SAM Agent you can write a simple VBScript or PowerShell script to perform a simple remote TCP Port check.

Have you reviewed the following KB article? https://support.solarwinds.com/SuccessCenter/s/article/Microsoft-Message-Queue-Fills-Directory-with-Orphaned-Files

This sounds like an excellent candidate for posting this in the Server & Application Monitor Feature Requests forum.

SAM can definitely gather performance data from a database as the result of a query. This information can be queried from a Microsoft SQL, Oracle, or any ODBC compliant database.

I can't say I'm familiar with this product but have you tried using the "Browse for Component Monitors" wizard under SAM Settings?

The detach icon was removed in 8.5 but you can still detach any resource by clicking on the caption text.

I agree NG. However if you think that's bad you should take a look at the predefined time periods in APM. Hopefully you aren't interested in looking at anything longer than a day.

I'm not aware of any existing Plone templates for SAM. Out of curiosity, what information are you interested in monitoring on your Plone server?

As of 8.0.2 and prior there is no method of combining multiple gauges into a single "widget" like the response time/packet loss. This is an excellent suggestion and I agree 100%. As it is the radial gauges waste too much valuable screen real estate as individual gauges. By combining them together into a single "widget" I…

Some of the newer HP jet direct cards support syslog. If the toner low message is sent via syslog solarwinds can alert you when that message is received.

An account with adequate permissions is all that's required. Unfortunately, due to security restrictions imposed by Microsoft the only account with adequate permissions to query WMI remotely is the local or domain Administrator. You can however grant these specific privileges to a least privilege account by following the…

Audit Events are logged when application templates are assigned to nodes, or are modified. This would be the easiest method for determining the date/time when an application began monitoring.

You have to restart all services after applying this SP (use Orion Service Manager > Start Everything). All my services started properly after the upgrade/configuration wizard completed. Did yours not?

Does this help?

SAM includes an out of the box report that seems to meet your criteria perfectly. It's called "Triggered Alerts - Last 30 Days" and can be found under the "Reports" section of the "Home" tab.

A Windows Terminal Server does not have the same Performance Counter objects that a Citrix XenApp server would have. Please ensure you're applying this template to a XenApp server. There is also a known bug in Citrix's performance counter implementation that requires at least one user be connected via a Citrix ICA session…

This is a precisely the use case for our Synthetic End User Monitor product.

I am not aware of any method of collecting queue depth metrics from Websphere via JMX, or SNMP. You could write your own Java code and call it from within a script using the following examples. * java - Check MQ queue depth - Stack Overflow * Websphere 7 MQueue: how to access queue depth from Java? - Stack Overflow

As you stated, polling frequency is how often the application is polled. The polling timeout value is how long SAM will wait before giving up polling, as it's unlikely to ever return a result successfully. The timeout serves is a safety mechanism that ensures that there aren't jobs that are essentially waiting indefinitely…

This can be achieved using the Multiple Object Chart or Custom Chart resources. Below is an example on how to configure that resource after adding it to a view.

This is certainly possible using the "Unmanage Scheduling Utility" located on the Orion Server under [Start -> SolarWinds Orion -> Advanced Features]. This will allow you to define the time period for which you don't want the node, application, interface, etc. managed on a regularly scheduled and reoccurring basis.

Does the MySQL template included with SAM not working with MySQL 2012?

Ensure you are using sticky IP. Some load balancers call it something different. Essentially you want to ensure that the webserver that services your first request is the same web server that services all subsequent requests for that session.

You're not alone. None of those OIDs work for me either. I'm running multiple ACE 4710 appliances running code version A3(2.4).
